Sometime later, I awoke. Checking my
Damn, that's a lot for defeating that wolf! Well, to be fair I kinda almost died there...
First off, my level had increased by two. The slaying of the [Hydra Wolf] must have given me over a thousand EXP, it seems. My HP and MP were also slowly recovering from the aftermath of the battle. I had stopped bleeding, and it seemed like the puncture wounds in my arms were slowly closing. It seemed that levelling up had saved me from death, as the [Bleed] condition was making me lose HP but my newly ballooned HP pool was just enough to keep me on the brink of death while the bleeding stopped.
That was...way too close. Way, way too close. I can't afford to lose consciousness again in such a dangerous place.
Checking out my new skills, I couldn't help but smile.

It seems that upon obtaining the knowledge of ranks in this world, I could now see my own rank, as well as the ranks of the monsters I was facing. I had also obtained some amazing skills. The amount of damage I could output seems to have gone up a lot. Furthermore, there were some (+X) numbers next to some of my stats, which seem to be granted by my equipment.
Huh, the more I experience this world, the more I learn about so many little details...
However, there was one! VERY! PRESSING! DETAIL!
I didn't have a name. I suppose since I was reincarnated and felt no association with my deadname, the
System-san, could you show that to me?
Now that I thought about it, I could see my age. Apparently, my age was the same as when I died, 26.
I guess that makes sense?
I had no idea how old or young I looked though. My body just seemed youngish, but without a mirror or frame of reference to other people, I had no way to tell. Anyway, over the past few hours I had finally come up with a name for myself, and since I had some time now anyway while I waited for my HP to reach an acceptable level, I may as well do it.
"[Ava Kino]."
As I spoke it, I felt a rush of ecstatic emotions through my body, but more than that was the rush of mana around me. Confused, I checked my
Uhhhh...what??
I checked my own

Eh??? It seems [Names] in this world are really important, huh...
After reading into [Names] for a while, I got the gist of it. The effect of a [Name] is different depending on the [Namer]. Most organisms can't name themselves due to having a parent, but as I did not have a parent in this world, it was possible for me to name myself. The same would go for an orphan. If they were to grow up by themselves without having a name, they would eventually be able to name themselves. [Names] held sway over the people and monsters of the world. Giving a monster a [Name] would bind them to you, engendering a bond. However, if the monster was too strong, the [Naming] would fail. If the monster became too much stronger than the [Namer], it could break free and kill the [Namer] in the process. A [Namer] could also revoke a [Name], essentially disowning a person or monster and disallowing them from ever having a bond with them again. The [Nameless] people of this world would sometimes be sold as slaves or sell themselves as mercenaries, and if they so choose to be [Renamed], it would indicate a pledging of allegiance to their [Renamer].
Whew, it turns out I didn't do anything crazy after all. I just happened to be in the position to give myself a name.
I resolved to be as careful as possible in the future about giving [Names], recognising that as powerful and interesting as [Names] are, they also could become dangerous and came with a lot of responsibility. More than that, it seemed that my
