Sano could feel his body about to collapse from all the blood he had lost in his arm, completely forgetting that he was still injured. Kylo's eyes scanned Sano's wound and helped him lay down against the cave wall, crouching to his side. "You're hurt. I can heal you if you allow me to."
"You can... heal?" Sano asked, trying to stay conscious.
"Yes, but most find it to be disturbing," Kylo replied
"I don't mind as long as it means this awful pain goes away..."
Kylo gave a soft smile before carefully taking Sano's shirt off to help him better reach the wound. He grabbed the other's arm, scrutinizing it before he began to lick the blood off. Sano flinched at the sudden sensation, feeling it sting for a moment before the pain suddenly stopped. Kylo coated his wielder's wound with his silva, and it didn't take long before the bleeding ended and the puncture began to close. Kylo soon pulled away, whipping the blood from his mouth and leaving Sano in disbelief. The wound where the arrow once was vanished completely, leaving only a scar.
"How..? That's, that's amazing," Sano commented, still stunned.
"I know I am~" Kylo chuckled. "You're blood tasted sweet. It was nice~" he teased. Sano still felt a bit tired but didn't feel like he would faint any moment. He looked at Kylo, analyzing the other before asking, "What are you exactly? You say you are a sword, but normal swords don't turn into humans or heal with saliva. Are you a demon of some kind?"
Kylo laughed at the other's assumption, "A demon?" he laughed a little more before speaking, "I haven't been called a demon before by my wielders. That's the first, but to answer your question. I don't know. I've lived for so long that my memory is blurred. I don't remember exactly how I became like this or who I am."
"But you remember your name?" Sano questioned, gaining a nod from the other, "I do because my wielders always refer to me as the Sword of De Lin and then beg for my power. However, I did name myself Kylone as I wanted a more human-like name, like what my wielders have." Kylo explained.
"So, you remember your wielders?" Sano continued to ask as he became more curious. Kylo took a moment to process the question before explaining, "I do, somewhat. I remember more of my last wielder than the others. When I am asleep, it's just like when one usually sleeps. It feels like seconds to me, while it was over a thousand years in reality. I have glimpses of moments containing my memories of my older wielders but nothing from the very beginning."
"I see. I suppose that makes sense" Sano adjusted himself to be more comfortable against the cave wall. He didn't know what Kylo was, but Kylo himself had no idea. Considering most of what he knows about the other, he decided to refer to him as a demon. After all, he thrives off of death, takes one's soul, and even enjoys the blood of his wielders. There was no doubt in Sano's mind that the person in front of him was a demon. He was not one to believe such myths, but his beliefs were changed entirely after Kylo appeared.
"Enough about me. I want to know more about my precious wielder~" Kylo leaned in closer before licking Sano's cheek gently. Sano flinched once again as it stung like before. He assumed it must have been another wound he got that Kylo was healing for him. He was honestly too tired to fight back or push the other away from him. Kylo pulled away, licking his lips, "All better now~" he chuckled, watching the cut on his wielder's cheek disappear.
"Thanks..." Sano let out exhaustedly. Kylo hummed before sitting next to Sano. That way, he could support the other's body weight, "We can talk more after you rest. Go ahead and sleep now," Kylo spoke gently and calmly. The soothing voice was enough to put Sano into a deep sleep instantly. Sano's head fell to the side, against Kylo, while the so-called "demon" guided Sano's head to lay in his lap. He played with his wielder's hair while he slept peacefully.
Time went on as the sun began to rise, filling the cave with the sunlight that shined through. Sano's breathing quickened as he started to sweat, overheating. Concerned, Kylo leaned in to feel the other's temperature, placing a hand on his cheek. The slight touch on his cheek made Sano panic and sit up quickly, waking from his nightmare. However, doing so caused them to bash their heads together and whine in pain as Sano's head fell back down on Kylo's lap. Both held their foreheads, wincing from the headache they both received.
"agh... I didn't know you would sit up so fast... are you okay? You were sweating so much," Kylo questioned, continuing to rub his swore forehead.
"I'm fine... I just had a nightmare..." Sano replied as he, too, rubbed his head from the pain.
Once they both could relax their throbbing heads, Sano sat up carefully, putting himself next to Kylo. They sat down in the silence of the cave, hearing the birds chirp. Kylo was amazed by the view of the sunset they could see from the shelter. However, the bright yellow and orange firey sky only brought back terrible memories for Sano. He looked away, focusing more on Kylo, "Let's go. I need to get my friend back as quickly as possible. Who knows what they will do to him..." he stood, about to exit the cave, before he felt his stomach growling. It was loud enough for even Kylo to hear. A soft chuckle was heard from behind Sano, "Why don't we eat first?" the demon asked.
