After Eric entered the forest the wind seemed to change a little bit.
The wind was a little cold and there was a slight smell of blood that didn't mean anything good.
The trees were tall and big, especially compared to a child-like Eric.
'This looks like a big forest' Eric thought after walking for more than half an hour.
The cold energy that was healing Eric's head before got weaker. But thanks to that he felt a lot better now.
'I think I should make a home somewhere here. But I should be careful because there may be some animals here. And I should also get some food fast since I am already starving. I don't think the matron would mind too much if I ate some of their food. And if she did, I would be even happier to steal some more.'
It was already night in the forest.
But Eric was hopeless. He didn't have fire and even didn't have anything to eat.
Eric was trying to fall asleep on a branch of a tree that he somehow managed to climb after some struggles.
But the cold wind was slowly freezing Eric into an ice cube. The clothes he had were like something only a homeless person would wear.
And they didn't even isolate him from the cold wind.
'I can't do anything else right now. All the wood is wet after the rain that was all day. I don't have any food since I went so away from the orphanage and I don't know how to get some any other way.
The only thing I can do is to return to the orphanage and try to secretly live there.'
As Eric climbed down from the tree he tried to remember the direction where the orphanage was. He couldn't remember. When his feet touched the grass he heard something.
*Howl*
*Howl*
*Howl*
'Huh, what was that? It looks like there are some wolves in this forest. I need to run.'
Eric just picked a random direction and just ran. While he was running he heard them howling behind him. Eric couldn't estimate the exact distance but it must have been far away.
As Eric was running he thought more about what happened before in his head. 'Before, that cold thing healed me. It came from my heart to my head and started healing when I was injured and needed help. Maybe it worked just like that? If I wanted something would it happen? Isn't that too simple?'
As many thoughts ran through Eric's mind, he slowly stopped focusing on what was around him. Not surprisingly he stepped on a rock that was covered in moss.
With a surprised expression, Eric fell down on his knee sliding a few meters ahead because of inertia.
Not that serious, it was just bleeding a little but that was enough for Eric to cry. If it was Eric from before he would have surely cried.
But now after experiencing the void and the head injury made Eric's pain resistance better.
But now Eric's mind spun rapidly again not learning from his previous mistakes. 'The wolves were rapidly approaching. If I tried to run with my leg hurt my speed would be much slower. So I should make use of that cold weird thing and pray for the best.'
'Before I just wanted it to happen so much that it happened. But that was healing although an amazing ability but I don't know how to use that one to help me with the wolves. Maybe if I concentrate and try to put it in my hands/legs I could heal my leg and move faster? Worth a try.'
I concentrated as much as I could and repeated something in my mind to make the warm energy move again and do what I wanted.
I tried to remember the feeling I had earlier to use it better but nothing happened even after what felt like a minute to me.
'The wolves were already fast approaching I had less than 2 minutes before they would be able to kill me. I need to try other things as well. But what?!' At that second Eric looked in the direction of the wolves and noticed that they were already next to him!
'What?! How could they get here so fast? Or did I just take too long?'
Three wolves were already looking at me like some kind of toy. Even though wolves normally couldn't express that through eyes.
Eric hated that look more than the looks from before in the orphanage. It made him feel so powerless and useless.
But there was nothing he could do. He couldn't run, he couldn't defend himself with his power.
Eric was doomed.
Or so Eric thought. Then there was the sound of best in the bushes next to Eric.
Eric looked behind with some hope that something or someone would be able to help him.
A small but sparkly green creature slowly made its way out of the bush.
It was a small snake. Of course, it was small compared to wolves but it was a normal-sized snake that looked like a python.
It was green with blue dots all over the body. It had a scary aura around it that would make any human fear it.
The snake looked into Eric's eyes with some emotion which is something deemed absurd.
But Eric just prayed it would help him somehow even though it was impossible and he knew it.
A snake defeating or scaring away wolves was unimaginable even more than the thought that it wanted to help him.
Snake then looked at the wolves and just slowly went before Eric like it was protecting him.
Although that was weird Eric was happy that someone for once would help him. Of course, it could also be that the snake just wanted the prey for itself but it didn't matter to Eric.
The wolves probably decided that was enough, and the one on the right decided to attack Eric.
As it opened its mouth while jumping, the snake suddenly opened its mouth and a fast green ball suddenly appeared in its mouth and shot towards the wolf with the speed of a thrown rock.
The green ball hit the wolf in his chest with great accuracy and the wolf was sent back with the power of the ball.
It was quite a magical sight of a snake defeating a wolf.
The ball somehow went inside the wolf but didn't do any kind of wound, but the wolf looked sicker now.
The other wolf looked at their friend and was probably scared by the snake's power. And decided to run for now.
Once they disappeared from sight. There was only a wolf weakly lying on the ground and a scary snake that was looking right into Eric's eyes with unknown ideas on how to deal with him.
The whole time Eric was just wondering what happened with the wolves only now realizing that the true danger was right before him, and he even knew how to use something like magic!
