Everett had broken into a sob as soon as he made it outside of the threshold of the Lei clan. He was embarrassed, and angry, but he was mostly hurt. Not hurt for the reason that he would have expected himself to be hurt for, however. He could accept Lei Meilin not liking him for being a demon. If she weren't Yongliang's mother.
