[Conan POV]
It has been about two months since I talked to Taryn, and it has been torture, like I think I should try the whole dating thing.
She comes once in a while to the house to take care of Zoey, but I have been too busy helping Kaleah and Cyan set up their art store.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, I am helping your wife…..."
"Stop lying Conan."
I sigh, caught in a lie with Clayton Beckett, and possibly the reader, fine I wasn't busy when she came, I just wasn't in the house 'accidentally'.
"Just talk to her and stop running away, ugh…. Being in a relationship is not that bad you know." Clayton the love fool says making me roll my eyes.
"I am leaving, you are no help." I stand up to leave.
"Just talk to her already, you are being insufferable," he yells and I cover my ears walking out.
I know this is not the best decision, being in a dry spell and all because I can't admit my feelings, but it is working for me.
I decided to go out with my friends tonight, we had chosen to have a dinner type of thing.
It was a lowkey dinner gathering with just the closest people. It was all going well until I heard a familiar laugh.
Taryn Duff, wearing a beautiful knee length satin dress. It was red, very red, and her red heel looked beautiful.
Her face touched up with subtle make-up, she keeps laughing at what her companion is saying, quite annoying, for her to laugh again.
"What got you distracted Conan?" my friend asked, I just shrug it off as nothing, let just ignore Taryn and her date.
Yep, she is on a date, the guy is dressed in some T-shirt, jeans and sneakers, in a whole fancy restaurant.
Well as long as it is not stupid Mike, she seems to like this guy, I tell myself, but the dominant sharp pain in my heart sure makes me feel like I am lying.
I cannot seem to concentrate, it is not how beautiful she looks, it is how she seems to laugh at every joke this guy makes, like no one is that funny.
I stare for a while until she stands up to go the bathroom, she looks my way and gasps, I cannot help but smirk.
I wait until she disappears, to stand and follow her, my friends just chuckle at my actions.
She comes out of the bathroom and rolls her eyes as she sees me. "What do you want Conan?" she grumbles.
"Just wanted to say hi," I say, she walks to me, we are standing at a place just close to the kitchen enough to see her table clearly.
"A date huh?" I teased, trying my best to sound happy for her.
"Yeah, so father found out Mike and his grandmother were just greedy for power so he stopped trying to get me to marry him," she says, "bye the way he says he is sorry for not believing you, I would have told you sooner if you weren't ignoring me."
"Oh…. Sorry about that, I was too…... who am I kidding I was ignoring you," I admit, "so how is the date?"
"Good, he is very humorous and wise," I roll my eyes at this ridiculousness.
"He can't be that funny, like you are laughing like he is the funniest man alive," my jealousy and animosity is quite clear.
"Stop being jealous Conan," she grumbled.
"Want to go on a date with me? I can prove I am funnier," I say sound very salty; she just rolls her eyes.
"What? No, Shane is a proper guy, I like him a lot,"
"More than you like me?"
She angrily glares at me, "I might like you, but I am not that desperate to be in a fruitless relationship with you."
"Fruitless what do you mean fruitless? I like you too, you know, it might have took watching you laugh at that guy's joke to admit but I do."
She looks really shocked, she is still frozen by my confession, "you like me?"
"Of course, I do, why wouldn't I? We can just go on dates once or twice, see how it goes," I beg with desperation.
"Well, I don't think it is a good idea, I am willing to give Shane a chance, it is a bit too late right now," she says, "my father approved of him too."
I look at her table to this Shane guy, "he is not all that," I say, but I see him look around before putting some white powder in her drink, both she and her see this.
I look back at her with a smirk, "seems Shane got eliminated, what do you say now, want to go on a date with me?" I say smugly, she is fuming in rage, I am too, but I am benefiting from his creepiness.
"Ugh… what a horrible taste in men I have," she grumbles.
"Maybe it your father with a bad taste in men, he is the one who has been choosing these fools for you," I say, "how about you go on a date with a guy of your choice for once."
"And you assume that would, be you?" she says with a condescending look.
"I hope it is me," she faces palms again.
She looks at me for a while and I give her a pitiful look, she will feel sorry for me and humor my request.
"Fine I will go on a date with you." and she did.
I smile smugly, I call the manager of the restaurant to get us a table just in front of poor old Shane, making her scold me.
"Are you insane, I didn't mean now," she grumbled.
"So, you still want to go on a date with the fool who wanted to drug you?"
"But isn't this a bit too..."
"A sweet revenge baby, come on let go to the table," I say taking her hand. She drags her feet anxiously but she still follows.
They were able to move her stuff to the other table, Shane tried to restrain the waiter who moved her stuff but I had more power than he did.
I take her to the table; I look back at Shane who is fuming with a smug.
"This so evil Conan," she whispers, "if he tries to retaliate, he better hit you and not me."
"Don't worry he wouldn't even try, I had someone give him a good warning," I whisper.
It took a bit for her to get comfortable with the whole thing, until she was okay enough to laugh at my jokes loudly, Shane stayed a while until he paid and angrily stomped off.
We had a nice time until the call, I ignored the first ring hoping he would call later but when Clayton calls you twice it is something important.
"Wow, can I have a date in peace?"
"Come home now," he shouts angrily, but sighs after, "come home if you can I need your help."
"What is going on Clay?" I asked confused, he had never sounded that frantic since he was just a kid and his parents died.
"Leah and Zoey are missing; we need all hands on deck to look for them."
