Chapter 23 - The Shadow of the Grand Mistress: Alizra's Plot for Total Domination

"Since she is a guest, and a messenger, you will not lay a hand on her. Send her in as she is, and know that I do not put up with the rape or molestation of women. If I catch you or any of the men engaging in those acts, I will cut your dicks off myself, got it? Just because you are part of the underworld does not mean that you have become less of a man. See to it that the men that you keep from this list follow that practice, so I don't have to make an example out of someone," I ordered, and Miles paled, his hand unconsciously moving to cover his crotch.

"Y-yes, sir. I will make sure that your orders are followed," he said as he quickly left the room, and about ten minutes later, a woman entered the room.

She was tall with dark skin, long black hair that curled at the ends, and golden eyes that shone with intelligence. She had an air of power and authority around her, but there wasn't anything aggressive to it; it was almost calming in nature.

"You must be Grand Mistress Manta's messenger," I said with a bow of my head. "You can call me Razor."

She smiled and bowed her head slightly before taking a seat across from me.

"It is nice to meet you, Razor; my name is Kilna. I have heard much about you already, and it seems that you have done well in the short time you have been here," she said, and I nodded.

"Thank you. What brings you here today?" I asked, and she chuckled before leaning back in her chair.

"A few things. Firstly, Alizra has asked me to explain the details of the shipment you will be guarding tomorrow night. The other is to offer you my services," Kilna said in a sensual tone, but that only made me narrow my eyes on her.

"If you haven't noticed, I am made from metal, so pleasantries of the flesh don't concern me currently," I said, and Kilna frowned at me.

"I am sorry if I came across that way, but it is just my natural way of speaking to men, and you are one, even if made from metal. Regardless, I came here on Manta's orders to serve as a scribe of sorts. You seemed to have gotten ahold of some secret documents, and I know how to remove the seals on them. Not only that, but I can also put them back on," She explained, and I nodded, relaxing, but only slightly.

"What talent are you given? What do you specialize in? Is it this?" I asked, but she shook her head.

"No, I actually specialize in Necromancy. I don't normally share that, but something tells me I should be frank with you," Kilna said, and that made me grin.

"That something is wise. I am not the type that likes games or beating around the bush. Now, Necromancy, what is that exactly?" I asked, and Kilna lifted an eyebrow at me.

"You don't know what it is?" She asked, and I shrugged.

"You raise dead bodies and make them do things, right?" I asked, and she nodded.

"I see. Yes, that is something that we can do, but we also work on preventing death and illness, as well as healing wounds. It is a very delicate job that requires precision and attention to detail," Kilna said, and I nodded.

"I see. So, why did you want to work for me?" I asked, but Kilna seemed in awe of me for some reason.

"You really don't care that I am a Necromancer?" She asked, without answering me.

"I am made out of metal, and I don't care what you do as long as you do what I ask, and what you do doesn't interfere with that. Are you playing with dead bodies going to make it hard to do your job for me if I do choose to take you?" I asked, and she shook her head.

"No, of course not. I will do whatever is asked of me," she said firmly, and I nodded.

"That is all good and fine, but I have one final question for you. Depending on how you answer, this will decide if I have you work with me," I said, and Kilna nodded. "Good. Now, what was the real reason that Alizra Manta sent you here?" I asked.

Kilna's eyes widened slightly, but she didn't seem surprised by my question at all. Instead, she seemed to understand why I was asking it.

"She sent me here because she thought you could help her with her plans," Kilna said without hesitation, and I nodded.

"And what are those plans?" I ask, knowing that this is the biggest question.

Kilna hesitated for a moment before speaking as if measuring her words before saying them. "Her plan is to take over Wendell legally through manipulation of the political system. She thinks that if it is done right, then no one will be able to stop her, and she will be able to remove Ned," Kilna finished, and I nodded slowly.

"I see. That makes sense; she wouldn't want to waste an army when she can gain control through cunning," I said, and Kilna nodded.

"That is exactly why she sent me here, to get your help in doing just that. Alizra thinks that you will be able to get things that would be invaluable to our cause," she explained, and I looked at her for a moment.

"You have given me much to think about, Kilna. I will let you know soon if I am going to accept Alizra's offer or not," I said finally, and Kilna nodded before getting up.

"Of course, Razor. Thank you for your time." She said with a bow and then left the room.

Once she was gone, I sat back in my chair, thinking more about what she had said. Alizra was clearly a worrier who wanted total domination, and while that wasn't something I usually got involved in, it would give me some advantages if I did manage to influence her actions. With that in mind, I decided to accept her offer, though I still had some reservations about where things were heading. Still, I had the feeling that I would come out on top in the end, so I continued my surveillance, looking for spies and trying to figure out what else Alizra Manta had planned.
