Chapter 8 - Is it really Rick?

A low murmur rang through the classroom when the professor finally announced Rick's name. "Rick? A perfect score?" The students whispered, clearly in disbelief at the result. Their eyes focused on Rick again, this time no longer questioning but filled with curiosity and reassessment.

When the professor clearly announced Rick's name, confirming that he was the winner of the perfect score for the raid, the atmosphere in the classroom immediately became lively.

The whispers of the students gradually rose to a high pitch as they exchanged surprised looks and disbelieving expressions. "Rick? A perfect score?" The name was passed around among the classmates, and everyone was discussing the unexpected result.

They began to think back to Rick's performance on the exam, trying to find clues to explain this shocking turn of events. The murmurs were filled with appreciation from some students, while others discussed how Rick had done it.

Some of the same students who had once ignored Rick were now beginning to look at him in a different light, realizing that they may have been underestimating him all along.

In a corner of the classroom, Sophia heard the bombshell as well. She turned her head and glanced at Rick, a flicker of mixed emotions in her eyes. As Rick's ex-girlfriend, she used to know his academic performance like the back of her hand, and now Rick's sudden success has confused and surprised her.

Sophia's heart was mixed; she felt both a twinge of regret and a sense of betrayal. She once thought Rick was a man with no future, but now his score makes her begin to question her judgment. Rick felt the stares from his classmates, including Sophia's. He didn't show too much emotion but remained calm and humble.

But inside his heart, he was silently muttering, "It's just my general play; is there a need to be so surprised? Or was I so bad before that I made them all think the world had changed this time?" He couldn't help but reflect that perhaps it was his previous mediocre performance that had shocked everyone with this leap.

Rick realized that it was often easy to judge others based on past experiences, ignoring the fact that everyone had the potential to change and grow. In the back row of the classroom, fat Peter sat behind Rick, who was bewildered when he heard the professor announce that Rick had gotten a perfect score.

Peter's thoughts began to wander, and he realized a not-so-good fact: if Rick was no longer last in the class, then he, who had been in the bottom two for a long time, would have to take Rick's place as the new last.

A pained expression appeared on Peter's face as he muttered in his heart, "No way, how did this Rick guy suddenly change his ways? What am I going to do now?" He knew that his study habits weren't good and he usually didn't work hard, but now this sudden change made him feel unprecedented pressure.

He looked at Rick's back, his eyes filled with complex emotions. On the one hand, he was happy for Rick's progress; after all, they were friends too; on the other hand, he felt anxious that he was about to become the new bottom one.

Then, the professor's voice rang out again, clearly announcing, "Bobby, your grade is 99." The atmosphere in the classroom softened, and the students cast sympathetic glances at Bobby. Although 99 points was already a very high score for most people, in this class, for a school bully like Bobbi, this mere one-point difference was extraordinarily heavy.

The students knew that Bobby always strived for perfection, striving for a perfect score on every test, and this mistake had put him on the brink of perfection. The students began to whisper and express their regret for Bobby: "It's too bad; Bobby was only one point short of a perfect score." "Bobby has always been the best; this time he was really unlucky."

"I wonder which question went wrong; he must be disappointed." Bobby himself sat quietly in his seat; his face didn't have much expression, but a hint of regret was revealed in his eyes. He knew that the mistake was due to a tiny oversight, a mistake that could have been avoided.

After distributing all the papers, the professor stood in front of the podium, his gaze sweeping across the class, and he finally rested on Rick. His voice was firm, with a hint of unquestionable authority: "I am skeptical of Rick's grade today. Tomorrow in my class, I will test Rick again to verify his true level."

These words caused a slight commotion in the classroom. The eyes of students turned to Rick; their eyes were filled with curiosity and anticipation. Some of the students began whispering and talking about tomorrow's test. "We'll see if you're gold or shit tomorrow." The professor said it in a serious tone, which quickly spread among the students.

It expressed both skepticism about the veracity of Rick's abilities and implied an anticipation of the upcoming test. Rick's expression remained calm in the face of the professor's open questioning.

He knew that the perfect score had touched the sensitive nerves of some people, especially those students who had always considered themselves above the rest. But he also understood that this test would be the perfect opportunity for him to prove himself.

As the bell rang, the students in the classroom began to pack their bags and prepare to leave. But unlike in the past, their attitude towards Rick had changed significantly. In the past, Rick was often the object of ridicule and mockery from his classmates, and they were always disdainful of his grades and abilities. But now, Rick's sudden improvement shocked everyone, and they began to look at him in a new light.

Some of his classmates cast cautious glances at Rick as they left their seats, others with a hint of caution. He noticed the glances they were casting; those eyes that were once filled with mockery were now cautious. Something in Rick's heart didn't feel right as he muttered, "What kind of attitude is this from them? Don't they see me as a human being anymore?" He was confused and puzzled, not understanding why his classmates' attitudes had shifted so dramatically. Rick knew that his improved grades were the result of the combined effects of the Wealth Redemption System, but he didn't expect it to cause such a dramatic change in his status in the eyes of his classmates.
