As I heard the scream I tensed, Melody was screaming and when I looked down I noticed why.
An arrow.
It was pierced through her thigh, the barbed tip had easily pierced her clothes and flesh. Time seemed to stand still. Mechanically, I turn around and what I see immediately enrages me.
A legion of monsters, Hellhounds, Cyclopes, and I can even make out a chimera. It is then I noticed the archer, standing about 5'4ft with a cascade of snakes for hair. Her arm still tensed from where she released the arrow, I hadn't fought a Gorgon yet so I was unsure which sister it was as it obviously wasn't Medusa as she wouldn't bother with range.
"aaahhh" Melody cried, bringing me out my thoughts. Immediately, I equip my armour and spear and throw Melody to a nearby blonde camper, who caught her, and sunk into stance.
Silence.
Then I roared.
Sprinting at the legion with Gae Bolg in my right hand, the Hellhounds where the first to approach and die. Falling apart like sand in the wind.
My strikes continued to mow down my foes as their dusty remains coated me.
Shiing.
An arrow narrowly missed me, reminding me of my early ire. Bloodlust is released from me with such intensity that the monsters halt as I tear apart a Cyclops by bisecting it. Rage is covering me like a cloak, a feral smile spread across my face as I looke for more monsters to slaughter.Pile after pile started gathering as their army of hundreds is reduced by the second. Fully utilising my servants stats the minor wounds I do receive aren't even registering due to my Battle constitution. My stamina has never felt so vigorous, nothing can stop me as I am filled with euphoria until it happens I come to the last survivor.
Slowly, I turn to face the Gorgon sister and as I do I can see the realisation on her face.
Looking around I see I reduced this Legion of monsters into golden dust only a handful of piles remain. Focusing on the Gorgon, Melody's face flashes before me. Her face full of pain and her scream haunting me.
Gae Bolg's natural malice is mixing with my own. Wrathful I Yelled.
"GAE BOLG, STRIKE HER HEART!"
With an almost child like glee, Gae Bolg is launched and as she tries to dodge reality is once more re-written to satisfy both our bloodlust.
As she falls, I notice she is still alive. As I approach I hear her laughing and my rage returns.
"What's so funny, your almost dying with laughter. It's kind of against the whole premise of me SLAUGHTERING all of your army. So be a dear, and inform me of how you came upon us?" I "calmly" asked the Gorgon.
Unaware at the time, some campers had approached and were listening in. A camper around 17yrs old armed with a sword was slowly walking towards us with a considering look upon his face as he analysed me, but I paid it no mind.
"ha ha ha, You believe we were after you! How conceited. We were told to track down the girl weeks ago but she kept going if the r-rad...r." She spluttered, coughing up dust as she did."Her Mother... has made an ene-emy in Hecate who helped us locate her. Unfortunately, that didn't help when she was guarded by a knight of Lugh. I thought they were wiped OUT!" she finished just as she dusted leaving me with many questions ,as I for the first time considered my own divine heritage, before briefly shuddering when I realised my pantheon has Fay, a camper patted me on the shoulder.
As I turned around the first thing I noticed has an angry scar over his eye the top of which almost hidden by his blond hair and his orange camp shirt had some dust from the remains.
"Is Melody alright!" I demand, not caring who I was speaking to, even knowing who he was.
"Yes we got a couple of Apollo campers with her in the infirmary and being trea-" That's as far as he got before I was tearing of towards Melody. Not caring who saw.
Gae Bolg faded when I arrived and could see she was asleep on one of the beds. I approached her bed before sitting next to it. Idly stroking her hair, I started to process what happened and trying to figure out how they got passed my runes. Then it came to me, HECATE that goddess or titaness of magic, The Gorgon said she helped to locate us therefore she breached my runes. Just the thought of that drove me livid, only Melody's presence calming my more murderous urges.
Could I even kill a god? The only Godly death in canon that I remember was Pan, god of the wild and even that was after 2 thousand years as well as the planets deterioration he still lived in due to his worshippers even with him being alone for that time. What I did know was that Hecate won't be getting off easy I don't care what beef she has with my charges Mother it has become personal.
It's also strange how this is affecting me, just how attached I've become to This demigoddess she is my greatest link in this life as well as my goal to make sure all demigods are safe even that is linked to her at this point. I don't believe I could even train her seriously at this point as I can see myself going easier on her.
Glancing at her again, a smile is spread across her face, takes my mind away as I start to relax and one more contemplate what was said.
What the monsters didn't know was they had given me a target which caused us pain but I'm unsure I could beat. The idea of the hunt led me to grinning as only Cuchulain could as he pictured fights yet to be had and fought against those stronger...
I wonder if Teacher would visit me if I also gained the title Godslayer.
