Chapter 3 - Chapter3

#Chapter3

---Wrong car-03

/"You almost killed us, you idiot./" He yelled at Nyx who still had to calm herself down. This near-death experience had barely registered in her head. Her thoughts were focused on other things. In more important things. For example, what was he doing here?

Nyx could vaguely feel that she was close to losing her shit. Even breathing seemed to become a difficult task. She had to force herself to calm down her fast-beating heart and take a few deep breaths, before things got out of control.

Her eyes finally left the reflection of the man in the mirror and looked ahead. She had to get out of here. As soon as possible.

Oh, sweet mother of baby Tarzan, why the fuck is this happening? Why now? Why him?

Nyx couldn’t help but look at the man once again. Her amber eyes focused on his face, on his eyes, his nose, his lips… The man had dark skin and short, curly black hair. His full lips were curved down in a frown and his eyes… his eyes that were pitch-black, but Nyx knew that they were actually brown in the sun… those eyes were angrily staring at her as though he wanted to murder her.

He hasn’t changed much… still handsome, Nyx thought.

And angry...

And with a killer glare on his face...

Oh, okay, Nyx took her eyes off his face.

Her face was already whiter than a polar bear as her blood froze in her veins. She had to dig her nails in the seat she was sitting in to stop herself from shaking. If it were anyone else, Nyx would have just left the car immediately and run for her life. The man was clearly hungover and mostly likely still a bit drunk. It’s not like he could possibly chase after her and actually manage to catch her.

But this wasn’t just anyone.

In front of this man, Nyx was torn between running and staying rooted in the driver’s seat just so she could look at him a bit longer. Still, she knew that staying wasn’t something she could do. She could only bite her lip to brace herself and calm her heart before putting on an act.

Just act as if you don’t know him. It will be fine.

Nyx found herself stupidly blurting out. /"Are you a killer?/"

Much to her surprise, the man laughed. Real laughter that made all his body shake and left her mouth hanging open in the air.

The sound of his voice genuinely laughing made her heart that she had painstakingly tried to calm down tremble violently.

Nyx was expecting the man to abruptly stop laughing and tell her /"Yes/" with a dead serious face, but his laughter faded away slowly and he wiped a tear off his right eye where Nyx noticed he had a tiny scar right under it where the skin was a bit pink.

That wasn’t there before. When did he get it?

/"Fucking hell, I'm too hungover for this shit./" The man said. /"Where did that come from?/"

Nyx shrugged, still looking at the scar under his eye with a frown.

/"Just making sure./" She managed to mutter with that little voice that was left in her.

The man shook his head, still laughing under his breath, and came to the front seat. Nyx had to turn the other way so not to have to face some male parts like his butt or... something else... Her pale face warmed up, turning red.

/"May I know why are you are in my car?/" The guy's face now looked more serious, even though slightly amused. It was like he was finding all this amusing, getting entertained by all this situation while all Nyx could do was to curse at herself for not being able to recognize her friend's car properly.

How blind could she be to get inside the wrong car? Well, in her defense Nyx knew shit about cars and couldn’t tell them apart even if her life depended on it.

She took the hood off her head, letting down her pastel blue hair, a poor attempt at trying to look proper and well-behaved so the man wouldn't immediately have the urge to sucker-punch her in the face... even though Nyx seriously doubted he would do even that.

/"Well.../" Nyx started to explain herself, but she didn't even have time to find a nice excuse when she heard the sirens of a police car approaching the car they were in.

HOLY SHIT, I CAN'T GET CAUGHT!

And like the good girl she was, Nyx just gasped loudly and jumped at the back seat of the car and hid there one second before the police car parked right behind the man's car and a cop walked to the driver's window.

/"What the.../" The man managed to say before the cop knocked on the driver's window with narrowed eyes fixed on the poor guy's confused face.

The man rolled down the window and the cop glared at him while Nyx just stood there hidden in the backseat, trying not to breathe.

/"Can you get out of the car, sir?/" The cop asked. He sniffed at the air in the car and scrunched up his nose. /"Have you been drinking?/"

The man's face fell when he heard the second question. He gave Nyx a quick glance, probably regretting not killing her when he had the chance.

Don’t look at me like that!

/"I wasn't the one driving./" The man tried to defend himself, but the cop wouldn't listen to him. His voice sounded sluggish and clearly drunk. Of course, the cop wouldn’t listen to him.

/"Step out of the car, young man./"

With the door opening, the man cursed under his breath and walked around the car to the cop.

Nyx could barely hear the conversation, but it's not like she actually needed to understand what was going on.

The cop talked for a while and then took out a breathalyzer. After that, it wasn't hard to tell how things would end. The cop put handcuffs on the young man and took him to the police car. As they drove away, Nyx could finally relax and let out a sigh of relief even though she felt sorry for the man.

Damn it, I didn't even get my jar!
