Yu glanced over at the other cloaked lady and the red-eyed slave who was following behind and sighed in his mind for the umpteenth time as he recalled the various things that would happen to slaves.
Walking out of the auction house, the four cloaked figures continued walking through alley after alley until they finally came across a carriage, into which they entered and settled down before the carriage began moving.
Yu had done his best to observe his surroundings, however unfortunately for him, everything looked normal except for the fact that it was warm, relative to the current Hepis Dynasty, and the fact that all the buildings were properly built using brick and mortar then painted over neatly, compared to the shabby excuses of buildings at the villages surrounding the Dread Manor.
Inside the carriage, Yu watched in exasperation as the red-eyed slave, his only comrade in these trying times, began to have a rather pleasant conversation with the two hooded females as though they had become the best of friends.
A faint feeling of betrayal briefly washed over him but Yu reigned in his emotions as he turned his head towards the curtains, and created a slight opening using his little finger to allow him to observe the outside.
Nothing much changed as he travelled through this city, except that the houses became increasingly larger in size, the streets began better pathed, and the people on the streets were wearing better quality clothes and looked healthier.
Clearly, they were heading towards a wealthier section of the city, however, Yu did not expect the segregation between people to be so great. Perhaps if he was born into a normal house, his life might have been like theirs, or worse, his entire life might have been a slave.
In fact, being a slave even now was not a great feeling, and that was considering that essentially half of him was as free as could be. Just imagining what might have happened to him if he had not found that Internal Art left by his mother, and was captured by the slavers instead, brought shivers down Yu's spine.
Soon, the houses turned into manors similar in size to the Dread Manor, before they rapidly rose in size and property to turn from mansions all the way to enormous housing areas Yu could only call Palaces.
As the three ladies continued to talk while ignoring Yu, the system had gained enough information to decode the language and allow him to speak the language. Of course, Kai immediately made it start inputting the data into his mind, which was essentially sharing knowledge in real-time with Yu's mind, who was also gaining knowledge about how to speak this new language.
Slowly, the conversation was coming together in Yu's mind bit by bit while he watched from the outside with his mouth agape.
In front of them was an enormous palace which likely belonged to a king or ruler, since none of the other palaces around it was even half its size. To the right, there were four small palaces, and to the right, there were six palaces. They were currently headed towards one of the smaller palaces to the left of the main palace.
"Are we going to the princess of this nation or something? Is this the Royal Capital of a country?" Yu mumbled unconsciously, half in Ancient Santok since his mind was processing this new language rather fervently right now, and half in the language that Kai had grown up learning, which currently did not have a name, being labelled as Language #1 by the system.
All three in the carriage turned to look at Yu at the same time. Noticing their stares, Yu realised what he had done and chuckled silently before continuing to speak to break the awkward silence, trying his best to speak in Ancient Santok.
"I told you… I… would learn this… you language sooner or later."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"Haha~ Why… silent? What is… name? I am Yu" Yu said trying to break the everlasting silence.
"Ha! See! I told you he was worth something!" The crazy hooded lady exclaimed in joy, and for the first time, Yu understood what she said.
"Tch. Here you go again crazy lady, treating everyone around you as slaves."
"Huh?" The crazy lady suddenly turned her attention to Yu, which startled him greatly.
'Did I say that out loud?' Yu's heart quivered as he realised what he had just done and immediately reached for the lock on the door of the carriage, only to realise that both his hands were already grasped by the crazy lady, who had an insidious expression on her face which might even scare devils back to hell.
"Stop!!"
"Hehe~"
*Crack*
"Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!"
