Watching her leave, felt like he was loosing her again, but he could not loose what he never really had.
She belongs to someone else, he could not deny it, though he wish he could keep her for himself, and protect her better.
She left him feeling different in a good way of course, she was so happy someone was willing to fight for her, and let her relax, she wanted to jump and dance, but she knew better, that was the last thing she would be getting, with Dave so angry with her.
She unlocked her house door and stepped in but notice the house was unusually dark, she became scared, she wanted to scream but thought it would be unnecessary to get neighbours knocking on her door at an ungodly hour for no reason at all. After all there was really no major threat to her at the moment.
She tried the switch yet nothing happened, no illumination of any sort. Now that was weird, she was freaking out so she reached out for her phone in her bag only to feel a swift movement which quickly made her move immediately to the opposite direction, and in the next second the light was on and she was shocked at who was in her house.
The man looked nothing like the man she had married, he looked so different and so angry, holding a knife and scaring the living day light out of her, she wanted to run out, but she remembered he locked the door immediately after switching on the light, she decided to act normal inorder not to anger him, and cause her own death because of her stupidity.
Dave moved elegantly and sat in the couch, but with the house now illuminated, one could see that he was drunk, and had been smoking his heart out plus he had been crying like someone who had lost all hope and was giving up.
Her present predicament must have destroyed him, he used to be a very happy and jovial person, but look what mystery had done to him, for once she stopped thinking about herself and just stared at him with pity, she wished she had answers to the pressing questions in his heart, she wanted badly to ease his pain and tell him it would be ok, but she couldn't, she couldn't go close, she sat calmly on the chair opposite him with her hands folded like someone about to get scolded.
"Where are you coming from? He asked, not meeting her eyes, he was looking down, like the answers to his questions are there.
She was about to lie but her instinct told her not to even try, she always trusted her instinct so she didn't want to try to make the wrong move or lie to a broken man, and get killed in the end. Even though her life sucks at the moment, she wasn't ready to die now and allow the mystery die with her, she was willing to stay alive and have this baby, she was willing to go all the way to find out who was bold enough to drug her and get her pregnant, she was willing to see if she was about to give birth to Jesus again. Maybe her pregnancy sure had something to do with the second coming of Jesus Christ, but she was no saint and surely no virgin why would God want his son to come back again through her and why had the Angels not visit her to preinform her about the event to be unfolded? how come none had also visited Dave to let him know to treat her better and accept that they were about to parent a saviour. But she knew better, she only knew the word of God but wasn't a strong follower.
"I went to find answers". She told him, she didn't lie, she also didn't go direct to telling him where she was coming from, but she could sense, that he was already aware, of her movement.
She was happy she didn't lie to him, she just didn't tell him where she was coming from or who she had been out with.
"Oh, so did you get answers from him? He asked, confirming, that he knows where she was coming from.
She bite her lips, not wanting to say the wrong thing.
She was sure she heard right, Dave sure knew she had been out with Goodluck, he was probably trailing her or stalking her, but this was no time to get angry about been followed or stalked, she knew it would come to that, he couldn't trust her anymore, who would trust a married woman pregnant with another man's child.
" He didn't do it". She told him, she watch as he stared at her, it felt like she was defending her love in his presence.
She tried to say it in a different way, but no words came out of her mouth, she opened and closed it back at the same time.
But if she have not done anything for Goodluck before, if she was not able to stand for him back then, now was the time to do one thing for him, she needed the world, to know, that he is a noble man, and would never hurt her in anyway.
Even if he did hurt her, she deserves it, after all, she and her brother have hurt him. They were his only family, yet, they abandoned him to the world.
Dave raised the silver knife up, showing it off to him, he walked towards her and placed it on her kneck, before asking her the same question, he has been asking forĀ more than three months now.
"Amanda, who is the father of the bastard you are carrying? She was shaken, she tried to reply, but she was drowning in fear, she didn't want to make the wrong move by saying the wrong thing.
It is Goodluck right? He asked, but that seem to anger her, she shrugged herself off, and said.
"He didn't do it".
