Chapter 9 - Western restaurant

According to the instructions of the Wealth Redemption System, Rick needed to invest money in Emily to raise her favorability towards him, which was also an opportunity to earn system rewards.

Rick took out his cell phone from his pocket and found the phone number Emily had given him earlier. He took a deep breath, then dialed the number. On the other end of the phone, Emily's voice came through, warm and familiar. "Hi Emily, it's me, Rick." He tried to sound as relaxed and happy as possible. "Oh, Rick, what's up?" Emily asked with a hint of curiosity in her tone. "I was trying to reach you; where are you now?" Rick asked, already having a plan in mind.

Emily replied, "I just got off work, downtown. What's going on?" "Don't leave; wait for me; I'll come find you." Rick said quickly, then added, "Don't you leave." Emily laughed softly on the other end. "Okay, I'll wait for you. Don't keep me waiting too long, oh." After hanging up, Rick's heart raced. He knew that this was a great opportunity to boost Emily's favorability. He quickly walked out of the classroom and crossed the campus intending to head towards the city center.

As Rick stepped off campus, his eyes scanned the streets, looking for a cab. Soon enough, he waved down a cab with an "empty" sign on it. The door opened, and he got in, closing the door behind him. "Downtown, please," Rick said succinctly to the driver, a hint of anticipation in his voice.

The driver glanced at Rick through the rearview mirror and nodded. "Okay, sit tight." As the words fell from his lips, the driver lightly stepped on the gas, and the cab smoothly blended into the traffic. As the cab weaved through the busy streets, Rick quietly looked out the window, his mind calculating his upcoming meeting with Emily. As the vehicle moved forward, the skyscrapers of the city center gradually came into view, with tall buildings, neon lights, and bustling crowds.

Rick's eyes wandered between the shopping center and the various stores; his mind already had a plan. He decided to take Emily to the most upscale shopping center in the city center, where there were all kinds of designer clothes, jewelry, and fine restaurants.

Rick thought that a carefully selected gift and a memorable dinner, it would surely be effective in boosting Emily's favorability towards him. Soon, the cab pulled up alongside the busiest street in the city center.

Rick paid the fare, thanked the driver again, and stepped out of the car. He stood there and took a deep breath, taking in the bustling atmosphere of the city center, before taking a step toward the location he had agreed to with Emily.

Rick strolled along the sidewalks of downtown, his eyes weaving in and out of the crowds, looking for Emily. The streets were lined with a wide array of stores and colorful billboards; the people on the streets were either in a hurry or relaxed and the bustle and energy of the city could be felt at every corner.

Rick's mood was both excited and a little nervous. He knew Emily was nearby, and he imagined meeting her, thinking about how to start their conversation. His feet traveled through the crowd, glancing around from time to time, hoping to find her soon. It was then that Rick's eyes landed on a bench not far away. Emily was sitting there, her figure standing out in the crowd.

She seemed to be looking for Rick as well, glancing around from time to time. Suddenly, Emily's eyes met Rick, and a look of surprise appeared on her face. She hurriedly stood up and waved to Rick, exclaiming, "Over here, Rick!" Rick's heart raced as he picked up his pace and walked toward Emily. Emily stood there, her eyes filled with anticipation and curiosity.

She watched as Rick approached, her mind feeling both excited and a little curious about this sudden arrival. Rick walked up to Emily, his eyes honest and welcoming. "Emily, it's been a long wait." He smiled, a hint of relief and confidence in his voice. Emily returned the smile and said, "No." She replied, her eyes twinkling with curiosity about what was about to happen.

With curiosity in his eyes, Rick smiled and asked, "Emily, have you had lunch yet?" Emily shook her head gently, a hint of shyness in her smile. "Not yet, Rick." "Well then, I'm buying today." Rick finished, looking around, his eyes sweeping over the restaurant signs lining the street as if looking for a suitable restaurant. "Anything good around here?" He asked, his tone revealing a hint of anticipation.

Emily thought for a moment, then replied, "There's a famous Western restaurant just over there." She pointed to an elegantly decorated restaurant not far away and said, "But it's expensive." Rick looked in the direction Emily was pointing, and he saw the sign of that Western restaurant. Through the window, he could see the elegant décor and the diners inside. He turned his head with a disinterested expression and said to Emily, "Okay, that's the restaurant. Why don't you take me there, my treat?" Emily was a little surprised; she hadn't expected Rick to be so generous. "Are you sure, Rick? It's really not cheap there." She reconfirmed.

Rick smiled and nodded. "Of course, I'm sure. I want you to enjoy a nice lunch today. Don't worry about the price." Then, led by Emily, Rick joined her and walked into the famous Western restaurant together. As soon as they entered, they were surrounded by a high-quality atmosphere.

The interior of the restaurant was elegantly decorated, with every detail revealing refinement and taste. Fine art paintings hung on the walls, and the soft light cast on the polished wooden floor reflected a faint luster. The seats in the dining room are all high-grade leather products; the dining table is covered with detailed linen tablecloths; and each table is decorated with shining silverware and exquisite crystal glasses. The air was filled with the faint scent of flowers and the aroma of fine cuisine, making it peaceful and pleasant. Rick and Emily were ushered to a window seat that overlooked the bustle of downtown. The waiter handed over the menu, the cover of which was made of genuine leather with a delicate feel, and each page listed a variety of elaborate dishes and corresponding wine recommendations. Emily looked around, her eyes twinkling with appreciation for this fine establishment.

It was not often that she had the opportunity to dine in a place like this, so everything about it was new and exciting. Rick, on the other hand, looked subdued, his eyes skimming over the menu as the waiter waited patiently for them to order; his manner was respectful and professional, advising and confirming Rick and Emily's choices. When their orders were complete, the waiter politely stepped back, leaving them with a quiet dining environment.
