"Is there a place around here where I can wash up? I feel dirty and need to clean myself," Sano asked. Kylo stood up and helped his wielder up as well. Kylo smiled at the other before nodding his head, "Yes, I'm sure there is a lake around here somewhere," he spoke before stepping out of the cave. Naturally, Sano followed behind him as the sword guided him through the forest. Sano had to admit that the scenery was beautiful, even at night. Some fireflies lit up the dark woods as they made their way to the lake. As soon as they arrived, Sano stood in amazement. The beautiful water was a bright blue and shimmered in the moonlight. He has never seen water so clear and healthy. It looks like it was never touched or tainted by the environment around it.
Sano watched as Kylo leaned over the edge of the lake and dipped his fingers in before sighing in happiness, "It's warm~" he commented, making the other tilt his head with confusion, "It's warm?" Sano questioned.
Klyo raised his hand and waved Sano over, "Come feel it. It's nice" Sano followed his orders and stepped forward before crouching down onto his knees and placing his hands in. He traced the water with his fingers, surprised to find that Kylo was right. How was the water this nice and warm? Maybe it's fish pee, the thought made him pull his hand out of the water, but not before Kylo grabbed his wrist, "Can you swim?" the sword asked, his eyes piercing into Sano's. Dazed by looking at Kylo, his heart pounding against his chest. It took him a moment before he nodded at Kylo's words, "A little."
A slight grin appeared on the demon's face as he stood up and jumped into the water, still holding a grip on Sano's wrist, pulling him in after. Sano shouted before the water drowned out his voice. It took a moment, but Kylo pulled them both above the surface. Sano gasped for air before coughing up water. He pushed Kylo away from him only to be pulled back into his arms, "What the hell!?" he yelled after finally catching his breath. Kylo chuckled softly, "Sorry, I guess I was a little rough."
"A little? I could've died!"
"But you didn't." Kylo debated
"I could've!"
"You wouldn't." Kylo's voice softened.
"You don't know that."
"I do because I would have saved you" He leaned into Sano, his breath against Sano's nose, "I would have given you my breath so you could breathe" Kylo pulled Sano's body close to his, their chests together, "I would have given you my warmth so you wouldn't be cold."
Sano went silent as he didn't know how to respond to the other words. They were so close that it made him nervous, his heart pounding against his chest, but he surprisingly kept his calm composure although his face was slowly glowing red. Then, finally, Sano escaped Kylo's grasp and pulled away, "I can save myself," he mumbled, turning his face away so Kylo couldn't see how embarrassed he was.
"Oh?" a chuckle escaped Kylo's lips, "I don't doubt that I suppose."
Sano was quiet as he placed a hand on his heart and gripped the fabric of his shirt. Why was he acting this way? This wasn't him. Why was it so difficult for him to keep his composure around Kylo? Indeed, there's no way that he... no... he couldn't. The other was a demon, a sword demon, or some being that wasn't human. Either way, these feelings were not acceptable. He barely knows this person, and they haven't spent more than a week together. Sano needed to calm down and regain his mental focus. He needs to stick to his plan with no interruptions.
Sano glanced over at Kylo, and it was hard for Sano not to think of the things he started to enjoy about the sword. The other was way too playful and seemed not to take some things seriously, but that brought back memories of his family, which was somehow calming. Kylo barely knew him, yet he treated him less like a threat and more like a friend. However, Sano has never felt this way toward Naka even though they are long-term friends, and does Kylo treat everyone this way? He has pleased his other wielders... Maybe this is just how he is, and Sano took the flirtatious remarks too seriously.
Kylo splashed water in Sano's face making the other shudder at the sudden contact of coldness mixed with warmth, "What was that for?" Sano commented, only to gain another chuckle from the other, "You were overthinking. I can tell by the face you were making at me. Relax a bit."
Sano splashed Kylo back, catching him by surprise, "Mind your own business," Sano commented before smiling at him. Kylo noticed the smile and smirked, taking the action as a declaration of war, and the two began splashing at each other. Laughter filled the air, water was flying everywhere, and animals ran away from the edge, afraid of being pulled into their little battle.
The war ended smoothly with no casualties and no winners or losers. They both floated on their back, breathing heavily, catching their breath from all the swimming and splashing. They both took off their clothes and allowed them to dry while returning to floating in the middle of the lake, bodies submerged under the water. Kylo spoke softly, breaking the silence between them, "I remember when humans used to wage wars over this water."
"They started a war because of water?" Sano asked, intrigued.
Kylo nodded, "Yup. The water is the purest and is said to keep you young and healthy when you drink it. It doesn't stop you from dying or growing old but makes you stay looking young and feel young too."
"Like the fountain of youth?" Sano asked, in disbelief, "Is it true? Is that why you are so old but look so young?"
Kylo shrugged, slightly offended by being called old, "Maybe. I've always considered it just water, but when I think back to the water in human territory. It is much different."
"The water where I'm from is nothing like this," Sano spoke, allowing the beautiful clear liquid to slip through his fingers as he lifted his hand above the water, "I guess I'll find out in the future. I've already swallowed a bunch of it from the splashing and almost drowning when you pulled me in."
"I think you're a bit dramatic," Kylo responded with a chuckle.
