Chapter 17 - The fight against the unknown

The elegant doctor walks into the room, his step measured and determined, his immaculate white coat contrasting with the anxiety that reigns in the room. He approaches the family gathered around Benjamin's bed, their faces hollow with anguish. He takes a deep breath before beginning to speak, his voice calm and reassuring despite the bad news he has to deliver.

"My dear friends, I'm sorry to tell you that Benjamin's stats have been drastically reduced. We don't know where this disease came from that struck him, or why it befell him in such a cruel way. "Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find a cure for this mysterious illness which has slowly but surely sapped Benjamin's strength, leaving his body weak and exhausted."

He pauses, letting the weight of his words settle before continuing. "I don't promise you that everything will be fine, but I promise you that we will not give up. We will do everything to save Benjamin, to give him a chance to fight against this disease that has taken him in its clutches. We are going to use all the means at our disposal, we are going to delve into the darkest corners of science to find a cure, we are going to pray that luck smiles on us."

He looks each member of the family in the eye, conveying to them all his determination to help them. "We are with you in this ordeal, together we will overcome this ordeal. You can count on me."

The news had hit the family like a blow of fate, a crushing blow that had left them speechless and dazed. An individual's stats determined their place in this ruthless and complex world, where survival depended on strength and power. For them, it was as if all their aspirations and dreams had collapsed in an instant, like the ruins of an ancient temple under the onslaught of a conquering army.

They felt helpless in the face of this cruel reality, where the weak were crushed under the weight of the strong. They felt like they were drowning in an ocean of despair, seeing their future vanish like mirages in the desert. Yet despite everything, they did not lose hope. They clung to the idea that maybe, one day, they could change their destiny and break the chains that kept them prisoners of this implacable universe.

The family stands there, around Benjamin's bed, their hearts broken by the uncertainty of the future. They look at the doctor, their last hope, with undying gratitude for his determination to save their son. They hold hands, united in this ordeal, strong in their love and faith in a better future.

The doctor leaves the room, leaving the family to gather with Benjamin. He goes to his office, where he immerses himself in the medical records, looking for a clue, a hope, to save this child who is fighting for his life. He is determined to do everything to give Benjamin a fighting chance, a chance to live. He knows the battle will be long and difficult, but he is ready to do anything to save this precious life.
