Lucas kept looking at the changes that happened to the original screen.

'The stone part and mana core one are changed too! But where is the stone?'

Lucas looked back and saw some toward the 200kg something stone boulder, the small rocks that were around it were moved near the camp to have some support.

'The texts are taking it as the stone needed for the upgrade, which means the stone part is easy. Now only the planks, plant fiber, and mana are cores left....' Lucas thought.

"Are you okay Lucas, you have been standing there for a minute now..." Sarah said from behind. Lucas looked at them all and sighed, they didn't know what the groups had just achieved.

He moved to the back and with a big grin, he continued, "Well, my skill just showed that the defenses will be taken as the shelter's territory and just like the shelter, it can be upgraded by keeping resources in the shelter's territory."

Aside from Sarah and John, the others looked confused and found it hard to understand but the change in John's expression made them curious to ask him later.

"What are the requirements this time?" John asked with interest.

Lucas told them all to first enter the shelter, they all sat down near the walls and listened to him intently. After understanding, everyone was happy to have such a feature in the shelter as it meant that from now on, they had to just make the basic structure of something and it would upgrade with just the resources later.

Lucas couldn't understand why it didn't happen to the campfire but overlooked it for now. It was a joyous occasion as their hard labor had just paid off by a double fold.

While John took the watch in the night, Lucas and the others slept like a log. It had been a hectic day. After a few hours, John woke Lucas up for him to take watch this time.

It had already been decided, Lucas and John were going to change their shifts for the night not trusting John's sons for the job thinking they would also sleep making their survival a bit difficult.

CRACK CRACK

The sound of crackling resounded everywhere as if someone had broken some instant noodles. Lucas who was half asleep got up in an instant, those dried leaves were the defense mechanism that they had implemented at the entrance of the defense.

"Wake up! Everyone!" Lucas exclaimed in a voice that was not loud or too low. He grabbed the spear that he had been using since the very start. The only change was the green poison that was smothered on the tip.

Everyone had a spear and it was lubricated with the poison, John was the first one to wake from the commotion, then Sarah, and then the others.

They all woke up in about a minute and Lucas just went near one of the walls of the shelter where the entrance connected and tried to peek out to look for any enemy.

Alas, it was too dark, aside from the thin spears acting as defense, Lucas couldn't tell if the enemy was hit by anything as it entered.

'After all that hard work, I can't believe something entered the defenses. Fuck...' He thought.

Lucas's gaze went toward John who was at the other side, their eyes met and after a brief nod, Lucas's gaze shifted to Sarah who was coincidentally looking at him.

"We need fire.." Lucas muttered slowly making Sarah nod in understanding. Lucas was waiting for her to pull on the fire when she closed her eyes, her left hand moved upward and a small ball of fire materialized and started hovering over it.

'Oh no, she can't hold it for long...' Lucas realized late that Sarah couldn't hold it for a long time. He was going to say something again yet Sarah brought the blunt side of her spear and lit it up with the fire.

It only took around ten seconds for her to light the other side of the spear. The shelter had already lit up with her fireball and everybody had to adjust to the flashing light.

"There is dead silence outside..." John spoke while looking out the entrance. Lucas took a few deep breaths to calm himself down. He couldn't be reckless as there were too many people at stake this time around. With Ella, Barney, and Sean who didn't have much of an ability to fight, he had to be careful.

'Fuck it' Lucas thought and went outside with quick steps. The spear that had now become a fire staff blazed aggressively lighting the outside by a little.

Lucas moved it in all directions, at this point, John was also outside with him holding the end of the spear on the fire to help with the lighting problem too.

They both looked everywhere yet couldn't find anything, Lucas's eyes fell on the leaves they left before going to sleep. They were placed in a very symmetric manner but now, they were crumbled on only one side as if something set afoot inside yet didn't go any further cause of the sound.

"I think we are safe, whatever came here didn't get inside the territory," John said while patting Lucas's shoulder.

The area may have been illuminated with the two torches they were holding yet it didn't go much further.

The forest around them was filled with darkness and they didn't know what was there to haunt their minds forever...
