Larisa woke up all sweaty from her last nightmare, again she was cuddled up in the hands of Lothaire. Her face was sweaty from the nightmare she had, the realness of the nightmare made her realise that it was no nightmare and two nights in a row with strange nightmares told her enough.
"Its not a nightmare Lothaire, its happening every night now." Larisa said as she sat up on the bed as she shuddered from remembering the strange nightmare, she wondered who the man that looked like Lothaire was, maybe it was his father but they were too identical.
"I'll figure it out, I would have suspected the devil but he's no coward to scare you through dreams." He said with a dead serious look as he tried to think.
He knew his father's tactics and moves, his father was calculative, cunning and smart. He would wait patiently until his prey had their guard down, then he would attack even if he didn't really have to be patient or calculative to get rid of something since he was already powerful enough to get rid of anything or anyone in his way but he considered it boring to move without a master plan.
"This time I saw a man that looked like you but he had long hair but I knew it wasn't you, he felt...different. Larisa told him about her nightmare, she wondered if her life was going to be this tough and full of strange happenings and then she remembered the warnings from Adina.
"The devil is who you saw but I still doubt its him who's giving you nightmares, I'll try to figure it out, but now I have a meeting to attend." Lothaire said with a stern expression as he stood up to leave.
"Wait! Please can you stop shutting me out? You hide stuffs from me and i get to hear it from others first, I feel like I'm the only one who's lost here, Why? Because I'm a weak human and I can't take it all? Because I'm easy to scare or because you don't trust me?"
Larisa blurted her feelings out, she was tired of being the only one left in the dark, she knew the pure breeds looked down on her because she was a mere human and she was weak.
Naturally, they had all expected Lothaire's mate to be an ancient demoness or a pure bred vampire that would make his offspring stronger but instead he got a weak human which meant that his offspring probably won't be that strong but he didn't care about what anyone thought of his mate.
He was only trying to protect her and doing everything necessary to protect her from getting hurt, but he quite understood her point and where she was coming from, he was keeping things from her because telling her things will naturally find his way to his dark pasts and even darker future. Seeing the hurt in her eyes made him feel even more hurt.
"Its nothing like that, we'll talk after the meeting, there's a lot of things going on now and I predict a war coming in the near future...I promise I'll explain." He said with sincerity visible in his golden eyes, then he hurriedly got up to leave.
Larisa was wide eyed at the new development, a war was coming? She wondered if the war was because of her, it most likely seemed so.
Then she wondered again if what Lothaire said was true, that his father was not the one giving her nightmares and messing with her head, but if he wasn't the one, then who could it be? And why was the person or being giving her nightmares?
...
"We have a problem." Darius said as soon as Lothaire walked in.
"What are you two still doing here?" Lothaire said ignoring Darius as his gaze travelled over to both Avian and Onyx. He was expecting them to had already left by midnight but they were still there.
Avian stood silently as he stared at him with his expressionless face.
"The stones weren't brought in early, they were very rare." Onyx said with a slightly shaken voice, she had become even more terrified of Lothaire after he had strangled her.
"The stones have been brought in?" He asked.
"Yes." She replied.
"Then why are the both of you still hanging around?" He asked with clear irritation in his voice, he hated when people were being sluggish.
"Darius wanted to inform us about the..." Onyx trembling voice was interrupted by Avian's deep masculine voice.
"We're leaving." He said as he strode out of the room elegantly with his long legs, Onyx followed after him. Lothaire almost stifled a laugh as he sat lazily on the chair.
"What an arrogant bastard." Lothaire cussed loudly. "What sort of problem do we have Darius?" He continued nonchalantly.
"Vampire citizens have been missing for months, we suspect that the sorcerers are probably using them to create monsters." Darius explained as Lothaire gave an interested look on his face.
"We would have gotten rid of the sorcerers if you hadn't have to come up with plans." Lothaire said obviously impatient on destroying them all.
"We don't know how strong the monsters are, we're unprepared for whatever they're creating and the best idea is to await Laverna to give us more knowledge on the creatures." Darius said and Lothaire knew he was right in some ways, they had no idea with what they were dealing with and if the sorcerers were really trying to overthrow them and take their kingdom back, then the creatures would be definitely more powerful, but he was the devil's son, so he wasn't worried about the creatures but still he would listen to Darius and wait for Laverna.
"Fine then, how many vampires have been missing so far?" Lothaire asked with creased brows, he was a bit bothered because the vampire population would now be very low.
"Around twenty." Adina replied as she looked at the tablet on her hand. "They were all males and at least five were taken on every full moon." She continued as she looked at the tablets.
"Don't tell me they're turning them to werewolves." Lothaire joked as he let out a short laugh.
"Full moon, full creation. You can't create something to its most powerful form without the moon being full just like the way werewolves change to their true forms on a full moon." Darius explained but he didn't have to since Lothaire already knew that.
"I wonder what the sorcerers are up to." Zion said with a small voice but Lothaire caught every word.
"Isn't it clear boy, they're trying to take the Empire and wipe off vampires from the face of the earth, too bad I'm immortal and they'll still die at the end whether they succeed or not." Lothaire said with a dangerous glint in his golden eyes.
"You won't let them succeed right?" Zion asked, he didn't want to be wiped off yet, he was the weakest so it'd be easy for them to kill. Lothaire didn't reply him and just smirked instead.
"Larisa's having nightmares, but they don't appear to be normal." Lothaire said to Darius.
"Humans have nightmares, its not so weird." Darius said with a straight face and Lothaire glared at them.
"They feel real, something's messing with her head, she even saw the devil in her nightmares." Lothaire explained and Zion seemed to be the only one with widened eyes.
"She saw your father? That's so cool!" Zion exclaimed with a grin on his face and everyone gave him a death stare. He immediately shut his mouth.
"How sure is she that she saw your father?" Darius asked and Lothaire rolled his eyes in exasperation.
"She described him, he looks exactly like me but he has long hair and he felt different but I doubt he's the one giving her the nightmares, he's not that impatient or reckless either." Lothaire explained and Darius nodded.
"We'll ask Laverna for help if she agrees to come with Onyx and Avian." Darius said.
"Maybe its the sorcerers!" Zion chipped in.
"Maybe, maybe not. They're not that strong to manipulate someone's mind but since they have the power of creation, nothing's impossible." Lothaire said but his guts told him it wasn't the sorcerers, they obviously had no business giving his mate nightmares if they were planning on overthrowing them.
But one creature strongly came to his mind. Hela.
