[LUCA]
"Enough, enough!" Lena squealed.
"You started it," I said, laughing.
I aimed one last weak splash in her direction and walked away before she could think about getting even.
We had spent a good five minutes splashing each other in the shallow brook, like a couple of happy-go-lucky kids. I don't know why, but Lena just brings out the child in me.
"Luca, you're a cheater," she muttered, trudging up the bank behind me. "Now I'm all soggy."
"What? I played fair. You're not even that wet."
After my initial retaliation, which hit her right in the face, I made sure my succeeding splashes barely hit her. Lena, on the other hand, used all of her power to get me thoroughly drenched.
But I didn't mind. I was grateful, to be precise. The cold water killed off any of my shameful thoughts from forming again.
