Like said before in the previous chapter, your catfish hatchery ponds could be metal baths, plastic bowls, concrete ponds or wooden and tarpolin ponds materials.
The preparation necessary here is mainly the construction of the water drainage pipes, the water inlet pipes and the water bubbling pipes (if possible).
The drainage pipe is perforated and wrapped with nylon net to allow for water exit but prevent the escape of newly hatched larvae.
The hatchery is also properly enclosed to make for adequate heat generation and retention.
The water inlet pipes are connected with perforated horizontal pipes to make for splashing of water at the head of the ponds.
The hatchery ponds floor is sloped towards the exit pipes to make for easy removal of wastes as the water flows out.
Lastly, the hatchery ponds are manured by using organic materials like poultry droppings in feed bags and plantain leaves for over 2 weeks.
There is also pond treatment chemicals sold in fish stores.
With these amount of preparations for your hatchery, you are good to go.