Sano turned to Kylo, who stood behind him, "You have food?" Sano asked.
"No, but the forest does. So let's find something to hunt and eat," Kylo suggested.
Sano sighed softly, "Fine. I need to have as much energy as possible before I fight anyways" Sano stepped outside of the cave, and to his surprise, everything was different than how he remembered. He couldn't even find the way he entered as if it no longer existed, "What? How is this possible?" Sano questioned in disbelief.
"What's wrong?" Kylo asked as he, too, stepped outside and admired the beautiful scenery. The trees are of all different colors, such as blues, reds, pinks, and greens. The grass was thick and full of flowers. Animals scattered everywhere and ran around, along with butterflies flying from flower to flower. Sano found it to be just like a scene from a fairy tale. He turned to Kylo with concern, "Where is the way out?"
"The forest has changed. When I awaken, the forest shifts. We lie in the deepest part of the forest—the safest and calmest place. The human territory is far from here if I remember correctly." Kylo explained.
"Damn it... This will take me much longer than I had hoped for..." Sano mumbled, already worried he wouldn't make it to Naka in time. His thought was interrupted by Kylo's hand on his shoulder, "We'll make it, don't worry," he spoke positively as if he had read Sano's mind.
Suddenly Kylo's attention focused on a two-headed deer that appeared between some trees, "Look," he whispered in Sano's ear, giving him chills from Kylo's breath. Sano glanced over to the two-headed deer in shock. He's never seen such a creature before.
Kylo took Sano's hand, catching the other off guard, "What are you doing?"
"Feeling my wielder's gentle touch~" he teased with a chuckle before explaining his true reasonings, "You don't have enough power to call me a sword to your hand. So you must hold my hand and tell me when to switch. Since we're connected, my body will turn into a blade and appear in your hands."
Sano was still confused about how this worked, but he understood what Kylo meant. He took a moment before speaking the words, curious as to if it would work, "Switch," he said. To his surprise, Kylo formed a sword that appeared in his hands instantly. The blade was long and sharp but thin and light in weight. The sword made Sano awe at its beauty as it was more beautiful than any of the other katanas he's ever had. Sano tilted the blade up, watching the sliver shine in the sunlight and reflect his appearance, able to meet his own eyes. However, he felt he was entirely drained of his energy just from holding the blade.
You must be quick| a voice appeared in Sano's head, making him flinch at the sudden voice, which sounded like Kylo.
"How are you in my head!?"
This is how I can communicate with you since we are now connected. You must hurry. You don't have enough energy to keep me in this form. I will be forced to switch back to my human condition in a few minutes|
Sano was still shocked at what was happening, but he took the demon's advice and made his advancements toward the deer quick and quiet. He could feel his body weakening as his energy was being drained from him. He couldn't run to the deer, so he thought about throwing Kylo at the deer instead.
That can work. If you throw me as hard as you can, I will do the rest to make sure I kill it. It would be best if you pulled me out quickly before I turned into my human form. Unless you want to see a deer conbust|
Sano was concerned when he heard the other reply to his thoughts, not his words. Now he was worried if Kylo could read his private reviews. However, he didn't have time to focus on that. Instead, he got into position and carefully aimed Kylo at the deer before using the rest of his energy to throw the sword as hard as he could. Finally, Kylo could direct himself to the weak spot he saw on the deer, putting in power as he penetrated the animal, killing it. Quickly, Sano ran to pull the sword out, and once he did, Kylo returned to normal.
They both panted for air and sat down, resting next to the dead animal. Then, once Sano finally caught his breath, he spoke up, "You can read my thoughts too?"
Kylo shook his head, "Not anymore. I can in my sword form since we are connected, but I can only hear the thoughts you WANT to say. Nothing too personal, more like surface-level thoughts. It's to help me fight with you and prepare myself for what you want. That way, the battle ends smoothly without you always telling me what to do. That only wastes more energy," he explained.
Sano was able to relax once he heard the other explanation. He was glad that Kylo couldn't read his more profound thoughts as he preferred to keep his privacy to himself, "I understand. That does make things a lot easier," he agreed.
The two finally got up to bring the two-headed deer back to the cave, but Kylo complained at how tired and weak he was from being in his sword form and forced Sano to carry the deer around on his own while Kylo happily followed behind. Once they made it to the cave, Kylo took over the cooking, ripping the deer apart with his bare hands before cooking it in a fire they had made. Sano sat shaking his head in disappointment, watching the other who complained about carrying the deer but was now ripping it apart with his bare hands. Finally, the two were able to eat, and soon after, they fell into a nap as they were both drained of energy and full from an excellent meat dish.
