"Jenny, please stay calm. we'll be there soon" Marsai assured Jenny
"Please, be fast, he might collect my phone soon. Ahhh..!" Jenny screamed.
"I think he has collected the phone now" Mark laughed.
"This isn't funny. That guy is a beast."
"Didn't she see the red flags before dating him?"
"She saw the red flags but she ignored it, that's not the problem now, please drive faster." Marsai urged Mark.
"Whatever you say" Mark replied driving faster.
They arrived at Jude's place. Jude is Jenny's abusive boyfriend.
They heard Jenny's voice. She was screaming for help but there was loud music playing so the neighbours weren't concerned.
They walked towards Jude's apartment.
They knocked on the door but no one opened it.
"Did you call that murderer to save you?" Jude laughed as he brought out his belt to flog Jenny.
"Marsai, please save me…" Jenny continued crying.
Marsai kept knocking and screaming but Jude refused to open the door. Instead, he continues beating Jenny.
"Looks like we'll have to use another method"
"Which is what?" Marsai asked Mark eagerly.
"I could've broken the door but that is not possible. Let's call the police." Mark suggested.
"The police?!" Marsai shouted.
Immediately Jude heard the word "Police" he stopped beating Jenny.
He opened the door for them.
Mark and Marsai walked inside.
Marsai rushed to check on Jenny.
Jenny was coughing out blood, her nose was also bleeding.
"Are you okay?" Marsai asked Jenny but Jenny couldn't talk.
"Look who we have here, Mark is that you?" Jude dropped his belt and moved closer to Mark.
"Jude?! what are you doing in this country?" Mark asked surprisingly.
Their conversation drew Marsai and Jenny's attention to them.
"I don't think I'll answer that question" Jude smirked.
Jude is a notorious criminal. Although he comes from a very prestigious family, he still got himself into many notorious activities.
Jude is an African-american. He came to reside in Mexico where his parents forcefully sent him to due to his awful behaviour. Although, he has tried running away many times.
Jenny's family forced her into dating Jude and their wedding is just around the corner.
Jude is a handsome black man in his early thirties, every girl would love to date him. But, his toxic nature made him unattractive.
"Mark, do you guys know each other?" Marsai asked.
"We'll talk about that later" Mark carried Jenny on his back.
"Murderer! You're supposed to be in prison by now" Jude mocked Marsai.
"Enough reason why you should avoid me and who knows we might meet each other in prison" Marsai shrugged.
Jenny was taken into the car and they went straight to a hospital nearby. Jenny's injury was treated and she was given few medical drugs.
The female nurse confirmed that Jenny has been raped by her boyfriend countless times. This made Marsai angry.
"Why didn't you tell anyone that he has raped you countless times not even me!" Marsai shouted at Jenny as they entered the car.
"I don't know how to explain it. I tried telling you but he threatened to expose our private videos and photos. So, I had to keep quiet" Jenny explained.
"I think you guys should talk about that later. For now, Jenny should take some rest." Mark sped off.
The atmosphere was melancholic. They didn't talk to each other for a few minutes.
"Jenny, are you going home?" Marsai asked, trying to break the silence.
"No." she replied.
"Why?"
"I'll explain tomorrow. I might sleep at my hostel tonight." Jenny replied.
"Are you sure you'll be okay alone?" Mark asked, staring at her.
Jenny stared at him for a few seconds. She can't deny the fact that Mark is the only guy she has actually liked her whole life but it seems impossible for them to be together since her marriage is around the corner.
"You're not saying anything"
Jenny jumped back to reality.
"Yes, of course. I'll be okay alone. I've always been." Jenny said, faking a smile.
She came down from the car.
"See you guy's tomorrow. Bye." Jenny waved at them.
They waved at each other and Mark drove off.
"Everyone really has their own problems, I never knew she was in pain but she still manages to smile every time. But mine is written all over my face." Marsai sighed.
"Everyone really has their own problems but I don't understand why someone would be able to date Jude. That guy is too toxic!" Mark sighed.
"I'm really curious to know how you're related to Jude."Marsai muttered.
"We'll talk about that next time. So, have you met Martins recently?" Mark stopped the car.
"No and I don't pray to meet him anytime soon."
"Why?"
"I know that you want to ask me right now if I will be able to forgive him but I don't think that I can-"
"I will never ask you that. Never, because Martins doesn't deserve forgiveness. He's selfish!" Mark interrupted.
"I don't think he'll ask for my forgiveness. It's been so many years and I have that feeling that he's back in the country even though I'm not too sure"
Mark was silent at this moment. He stared at Marsai but he didn't want to tell her that Martins is back in the country. Probably because he wants Marsai to forget about Martins. But, that won't be possible.
The weird part is that she can feel Martins' presence.
"Your feeling may be right though, Maybe, he's back in the country." Mark said.
"So, what of Mira? Have you heard from her?" Mark asked.
"Mira? The name sounds familiar but I can't really remember. You know I haven't told you this, I temporarily lost my memory after the incident." Marsai explained.
Mark was shocked to hear this. He never knew Marsai temporarily lost her memory and can only remember only people that she was really close to.
"Wow, I never knew about this. Do you remember the girl that testified against you in court?" Mark asked eagerly.
Marsai's memory was taken back to her first trail in court. Only what she first remembered was the lady on black attire who testified against her. The lady said she witnessed the incident and Marsai actually killed the boy. Although, Marsai's fingerprint was found on the stick used in hitting the boy.
"All I can remember was the lady on black attire and I think that is Mira?"
Mark snapped his fingers on hearing this.
"Yes. Exactly that is her. She was actually our senior in high school who has a huge crush on Martins." Mark said.
"I really hated her."
"She really bullied me and inflicted pains on me which I could never forget and to think that her dad was actually the one who sponsored Martins abroad made me more sad and pathetic" Marsai cried.
"Don't cry. Did you just say she bullied you?" Martins asked eagerly.
Marsai nodded her head and wiped her tears.
"Mark, do you want to hear a story.?" Marsai smiled.
"That weird smile. What is the story about?" Mark asked eagerly.
"How everything happened and how I met Martins."
"I'm eager to know how you changed Martins and your love story" Martins laughed.
"Okay, I'll start now."
