Till now, everything had gone a little too perfect. From the grazing area to its left, Lucas had decided to pounce at the Kobold anytime but seeing it playing around had made it possible for them to travel a bit further to avoid any more trouble.
Lucas had taken the Kobold's whole attention while John looked at them from aback. For a second, a smile formed on his face only to be replaced by that of hurry the next.
'I can't believe things went successful... just like Lucas planned.'
"Haah! Come on!!" Lucas shouted through his lungs to give John some more time.
'I can take a hit or two...right?' He asked himself in his thoughts.
The tail whip had hurt Lucas on both sides... the gut and the back yet he was still okay. He rubbed his back on the tree to find any bruises that could potentially hurt from contact but so far, there weren't any as if he was never thrown at the tree.
The Kobold gave some snarls and screechy noises that sounded to have come directly from the throat. It crouched its body a little with the sharp claws digging themselves into the ground.
Lucas made a single look at the back where John was and tried his best to not make any expression changes.
"So now begins the time game huh... You know we can kill you right?" Lucas spoke aloud while looking at the Kobold which tilted its head with a frown as if confused as to what Lucas was saying.
Lucas knew that the Kobold couldn't understand it and that didn't matter. All he needed was a bit of time.
Lucas kept speaking while looking at the Kobold and didn't move even a bit, his stance was still the same but the Kobold seemed to just stand there trying to understand what Lucas was trying to say.
The Kobold looked a little surprised by what Lucas was doing and couldn't help but stop and listen. The sounds Lucas was making weren't any growls or shouts. The way Lucas was speaking made the Kobold wonder why it sounded a bit intelligent.
The Kobold came out of its daze in only 10 seconds and started growling at Lucas with vigilance again. He happened to get his attention back due to a change in Lucas.
From the normal serious face with the eyes a bit cold. One thing had changed, an ear-to-ear grin was on Lucas's face and his eyes looked a bit crazy.
If someone had looked at this expression in the human civilization on Earth, they would have backed away from the guy by various steps as he looked a bit out of his mind right now.
"Haha... so long, sucker..." Lucas spoke but the Kobold was done with all his shenanigans. The Kobold was going to pounce again but a shiver went down his spine and it jerked a little.
Its eyes darted toward the back but his senses were a bit late.
SCHWING!
A loud whistle-like sound came from the back and when the Kobold's eyes came in contact with it, the Kobold knew it was too late to move.
PUCHI!
A spear of about 2 meter length was plunged from the Kobold's back and tore its way out its chest. The Kobold looked at its chest with eyes filled with surprise.
But they changed to that of despair when the Kobold saw the pointy end of the spear stuck in its chest. The spear was covered in its blood and it looked back again only to see John, the burly guy, a few meters away from him. The same place where the Kobold left the guy at the start.
"Hahahah... you were sooo unlucky..." The Kobold jerked its face back to the front when it heard the human in front of it make the strange voices again. The Kobold couldn't understand but the human still continued, "If it was me, I couldn't have stabbed you but that guy is special~"
The grin on Lucas's face didn't go anywhere, it only went a little wide from the happiness.
If John was in his right mind, he would have scolded Lucas to change his expression but he was too flabbergasted with what he did.
When Lucas took command and made the Kobold have all its attention toward him. John had started executing his plan. All this while, he was waiting for the right moment with the spear in his hand ready to be launched at the Kobold like a Javelin.
From this point, it was obvious, John was going to use his wind manipulation skill to make the spear faster. He was first going to aim it at the head for an instant kill but he came back to his senses. He had missed before because of this plan at the hunt of the deer like creature and he had already learned from it.
So, in the end, he shot the spear right at the Kobold's chest in order to prevent any mistake to repeat itself again. But a part of him froze when the kobold jerked and moved his face at the back before he could even throw the spear.
At this point, it was do or die, so he just shot with all his strength while increasing the wind flow around the spear.
And luckily, it hit the Kobold before it could get away and dodge just like the time when Lucas attacked it.
-
The Kobold kept looking at the spearhead coming out of his chest with eyes wide. It couldn't believe what had happened to it and soon, the blood-filled veins in its eyes increased.
Lucas had completely forgotten to guard himself but pulled his spear up again when he saw the Kobold move its hand up.
A few seconds passed and its hand reached the spearhead. Lucas could tell that it was gritting its teeth.
URGHHH!
An inward low scream came from the Kobold when he started pulling the spear out from his chest.
"What the fuck?!" Lucas couldn't tell how the Kobold was even standing right now.
"What happened, Lucas?" John asked from the back, he did not have a view of what the Kobold was doing around its chest.
"He's pulling the spear out its chest!"
