When they got back to the hospital, they notice Mr Jones Brown quarrelling with his wife.
"You are being a nuisance, with what you are doing with that girl, you don't have to shout or make a show everywhere you go". He sounded so angry, that his wife was fuming with anger and replying him with the same anger.
"Don't come and act like a saint here, did you not see that she is pregnant for another man, while she is still married to your son? She retorted, and Amanda hearing what they were quarelling about, could tell, that her troubles have only begun, because, there was no way, she would be free from them.
One could tell that they were angry with eachother but when they noticed they had company, they stopped and sat quietly but one could see how angry they looked. Mrs Brown didn't want to let it slide, so she hissed and said.
"Where you are supposed to talk, you will not talk, it is where you are not supposed to talk that you will be talking". Mr Jones Brown heard her, and adjusted, he didn't want to sit close to her.
He was probably avoiding reacting in an abnormal way, infront of people.
Mrs Brown glared at Amanda and her people and could kill them with her eyes, if only looks could kill.
Her stare stayed longer on Maxwell, as she could not help but think about his earlier statement towards her.
Few minutes later a nurse came out and asked.
"who is Amanda?
Every one looked at Amanda as if it was the first time they heard the name, she was also shocked that the nurse was asking about her so she hesitated before answering. Her brother tapped her, to bring her back to reality, before she opened her mouth and spoke up calmly.
"I am"
It sounded almost like a whisper but the curious nurse, who had been waiting for someone, to reply her for a while raised her brow, and wondered why she didn't speak up immediately she asked, did she forget her name?
" Ok Mr Dave Brown is out of Danger and had just woken up from resting, and he has been calling your name so please come with me"
Everyone was take aback, and no one was ready to say anything, immediately Amanda made a move to follow the nurse, Mrs Brown blocked her way.
"Nurse, you cannot take this witch to see my son, she tried to kill him, and now you want to take her to him, do you want him to die? She asked, still having her hands on her waist, as if ready to fight.
"I am sorry ma, but your son is demanding to see her, please I will advise to allow him see her, so that he could relax his muscles because, he was refusing to take any other dose unless he sees her. Also, we will keep an eye on her, incase she tries to kill him there". The nurse added, and Amanda looked at her shocked, wondering why she would even believe her mother inlaw.
She wanted to tell the nurse, that she would never kill anyone, not even an animal, let alone her husband, a man she had lived with, for years.
With the anger of what her mother inlaw said, and what the nurse said, Amanda wanted to get even.
Without waiting for another second, Amanda pushed her mother inlaw aside, and even the nurse and rushed in, this was a question of life and death and they were busy fighting.
When she entered, the sight she was made to behold, was unbearable, he was bandaged around his chest and arms, he looked terrible but still managed to smile at her, she went close to sit with him.
I am sorry Dave, I really am, this is all my fault, if I hadn't denied you your right, this should never have happened, we would never have come to this place, things wouldn't have ended up this bad. I am sorry I am so sorry "
She said as she continued to sob.
"It's ok, I wanted to see you, to say I am sorry for causing you more problems, even though the child is not mine I should have acted differently, I don't know if you are telling the truth or you are telling lies, but I want us to be happy going our different ways. I am willing to support you or habour you till the baby is born, after that, we go our separate ways and I hope we never cross paths again".
That wasn't what she was expecting to hear, she was glad he didn't say those words infront of his parents, and she could see in his eyes that he genuinely care for her, she nodded her head and kissed his forehead before heading toward the exit, but stopped.
"I am sorry once again, and if I could change what happened I would, but I can't and I am sorry for that".
But can I atleast stay till you are discharged? She asked, hoping she would be able to spend some time with him, and maybe they could have sometime to talk and plan, the way they used to, but his reply broke her heart into thousand pieces.
"No Amanda, go home, I will meet you at home. Don't stress the baby further, you need rest, and you know how much you hate hospitals, so just go home, I will meet you there". He was trying to sound like he was not bothered or hurt, but his voice was not in support of such a pretense.
Her heart was shattered now, as she stared at him for the last time, she knew she could not try and put up a brave front anymore.
She couldn't take it anymore, she cried loudly and opened the door to find her supposed family, staring at her disdainfully, she stared at her mother inlaw angrilly, she somehow blamed her for the tears on her eyes, she could even transfer her agression to her, if she dares try to offend her, but then she saw her brother, and she walked towards him and hugged him.
"Please take me home"
