Chapter 33 - Rangi 06

Rangi was not at the edge of the pit that he had just finished climbing out of. He was unsure if the ground around the hole that formed the pit was stable enough to support his weight anymore properly. He knew he was on top of the facility that was underground. Given he had already broken through the ground and the ceiling of the facility once already from his fall. He did not want to take any chances of the hole in the ground growing bigger because he was too close to it. However, he was not that far away just far enough that it should not matter as long as nothing crashed down onto the ground like he had.

Thus he was taking a break to collect himself before moving on. Rangi then found his arm which was still wearing the gauntlets that he woke up with was raised up blocking a bladed weapon with them.

"Not only are you still alive but you even managed to somehow acquire a relic too," his attacker said

'That's what these things are as should those things be a little far more flashy or stand outish' Rangi thought giving a glance to them.

Then wondered if the one attacking him was using one of them as well.

"And who do you think is to blame for that" Rangi replied

Still pissed that they were chasing them even after they realized he ran off a cliff even if unknowingly cause of them.

Rangi then found his arm grasping the weapon with one hand now and then delivered a powerful body blow as he yanked his now shocked attacker towards him with the other.

He then had both his arms raised to in front of his face. Managing to block another blow but not enough to prevent them from being pushed back in the process.

'They really are fighting for me it seems' Rangi thought as he various stories about how sentient weapons also called relics by some could actually fight for their owners at times. However, that was not something he was just going to keep letting happen without doing anything about so after his gauntlets acted on their own again. He used that chance to catch them off guard.

The attacker then found themselves on the ground as their legs were kicked out from under them. Rangi was starting to take a more active role in this fight. Rather than just being a passive observer who merely has his arms moved about by his own weapon. Instead of it being the other way around like it normally should be.

Working with the gauntlet, Rangi plunged his fist into the ground causing a crater where the attacker's head had been a moment earlier. The attacker made a quick glance shocked it was being caused by gauntlets their target had just managed to find found somehow.

Then a heated exchange happened as Rangi attempted a furry of blows against his attacker. Ones that were blocked at almost every moment except through near misses. Such things were punished as dodging within just a hair's length led to a sudden change in direction which caused the blow to hit.

Rangi was going with the flow and planned their next movement accordingly. If he barely missed he would allow the gauntlet to move his arms to hit or block for him. He was not sure what or why he had them just yet. However, if they wanted to cause him harm then they could have done so while he was out cold and/or just moved his body beyond what should normally be possible for one in the first place.

Stumbling back from a recent blow Rangi noticed his attacker actually cough up some blood from that body blow they had taken.

'How is it possible! They are just some random relic he found out there was not only able to stand up to my own but that power of that strike should not be possible for dual type relic' they thought.

Dual type relics were those whose natural forms were two different weapons. Different from the transforming type where a single weapon could become multiple or as the name suggests transform. Though the weakness of the dual type was their overall strength and power were halved between the two of them.

'Yet that blow felt like it was not only a normal level but higher for some reason the attacker thought.

Unable to fully regain themselves and their standing in this fight anymore. Their only option was to flee themselves and run away though the cause was not because of their target's newly found relic. Even though he seemed to be able to use it at a decent level it seems that he either did not know how to use their ability or was not doing it for some reason. That his attacks were landing because the attacker was being caught off guard so focusing could have caused a different outcome. However, that first blow caught them completely off guard and managed to score a massively critical hit on them.

Of course, such thought and getting distracted during the middle of a fight could and would prove costly. Rangi got in another good blow that mirrored the first one that did massive damage. Then followed it up with the attacker's head being smashed in their knee.

Aware of the difference in their ability as well as their experience this causes Rangi to run away after that last attack. He was not sure where he was going but he just knew that he had to get away from this place as quickly as possible. The idea was that his attacker might not be alone but merely working with someone or for some group. The idea of even getting back up once they recovered his most recent attack to ensure that they finished the job this time around was a possibility. Rangi was guessing at this point him gaining the gauntlet he now while something that his attacker thought would have happened. Would become less of an unknown factor the longer this fight was drawn out.

So managed to take advantage of his attacker being distracted, and Rangi was gone. Though he would could have possibly been aware that an order that came up now was considered a higher priority than the one dealing with just Rangi, himself, came up thus why did his attacker did not even attempt to chase after him anymore
