Chapter 56 - CHAPTER 57

Lothaire explained to her parents that they had done a court marriage as a gentleman would, her mother had a shock filled expression while her father's had a frown etched on every corner, showing his obvious anger at the news. Larisa expected her father to be angry since he was a man of high self esteem, a perfect citizen with a good family background in the eyes of society and to top it all, he was one of the biggest sponsors in a church located in their area since they came from a christian home.

"Is this true Larisa?!" She could hear the anger in her father's voice as he directed the question to her even though he knew Lothaire wasn't lying. Lothaire just watched in boredom, he didn't know why humans made a big deal out of nothing.

Larisa couldn't answer her father even if she wanted as she lowered her head, shuddering slightly in nervousness. Mr Eden shook his head in utter disbelief and anger.

"Is this the reason why you went on a vacation for months, because you wanted to elope with a man?" Her father accused her in the most outrageous way she had heard, even Anne knew it wasn't true, she knew Larisa wouldn't elope with a man, she had no reason to do that.

"N..No t..that's not true..." Larisa stuttered and even though she wasn't lying, one would think she was as she stuttered uncontrollably, her heart pounded heavily in her ears and sweat dropped from her forehead in anxiousness.

"Are you pregnant? Is that the reason you eloped with him? Because you knew I'd never agree for your marriage to this strange man?!" Her father accused her more, his words made sense but it wasn't true. Lothaire rolled his eyes inwardly as he heard the man blab nonsense but he didn't understand why his little Angel seemed shaken up by the man.

"It just happened unexpectedly a..and..we just got married but..it..it's not what you think Dad..." She said nervously, it was hard for her to explain with her father looking at her like a disappointment and her mother staring at her with judging eyes and her friend wasn't even in support of her relationship. She didn't care about them accepting Lothaire but she didn't want her parents to hate her or look at her like a disgrace. All her life, she had grown up being moulded into the perfect child and she had always made them proud in whatever way possible but now all she could see was disappointment in their faces.

"That's enough you slut! How could you disgrace me and your mother that way?!" Her father's voice roared in anger and her hazel eyes filled up with tears at her father's painful remark.

Lothaire's jaws ticked in anger, he had promised Larisa that he would be a gentleman but he didn't know how long he could keep up with his gentleman facade as he heard her Father calling her a slut, no one, not even her parents had the right to hurt her emotionally or physically or else he couldn't promise Larisa that heads wouldn't roll. He clenched his teeth in anger as he saw a tear drop on her cheeks, he would let this one slide but one more hurtful word from her father and he would make sure he put him in his place for hurting his Angel, that was the least he could do since killing her father would make her angry at him.

He glanced at her mother who was silent all through, she couldn't even defend her daughter and he thought how worthless she was to be a mother if she couldn't even stand up for her daughter who was wrongly accused and just kept staring at them like a dummy.

"That's not true Uncle Eden, they both love each other and I know what she did was wrong, not inviting anyone and trust me I'm hella mad but I don't think it's right calling her names, they just got married what's the big deal?" Anne chipped in, in a lighter mood but her father's anger didn't lessen, in fact he got more furious than before. Lothaire could see the reason why Larisa fancied her friend so much, she was the only one who stood up for her and she wasn't afraid to voice out her opinion so confidently.

"I didn't ask for your opinion Anne and dinner's over, shouldn't you be leaving?" He said with a calm voice but his fury could be heard in it. Anne knew he wanted her to leave and even though she didn't want to leave just yet, she had to.

"I will, but Lothaire's giving me a ride home." She lied smoothly but Lothaire didn't say a word.

"Then be quiet and don't intrude in our family's business." Mr Eden warned. He thought of her as a daughter but she knew that he was too angry to think of that so she kept quiet in order to not be thrown out of the house.

"I have nothing more to say to you Larisa, you have brought shame upon this family and the society, what am I going to tell them, that my daughter eloped with a strange man? She got pregnant out of wedlock? That she's a shameless slut!!" Her father growled in anger and the tears kept pouring out of her eyes. Her father had always cared too much about how the society and church had perceived him and his family, they always had to put on a perfect family show both in public and in private, she couldn't tell if she was living a fake life or a real one.

That was it! Lothaire had had enough and the thin string of his resolve had been broken, he wasn't going to sit there and watch her father degrade her like a pile of garbage. She had done absolutely nothing wrong but here he was making her feel so inferior and guilty.

"You have no right to insult her whether she got married or not without your knowledge and I really don't care if you have a name to uphold in the society, but they can all burn in hell with their thoughts and if you don't stop calling her names, I'll rip out your tongue." Lothaire threatened, his words were calm but fury burned in them. He glared at her father with cold blazing golden eyes filled with murderous intent, leaving him speechless as the air around him felt heavier and darker making their spines chill in fear.

Anne was impressed, she no longer cared if he was arrogant but seeing him stand up for Larisa and protecting her emotions and dignity from getting hurt made her see him differently, she felt more relaxed knowing Larisa had someone powerful that could protect her emotionally and physically and she was glad he had shut her father up because truthfully, she was already getting furious at his baseless accusations and degrading his daughter because of society.

Larisa thought Lothaire would continue with his gentleman act until he switched back to his arrogant, egoistic self but she was glad he did, she was happy he he defended her even though he disrespected her father but she wasn't mad at him for it, maybe her father deserved it for judging her so badly because of society. Her father had made it clear that the happiness of society was more important than hers so why would she feel bad if they didn't agree to their marriage, their opinions didn't matter anymore, she would make her choices without them.

"Since dinner's over, we'll take our leave." Lothaire said curtly but in a rather mocking tone and Anne had to stifle a laugh as she got up to leave. Lothaire took Larisa's hand and gently pulled her away while her parents stared at them in speechlessness but neither of them called back after them and it hurt her a bit as she thought they'd call her back to apologise but they didn't.

"Larisa." Anne called with sad blue eyes staring at her, she knew her parents had hurt her with their disagreement regarding she and Lothaire's marriage and to worsen the situation, with an outrageous accusation.

"I'm fine and thank you for speaking up for me." Larisa said immediately with grateful eyes knowing what she wanted to say.

"I know he disrespected your parents but I'm kinda glad he did and I'm totally hands in in your relationship. He's dangerous but he protects you and I can see it in his eyes that he loves you and I guess that's all that matters and I'm also sorry for judging him." Anne said as she took a peek of Lothaire who was waiting patiently for Larisa at the car parked outside.

"Really? I knew you'd like him." Larisa said as she beamed a smile at her.

"Yea, we'll talk tomorrow, he's waiting for you, bye." Anne said as she noticed Lothaire's impatient look on his face.

"Okay bye Anne." She said as she waved at Anne who got in her car and zoomed off.

"I tried my best to be a gentleman and I would have been a perfect one if they didn't tick me off." Lothaire complained as he started the car engine.

"I prefer you as Lothaire, the devil's son." She said immediately and he was glad she wasn't mad at him for threatening her father.
