My Dad told me about how he met Miss Georgia coincidentally.
According to him, he was feeling a little sick when he met Miss Georgia by the roadside.
She took him to the hospital. The doctor said he was sick and needed to get a little rest and stop overthinking for a while.
Miss Georgia also paid his hospital dues and got him some medications. After that, they went to the bar to get some lunch.
They were still discussing when the rain started and it lasted for a while.
"Is that all? Nothing else happened?" I asked my dad eagerly.
He chuckled.
"What else do you want to hear about Marsai?"
"Nothing else." I laughed.
"Actually, we went to her office. You know very well that she is a therapist. So, we had a therapy session."
"And how did it go?"
"It went nice as expected."
What I loved most about Miss Georgia is that she is not materialistic.
After my Mum left, we invited her into our house. Despite the fact that our house looked very old, she never complained. She felt comfortable. We talked for a while before she left and she invited me to her office the next day.
"Guess who I met the first day I went to Miss Georgia's office?"
"Are you asking me?" Mark asked, pointing at himself.
Marsai nodded her head.
"How would I know?" Martins replied.
The first day I went to Miss Georgia's office, I didn't want to go home.
Her office looked very big and beautiful. She had places where she kept different kinds of chocolate bars.
"One bar of chocolate please." I said to one of the workers in the office.
She attempted to give it to me when a young boy snatched it from her.
"It's mine, I came first. Give it to me!" I shouted at the boy.
"You came first but I collected it first. So, it's mine!" He retorted, opening the bar of chocolate.
I stared at him as he opened it. He felt so uncomfortable that he had to divide it and give me half of it.
That was my first encounter with Martins. I was only ten then and he was twelve.
Mark wasn't happy to hear this side of Marsai's story.
"Looks like everything that revolves around you is about Martins." Mark said in his mind.
"Don't you remember when you guys were in the states?" Marsai asked him.
"I never lived in the states with Martins. We were separated when we were two. Martins was taken to the states while I stayed back here in Mexico." Mark replied.
"I thought as much because I never saw you two together. Although, Martins always talked about his twin brother."
"He talked about me? That's shocking news." Mark laughed.
"He always talks about how he misses you and what he will give to you when you two finally meet. But it's sad that you two aren't even that close."
Mark was silent. Despite the fact that they're both twins, they have this hatred for each other that no one can truly tell what is wrong with them because they were never seen together.
Martins was the reason I always wanted to go to Miss Georgia's office.
We were always together talking about cartoons we've watched and we also played together. Martins was the only friend I had then but one day we got into a fight. He pulled my hair so hard that he removed a strand of it.
Miss Georgia saw the day we fought and that was the last day I saw Martins in the state.
The next day I came, the lady who worked there said he had left the country.
I couldn't sleep that night. I cried all through the night. I dearly missed Martins but that was just a childhood love. It fades very fast but this one was different.
I was still healing from the fact that Martins left the country when my Dad got involved in an accident.
My brother and I were in Miss Georgia's office when she received a call from an unknown number.
"Is this Mr.Modricks fiance`?" A voice asked from the phone.
"Yes. Is there any problem?" Miss Georgia asked.
"Yes, please, you are urgently needed in Boston's hospital. There is an emergency." The voice said.
"An emergency?!" Miss Georgia shouted.
Miss Georgia's shout attracted my attention. She started crying immediately looking for her car keys.
"What's wrong? Did anything happen to Dad?" I asked her incessantly.
"Everything's not alright Marsai. Take care of your brother. I'll be back soon." she cried entering her car.
I felt uncomfortable. I kept praying that no one dies or any tragic event but my cries and pray was fruitless.
Miss Georgia ran into the hospital immediately after she arrived. She continued crying looking for My Dad's ward.
She finally found it but she wasn't allowed to enter.
"Allow me to see my fiance please." Miss Georgia begged them with tears rolling down her cheeks uncontrollably.
"Ma'am, please leave." The nurse said, dragging her out of the ward.
The doctor walked up to her and asked her to come into his office.
"Will he survive it? Please tell me what I can do to save him please?." Miss Georgia continued begging the doctor.
"Ma, please I'm sorry-
"Please don't tell me sorry." Miss Georgia kept pleading with the doctor.
She was still pleading with the doctor when my Mum stormed into the hospital shedding crocodile tears.
"You killed my husband!" My Mum shouted at Miss Georgia.
"Why would I kill my fiancé?" Miss Georgia cried.
"You're a liar! You have always wanted my husband for yourself!"
"Ma, please stop it." Miss Georgia started crying loudly.
The doctor's working on my father entered the doctor's office and gave him a sign by shaking their heads.
That was when Miss Georgia realised that my father had died. His death still remains a mystery to everyone because now one knows who actually killed him.
According to the doctor, his body was brought into the hospital almost five hours later after the accident occurred.
Miss Georgia took us to her home that night. The rain even made the atmosphere more melancholic.
"Where's my Dad? Is he alright? Why isn't he yet back?" I continued asking her.
"Marsai, I don't want to hide this from you and I think you should know the truth." Miss Georgia said, bringing out a bottle of alcohol from the refrigerator.
"What truth is that?" I asked. My heart started beating faster because I noticed that something was off somewhere.
"Marsai, your father is dead!" she shouted crying.
I was speechless. I felt like the world was about to crash.
"I tried everything I could to make sure he survived even a day so we could all be able to see him for the last time and at least bid him a farewell. Marsai, I -
I didn't allow her to finish talking when I ran out of the house. I cried under the rain throughout that night. The memories of my Father and I kept repeating in my head. He shouldn't have left my brother and I alone in this wicked world.
My Mum wasn't helping instead she added salt to my wound.
