Chapter 21 - The Revenge of Numera: Setting in Motion a New Future

"I don't know what a soul is, but your essence is still inside of your body. You can use magic, but not in the way that others can. Since you have no mana, you have to use objects that have Mana stored in them. These are called magical items or artifacts. Still, just having an artifact or item won't help you if you do not know how to activate it. Each has phrases engraved as glyphs on them. Some have to be spoken, while others have to be placed in a certain way. The point is that you can use magical items, but you cannot cast yourself... unless you found a way to get Mana into your body, but even at the highest level of my rule, our people never figured that out," Numera explained, and I nodded since it was far better than I had expected.

"Good enough. With the proper people, I will be able to create them myself," I said, looking forward, but then I looked down at Numera with a severe look. "You knew that they were all alive, didn't you?"

Numera looked forward and nodded. "There was no point in telling you that. Better to find out what type of person Ned is and who the Order of Salvation is. They are extremely dangerous, and Ned is going as far as openly forsaking Wisteria," she said, and I snorted.

"I bet that would get you going!" I chuckled, and Numera looked up at me with a scowl.

"Wisteria is not one of the bad ones. I would sooner see her there than any of the other 6. Believe me, when I say this is not good for Wister or the Wisterians. Wisteria cannot aid them now, even if she wants to, which she does. Ned is making enemies with the other nations, but he only has a small army that is 70% ocean forces. The other thirty 30% is spread over less than 1000 Order of Salvation members that are mostly in other countries right now," Numera explained, and I frowned.

"All of that sounds stupid, but a person like that doesn't stay in power if they are stupid, so there must be some rhyme to his reason," I said, and Numera sighed.

"He does have something, but what that is, I do not know, and neither do any of the others. It is widely known that he experiments on others that his order captures, so I will assume it has something to do with that," She said and then narrowed her eyes at me. "Now, you know about the other champions, so what do you plan to do about it?"

"Nothing. The last thing that I need right now is a bunch of wild cards that are just going to draw more attention to me. I also don't know anything about what this body can do or how much platinum I need to get stronger. It would be nice if you could provide me with some of that information; that would be great," I said, but Numera shook her head.

"Your body is limited by your imagination. Your platinum consumption has to do with the things that you are asking your body to do. There is no; you need this much platinum to be able to do this. There is only that you need it to keep getting stronger. I am sure you saw how fast Ned reacted, and that was in a situation where you caught him off guard. Many people use magic to go far past the limits of humans, so keep that in mind. You buff worked with the family heads this time, but you have no idea just how much of a monster they really are compared to your current capabilities," Numera said, and I grinned.

"See? Was that so hard? Now, what can you actually do for me while I am here?" I asked, then added. "I just want to know what I can ask of you in case I do need help."

"I can give you information on the city or whatever else you need to know. I am bound to protect a champion of my power, so if you need help with something that Numerians understand, I can aid in that," Numera said, and I nodded before standing up.

"So, basically nothing other than what you have already been doing?" I asked, and she nodded.

"Your grip on the world is nothing more than a pinhead in your current state, and your power is my power. The greater your influence on the world, the more control you have, and the stronger your power will become. I will be able to give not only you but others you deem worthy of my Mecha-Touch. This will give them a biological mix with technology, making them stronger, live longer, and most importantly, loyal to us both," Numera said, and I crossed my arms.

"About that. How do you plan on doing things if you come down? If what you say is true about Ned, then there must be a reason why he would be scared of her getting control, right? Are you going to come down and think that you own the place?" I asked, and Numera stayed quiet as I watched her.

"I only want to be a mortal again, but I also want to make Aquaking and the others that voted with him to ban my kind from this world," Numera finally said, and I raised an eyebrow.

"Sure, sounds good on paper, and I like the bit about revenge, but words are just blown air or written script in this case. What guarantee do I have that you aren't going to just turn on me when all is said and done? I get you down here, and you try to control me?" I asked. "I am a robot, so it is pretty easy to concede."

Numera shook her head.

"I have no intention of controlling anyone or anything at all. I want us to educate the people here to use technology properly so they can better themselves without relying on gods like Aquaking. We also need to make sure that they understand the need to defend against such threats if they arise again," She said, and I rolled my eyes.
