Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 - World Handbook and Skill selection

Right, so this world is called [Illrya], and there are nine continents. I'm currently on the biggest continent, Megaceris, in the biggest [Labyrinth] in the world. This world has some pretty advanced magitech, which is powered by mana. These [Labyrinths] are caused by the accumulation of mana over millions of years in a certain area on each of the continents, huh...

There are eight humanoid races, collectively known as the "people" of this world, and my race seems to have the longest natural lifespan, but early and late life seem to be a little underwhelming. My race can procreate with members of other races, but not with [Aschende] or [Vallen]...and most of my people live in a [Parallel Dimension] since they're masters of [Spatial Magic].

It seems that souls from other universes being reincarnated into this universe is also pretty common, which explains the diversity of magitech here...apparently the density of mana in this universe is so high that souls are inevitably drawn here after death, and the selects souls which would benefit from being reincarnated here or would benefit this world in some way. After that, it seems that the is pretty hands-off...was it created by someone in this world?

Well, that's a question for later. It seems that this [World Handbook Lv.1] is giving me just basic information about the world so that I'm not completely blind going in, which is nice.

It also seems that reincarnations are at a significant disadvantage from the natives of this world since certain skills have a high level of heritability, and simply being born from parents of this world means that you could have between 3 and 15 pre-loaded skills, depending on how strong your parents are and how many inheritable skills they have. So the gives reincarnations a one-time consumable [Skill Select x5] to give us a baseline starting point so we can actually somehow survive here, but also places us in locations where the skills of our race are somewhat limited so that we can learn to fend for ourselves or die trying...cruel, ne.

Having organised all of this information in my head, I decided that it was time to peruse the skill list to decide what skills I could and would select. The first thing that appeared was:

[Aeon Lv.MAX]

{Skill Description:

Designates a zone of the world to be held in suspended time. The area of interference scales with [MAG] and inversely with target [RES]. The strength of influence scales with [WPR].

Skill Prerequisites:

[Niflheim Lv.MAX] [Dark World Lv.MAX]

[Time Control Lv.MAX] [Thought Uber-Acceleration Lv.Max] [Zone Interference Lv.MAX] [Enduring Influence Lv.MAX]

[Lord of Time] [Indomitable] [Field Marshall] [Ascendant]

[Dark Magician] [Time Sorcerer] [Ice Elemental]

[Aschende Pinnacle Lv.1500]

Skill Select Points necessary - 1,200,000}.

Seeing this, my eyes nearly popped out of my head. A ?? With such an insane effect?? Of course, the number of select points necessary was also a mind-boggling number, not to mention the number and quality of prerequisite skills. And...this was an Aschende-only skill, huh. Just by looking at it, it was clear that a skill like this was the most Ultimate of . Requiring not just 4 Lv.MAX but also 2 Lv.MAX , four insane , three seemingly high-level , along with what appears to be an extremely far evolved at a crazy level...yup, this skill is definitely broken. By the way, I'm just [Vallen Lv.1], so it's clear that I have so far to go if I want to get the corresponding [Vallen] . For now, though, let's just filter by and , and set point limit to 5 while also limiting skill level to 1...

A much shorter, much more normal and reasonable list of skills appeared before my eyes.

Fumu fumu...it's gotta be this, this and this for sure, right? And now for the last two...oya?

Floating before my eyes was [Skill Management Lv.1].

[Skill Management Lv.1]

{Skill Description: Allows user to manually combine and synthesise skills with support. Can create skills not normally within . will update to include new skills and prerequisites created by user, releasing them to be obtainable by others. Chance of successful combination scales with [WPR]. Chance of successful synthesising scales with skill level and [WPR]. Hint: [Aeon] was created through higher-order [Skill Management].

Skill Prerequisites: Hidden.

Skill Select Points necessary - 2}.

My eyes narrowed at the "hint". Was this the telling me to select this skill so I could make my own broken skills? Was it trying to lead me down some kind of pre-determined route? Or would this appear for anyone looking at this skill information as well? Also, if this skill is available, that must mean a bunch of strong people have this too, right? And what's up with that "Hidden" skill prerequisite? This skill is way too suspicious. Way, way, way too suspicious. It's almost- no, it's definitely way too good to be true.

Ne, System-san...are you fucking with me?

The longer I stared at it, the less confident I felt, yet...the stronger the thirst for power to keep myself safe. I still wanted to get out of this [Labyrinth] somehow and enjoy my life as a woman! No one could stand in my way. I would not allow it. After 26 years of hating life and expending every single possible iota of energy just to keep myself going, I was NOT about to throw away this golden opportunity to live my life properly.

-[WPR] has increased from 26 to 34-

A mechanical voice sounded in my head.

Eh? Wait, what the heck is [WPR}, anyway?

...

Re-consulting the [World Handbook Lv.1], it turns out [WPR] is a stat that measures [Willpower]. While other stats measure offensive or defensive parameters, [WPR] is almost like a [LUK] stat. Greater willpower means that you can turn more situations to your advantage, although beyond a certain disparity in strength, this stat becomes completely useless. It's almost like a hidden modifier that can give you the edge in certain situations, and is a necessary prerequisite for bringing certain skills to their full potential, such as . Well, I guess I'll just treat it as another stat in the meantime...

For now, I decided to take [Sense Lv.1], [Identify Lv.1], [Area Cast Lv.1] and [Skill Management Lv.1].
