Chapter 24 - Sharing The Secret (2)

"Wait a sec, you believe me?"

"Why shouldn't I?" Philip tilted his head in confusion. If it had been someone else then he would have remained skeptical but this was Jeffrey, he had no reason to lie.

Jeffrey observed his friend for a little while before shaking his head. "You should not believe stuff so easily"

"Wow you really are changing, the Jeffrey I know wouldn't give me such advice, there is always an indirect insult" Philip chuckled when Jeffrey sent him a glare.

"Since you have no idea what this is, I've pretty much reached a dead end" Jeffrey could only sigh.

"Forget that, I have a serious question..." seeing that he had gained Jeffrey's attention, Philip continued. "Can someone else enter the book beside you"

"That is your serious question?"

"Just answer it!" Philip said, almost pleading.

"I don't know, I still don't know how the ability work"

Philip let out a depressed sigh and wore a sulking expression, but when he saw that Jeffrey had no plans to console him, he fixed his expression while giving out an awkward cough. "Why don't try it then?"

"Absolutely not!!"

Philip was a bit surprised by Jeffrey's sudden shout. "Why?"

"It's unsafe" Jeffrey frowned he thought Philip already understood.

"Since when do you care if something's unsafe? And besides, don't you think you'll learn more about the ability by using it? and besides, if I can go with you, what could possibly go wrong?"

"Everything could go wrong, the last time, I was stuck until the comic ended" Jeffrey explained, trying to knock some sense into the head of his friend.

"Stop being such a pussy and let's try"

After his consistent pleading, Jeffrey finally gave in and took out his phone to pick up a book.

"Let me do the honors" without waiting for Jeffrey's opinion he took the phone from his hands and carelessly selected a book.

Honestly, Philip was too excited to care about which book they entered, he would even make do with a romance novel as long as he gets to see the cool ability of Jeffrey's.

"I've chosen one, now go kablewi on this thing"

Jeffrey could only roll his eyes and take back the phone. "That's not how it works and I'm not making the same mistake twice"

Last time because of his mood he had ignored the details of the book and just went ahead but this time he was going to check the synopsis and tags and possible things about the author.

Jeffrey's attention was first captured by the book cover which had four males standing in different poses but what Jeffrey found fascinating was their expressions, you could almost tell their character by just looking at them.

Then the title of the book was written in bold and slant font, having swaying edges, giving an illusion that the letters were breaking off.

"Pure Assassin by Youngest Monk" he muttered, looking at the author's name strangely. 'There's nothing wrong in using a real name, but this author has to be somebody because this cover should be worth more than 200 bucks

Then his gaze went down a bit and saw that the book had more than 3M views which did not surprise him much and then he checked out the synopsis.

'Who said a girl can't be a great spy? They are about to be disappointed.

Left by their parents at such a young age? Tory and Vic, we're forced to live with their retired uncle who was a training maniac. While Vic saw it as torture, Tory gladly embraced it especially after finding out that their uncle was a spy.

But alas life wasn't a sea of roses and dreams do not always come through. After their uncle died, they were left to fend for themselves.

Read as the 18-year-old Tory with her sister leaves for the city and due to fortune or misfortune joins a dark operation Masked'

"Not bad" Jeffrey nodded after checking out the synopsis and tags.

"So...do the magic already"

Jeffrey eyed his impatient friend before clicking on read. This time he decided not to read the book, he first held Philp's hand before closing his eyes and concentrating. He had no idea if what he was doing will work or not but he knew Philip was right. Only by using the ability could he get a hang of it.

Few seconds later, Jeffrey opened his eyes to a strange scene and realized he pulled it off, the first he did was, look around and saw Philip standing beside him with his mouth agape.

"Holy shit, how could you have hidden this from me before?"

Jeffrey stared at him with a dead gaze before moving his gaze away. 'I wonder if this ability is controlled based on my thoughts, I try it out later

After putting that thought at the back of his head, he focused on the scene in front of him.

They looked to be in a gym but there was no one there. The scene swiftly changes to a young boy that looked 18 or 19, he was holding a bag full of fruit and vegetable tables as he made his way down the road.

Jeffrey and Philip turned to each other and the latter shrugged. They had no idea who the new guy was, wasn't the protagonist supposed to be a girl, still they kept their questions for later and resumed following the boy.

He then entered the street before halting five minutes later in front of a small house. With a step, he knocked on the door, then Jeffrey and Philip heard a click before the door opened and a head popped out the side of the door.

"Brother?" the head that belonged to a girl said before opening the door wide. She looked exactly like the boy standing in front of the door. The only difference was his long hair and breasts at the front.

Philip and Jeffrey were not even given time to sort out their confusion before the boy walked in and they followed behind him.
