Kyla sighed, running her hands through her hair. "Yes, I am a follower of Wisteria, the goddess of the wind. I was born in Aquaking's territory, but I have always felt a connection to Wisteria, as if she is calling to me. When I was in Wendell, I felt her presence even more strongly, and eventually, I couldn't ignore it anymore. I started studying her ways and following her teachings, which has ultimately led me to where I am today."
"What about talking with her? Are you able to do that like I can talk to my goddess?" I asked, but Kyla shook her head.
"I have heard her voice encouraging me, but she has never replied to anything that I have said before," She explained, and I nodded.
"Fine. Zaraki then. What does he want the most, that is material?" I asked, and Kyla thumbed her chin.
"He's always looking for new ways to make money, so anything that has the potential to turn a profit is usually something he'd be interested in. He's also been known to collect rare artifacts from Aquia, as well as magical items and objects with special abilities," She replied, her mind drifting back to the events of the past. "There are rumors that he has something hidden away that no one knows about, some kind of powerful relic or weapon."
"So the man likes shiny dangerous things?" I asked, and Kyla shrugged.
"I guess that is a basic way to sum it up," She said, and then I thought for a few moments.
"I will have to talk with my goddess about what we can do. I don't want to cause an all-out conflict with him, but if he wants something from me, maybe there is a way to make it work," I said, then looked at Kyla. "For now, you are going to stay here with Fawna in her room. You will not be returning to Zaraki, but that does not mean I trust you completely, but this is a start. Now, put the collar back on."
Kyla did as I asked, her face expressionless. I felt sorry for her, having to wear a collar like this, but it was necessary to protect us both. No matter what my personal feelings were in all of this, my survival was what was most important. The rest of the people around me shouldn't be treated as disposable, but they also needed to be useful, or they would fall into the first category.
After the collar was on, I led her back to the room that Fawna was in and then waved for Fawna to come out when Kyla went back in. I had bugs on everyone in the warehouse now, my people and Miles's guards, but I was starting to become limited in what I could do.
"Yes?" Fawna asked after I closed the door, and we stood alone in the hallway.
"Stay with her, and be wary of the future. I am almost sure that Boss Zaraki will try something, but I don't think it will be tonight. I have a bug on you both, so if anything happens, my bug guard will come, got it?" I said, but Fawna frowned at me.
"Are you going out again? Are you sure that is wise? Everyone knows about you now, and I am sure that Ned does as well," Fawna warned, and I nodded.
"I have something that I need to take care of first. Do as I say and nothing more. If trouble comes, you scream, and I will take care of the rest, got it?" I asked, and Fawna nodded.
"Yes, sir," She said, and I smiled before turning away.
I had something to do that I didn't want anyone else to know about, so I left the warehouse silently, keeping to the shadows as I made my way down the street until I came to a large metal door. My rat had scouted the place, and it was an empty building, but the door was locked. That was hardly a problem for me, but I had my rat always pick it for the person that was coming to meet with me.
Once inside, I headed through the large open building that was filled with milling equipment for cutting, bending, and other sorts of things with metal. I had chosen this place because of this and because it was close, but coming here now and seeing it made it clear that this place had been out of use for years now. Everything was covered in a thick layer of dust, but to my surprise, there was no rust on anything.
I kept moving till I reached a back room that seemed to be a coffee room at one point, and there was a man sitting in the dark when I entered the room. This was the guard that I had bugged, and he seemed to have brought some stuff with him like I had asked. I really wasn't sure if he would be able to get anything, but it looks like he made out alright.
"What did you bring me?" I asked as I walked over to the terrified-looking man who looked up at me.
"Everything that you asked for, or at least what we had!" The man said quickly and then handed me the bag quickly. "Now, please take this out of my head!"
I snapped my fingers, and then a bug nestled in his brain shot spikes out in all different directions, killing him instantly. The man had done good, so the least that I could do for him was a quick death. They would find the other two dead guards and then all these missing documents in this bag, and it would only be a matter of time till they caught on to this guy being the culprit, leading back to me. This would still make them suspect this guard for the theft, but he was no longer around to question.
