"Start here, dig up holes and we will come and plant tomorrow." The woman said as she handed her a farm tool for digging holes.
"Why can't we dig and plant today?" Lin Wangshu inquired from the woman.
"No reason really, you dig and plant then come help us plant tomorrow." The woman replied.
"I am no fool. I cannot help you do your work when you did not help me do mine." Lin Wangshu told the woman.
"Well then do as you please and do not forget that you sleep in my house." The woman replied.
"What if I live in the neighbour's house?" Lin Wangshu asked.
"Do not worry our neighbour also comes to help us plant and dig,you can stay there for free and dig here as well." The woman replied.
"You can begin my dear daughter,
Yun ér,do not be stubborn." The woman said as she left while whistling.
Lin Wangshu stared angrily at the ground before sitting down on the ground again.
'Is this a game or are they trying to fool me? Well no matter what, living and having fun is more important so I do not mind." She then stood up and glanced around the place.
It was a farm with nothing else but bare ground.
She had not yet even once learnt how to dig.
She relied on her wits and looked at how the woman was doing it.
After learning, she then lifted the farm tool and dug up the ground and pulled up the soil leaving a hole.
She then placed the soil aside and continued that until the end of the farm.
The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky.
The sky was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun.
The woman walked to where Lin Wangshu had been sitted while chewing a dry grass.
"Let us go home, but we have to pass through the market and buy the necessary materials to cook supper." The woman said to her.
"Why can't you go and buy alone? What is there to be carried? It is not like you have to carry the whole market home." Lin Wangshu suggested.
"No worries, stay here until morning when we come again, I go ahead and buy, me and my husband eat." The woman said as she turned around to leave.
"No problem, you will have to explain to the chancellor how you killed your daughter." Lin Wangshu said.
"I will simply tell him that she was too weak and died on her own." The woman replied.
"You will be struck by thunder tonight." Lin Wangshu said to the woman.
"If thunder comes, you too will be struck for disobeying me." The woman said to her.
"Are you coming or not?" The woman asked her.
Lin Wangshu had no other choice, she really liked eating, so she simply woke up from her spot and followed her unwillingly.
The woman handed her a basket made of sisal and they walked together with Lin Wangshu following the woman.
The woman then returned the farm tools to a bamboo hut, it seemed that it had been built for storing the farm tools.
The capital of the unknown place was filled with shoppers who flooded the city from all directions.
It was decorated with different coloured lanterns , paper cuttings that were hanged throughout the routes.
The shops were all open and the shop owners could be heard shouting out calling for customers.
The aroma of foods being cooked in various food stalls and restaurants drifted in the warm air.
There were little children who could be seen playing with each other happily smiling while some were walking around holding their parent's hands dearly.
The children wore brightly coloured cotton clothing while some wore silk clothings embroidered with flowers, fruits, animals and insects each endowed with protective properties to ward off evil as well as to bring the child success in the future.
