Chapter 26 - Pure Assassin (2)

While Jeffery and Philip were waiting for Tory to start, three young men suddenly walked out of the door from the side.

"This better be good captain, I almost finished my course this time," the youngest among them said. He had a towel around his neck and his clothes made it obvious that he was coming from training. He had long silver hair but not too long and green eyes with thick eyebrows and his face scaled towards gorgeous instead of handsome or cute.

His looks were a bit of a contrast to Tory who had short black hair, and big blue eyes with a tiny mouth and nose. She could never be considered as handsome, she was full-blown cute but in her disguise, she looked like a young innocent boy.

"It has always been an almost for the past two weeks," the tallest and most elderly said. Jeffrey guessed he was the captain since the aura around him didn't mix with the rest. He had brown hair and eyes, his skin was a bit tanned and his muscles were bulging on his arms.

"But look on the bright side captain, he never gives up and keeps trying" the third one shrugged. He also had dark hair like Tory but his eyes were grey and although he wasn't as cute as Tory, gorgeous as the first guy, or handsome like his captain, his made him different and he gave off the feeling of a next-door neighbor although not one like May.

While Jeffrey was observing the newcomers, Philip was having a hard time controlling his breath after seeing the obstacle course that appeared from below. He wasn't hyperventilating because he was scared but because he was too excited to control himself.

'This is so freaking cool, if she nails this, I'm raising my bars higher for a future girlfriend'

Jeffrey had also noticed the emergence of the obstacle course which occupied half of the hall.

While checking out the course, he also did not fail to see the sudden change of expression of the newcomers.

"Captain I thought you said it was a new guy?" the silver-haired guy whispered.

"It is a new guy," the captain said in a somewhat unsure tone. Even he was surprised by the course which was directly set to hell mode and then he turned and saw Agent Blake standing at the side with an indifferent expression.

'It is on purpose, who is this new guy?' his eyes then scanned for Tort who was standing in front of the obstacle course waiting for the countdown to the end.

Tory stood there with a calm expression, not because she was overconfident and neither had she gone through a course like this but because the one thing her uncles always taught her was to always remain calm.

Once the countdown hit zero, Tory took a deep breath, though she wasn't given any instruction, it would be foolish to waste time but that didn't mean she was going to jump in blindly either so with a cool head, she stepped on the first platform and it started elevating the second her feet touched it.

"No second chance" Tory muttered under her breath before gazing at the first hurdle which was crossing the elevating platforms.

They were all moving at the same time with only a little height difference. She had to find the perfect timing and the minutes she started there was no stopping until she reached the second obstacle.

The next second, Tory jumped, but she had already formed a rough map on her head so although the platforms were scattered, she knew exactly which ones she needed to leap on to keep moving forward.

The first few seconds into the course were easy but Tory noticed that the squared platforms in front of her had started crumbling from the side, reducing their width bit by bit, she needed to pick up her pace or she wouldn't make it to the next hurdle.

Tory increased her pace but the platforms kept crumbling at an even faster speed and when she reached the last platform she was forced to land on the tip of her toes.

Philip was clapping away while Jeffrey was observing the next hurdle from a distance.

'Unless the author uses a pretty insane I don't see any way she's making it past that hurdle

Not just him, even the others felt the same though it might not have shown in their expressions.

Though Tory remained calm, at the first sight of what she was about to face, her heart leaped but not for joy and she narrowed her eyes.

There were poles at every corner separated by a considerable distance but what worried Tory was the occasional appearance of large spiky boulders falling from up.

They were random with no pattern whatsoever. Then there were the toothed rings she had to go through every once in a while and as if that wasn't enough moving blades with spikes were flying around threatening to end her.

'I just have to give my best' Tory thought before she jumped on a pole. The next pole was a bit far and there was no way she would stick the landing without momentum.

So she squatted and checked if a blade coming and when she was sure she was in the clear, she lept up only to land with one hand on the pole.

"What is she doing?" Philip asked a bit panicked but Jeffrey ignored him, he too was curious.

Tory then used her other arm to hold the pole at the side and when she got into a flag position she started swinging, building momentum for the next leap.

"I can't watch," Philip said covering his face with his hands only to slightly open his fingers.

Tory continue leaping from pole to, avoiding the holders and sometimes even daring enough to jump on the flying blades and avoid some poles but just when things were starting to look good, a boulder dropped close to her head, and before she could even think of dodging, two blades where flying towards her from both sides.

The only way now was down but before her mind could weave up a proper plan the boulder was already at her head but before it could hit her head

*BEEP!!!*

Everything stopped and the hall returned to its normal state after a few seconds and Tory was saved from what would have been fatal.
