When the world becomes a new brilliant white page, as if nine clouds had kissed the earth, the fog only awaits the sun to unveil the scene upon its own perfect timing. The trees were veiled in the thickest of mists, their trunks sombre brown with sable cracks that gnarl the bark. As far as the eye could travel, to the edge of the woodland and scanty hilly vegetation of Lonavala, they looked like silhouettes against a blanket of white.
Subh and June had got dressed as they finally decided to get down from the car.
The mist was impenetrable, but at a near distance, a tiny yellow light flickered.
"Do you see that?" Subh rubbed his palms filling the sudden chill in the hilly air.
June nodded her head and tugged at his arms.
"Let's go!"
Their teeth clattered as they took a sip of the freshly brewed coffee from the single tea stall at the hilltop. June snuggled inside his strong arms as he wrapped his hands around her, sipping the coffee at the same time.
"Wanna have some roasted cobs?" He asked, pointing at the corn on cobs that were kept in the stall.
"Bhaiya... Two of these." He muttered, shivering in the cold, as he pulled out his purse to pay the man.
"Hey June, your phone is chiming for quite sometime now, wanna take a look?"
He pulled out her smartphone from his jeans pocket as he handed it to her.
"I don't wanna see... I asked you to keep it...No pockets here." She showed the fake pockets in her shorts and grinned.
Subh shrugged and held the phone infront, as his eyes narrowed for a moment.
"June, I think you should see this."
His voice turned grave as he forced the phone in her hand.
Reluctantly, she unlocked the screen as a series of notifications popped in. She opened her WhatsApp and saw quite a few messages from Rohit.
"What the hell!" She murmured, flipping through the snuggly pictures that he had sent to her with some other girl.
This is what we never had!
Can't tell you how happy I am.
"Moron!" June murmured letting out a deep sigh.
