(Ray's POV)
"You need to kill 100 G-monsters to move to the second floor," the screen declared.
Now even the screen was telling me what to do. Have I trapped myself in a shithole? The Tower of Infinity is one of the hardest parts of The Third Calamity novel. If I remember correctly, it only got cleared in 2032, exactly ten years after the plot of the novel started.
Numerous people died trying to clear this place. But this place has its advantages as well, like this screen in front of me. This screen is different from the status screen that every awakened person has.
This blue screen floating in front of me is the will of the tower that oversees everything in it. The tower also has a guardian whose job is to guide the people in the tower.
And this blue screen has a map of each floor, which might come in handy. The main job of this screen is to guide the players and monitor them.
The guardian can keep an eye on all the players through these screens. This is why it was said in the novel that nothing is hidden from the guardian.
The only job of the guardian is to observe and guide people in the tower. He isn't able to interfere with the things that are happening in the tower.
In reality, the Tower of Infinity isn't totally filled with monsters. On the higher floors of the tower, people reside.
In the novel, the author mentioned that the people living in the tower are not from Earth. According to the novel, their planet, which was called Zeldia, got destroyed by the demons around a thousand years ago.
At that time, all of the remaining people of Zeldia came together and prayed to the God of Creation, Elohim, to protect them.
Elohim listened to their prayers and gave them residence in his new creation, the Tower of Infinity. Since then, the people of Zeldia became residents of the Tower of Infinity.
The Tower of Infinity doesn't stay in one place. It has been wandering around in the cosmos for the past thousand years, visiting one planet after another. But the funniest part is that the people inside the tower didn't even know that they were traveling around the cosmos until the guardian of the tower announced the truth to the people of Zeldia 500 years after they had entered the tower.
There is a reason why this tower is called the Tower of Infinity. The reason is that the area inside the tower is nearly infinite. In reality, I can reach the second floor of the tower without even completing the quest, but the distance between the first floor and the second floor of the tower is around the same as the distance the moon has from Earth.
So, that's why it's better to complete the quest rather than try something as dumb as walking from Earth to the moon.
The most important thing that I need to remember is that I need to be careful here. Monsters aren't the only problem here. This place is full of poisonous plants and fruits. Even finding water will be difficult.
No one lives on the first 25 floors of the tower. The main reason for it is the war between the five kingdoms of the Tower. The people of the Tower of Infinity have divided themselves into five kingdoms. Each one of these kingdoms is strong enough to rival two SS rank heroes as they have all been existing for more than 700 years when the people of Zeldia just started their life in the Tower of Infinity.
During this time, these kingdoms came into power and have been in power since then.
When Elohim opened the gates of the tower to let the people of Zeldia enter the tower, many dangerous creatures entered the tower as well and took over the higher floors.
These kingdoms united the people and fought against these monsters, and till now, they have been able to conquer until the 70th floor.
Since there is the least amount of threat on the first 25 floors, all five kingdoms have been fighting with each other to occupy this piece of land. But they haven't been able to reach any conclusion because of their greediness.
This is why the first 25 floors have been left alone for the time being. It's a good thing for me since I don't need to interact with the people of the tower for the time being.
"Huff, my brain will explode because of this shitty novel," I said while sighing and started thinking about how to move ahead from this point onwards.
After thinking for a good amount of time, Ray finally got up and started walking towards the direction of the sun. According to Ray, it was around midday, which meant he had a few hours on his hands to find a suitable place to spend the night.
Other than this, he also needed to find some food for tomorrow, as he only had enough food to last him a day.
After walking for a few miles in the southwest direction, Ray came across some ravines.
Revines are G-rank monsters that have evolved from deer. They have long horns and two tails with brownish skin all over. They were the best food that Ray could hope to get in this place.
"Let's get some food, shall we," Ray said and dashed towards the ravines. The revines were startled and started to run as soon as they saw Ray, as if they were aware that he was stronger than them.
But they weren't able to run very far as a wave of ice started to form on their body from Ray's hand, and they got trapped in a huge block of ice in just a second. The block of ice was as big as a multi-story building.
"Maybe I overdid it, but either way, I'll name this attack Ice Prison from now on," Ray said and started to walk towards the frozen revines.
But before he could reach them, a horde of wolf-like monsters blocked Ray's path.
"Things really don't get easy for me." I said while sighing.
