Chapter 39 - Tafu 03

The girl was taken back and planned to be used as bait to lure the other survivor out. However, that did not seem to be necessary though as they discovered it rather quickly through their information network. Did not realize they would have left their isolated villager to travel that often... and they were sold out by someone they trusted. Thus the hunt for them was on.

Tafu still in a state of shock taken back to the what was no longer the village of Malbury Point but instead its ruins. Where there were only two villagers that were left alive at this point that being herself and Rangi. How the leader of this group knew about this village or Rangi in the first place was unclear. Surely the leader was pissed that the one person they wanted to ensure was dead was not even here at the moment.

"They should have been here for me to kill them with everyone else," the leader said

Slamming their fist against the ruins of one of the houses which then caused it to crumble completely as a result of their strike.

"No matter according to the info that I got this girl here is important to them thus maybe she could be used as bait," they said

A few days later...

The leader realized that Rangi was not coming at all as he was not rushing to what remains of his hometown just to join the rest of them in the afterlife as a result of this. Which led to what to do with Tafu now that she was not needed anymore. The leader of the group that caused all this destruction then had an idea. They found some old documents about how to make sentient weapons that were supposed to have been lost in time.

It would be hard to test this one on anyone else even a prisoner to some degree. They would have to account for what happened to them and other things as well. Also since the sentient weapon would have a human form based on the person that it was created from. Using even prisoners marked for death would make it harder to explain away why a sentient weapon had its form. Not only that the method was supposed to be lost to time so that would place a target on their country's back. There was currently a finite number of them and anyone that could make more would be a target to have it stolen from them. The girl was from a village no one knew about and since the only other person from still alive. Never spoke about where they were from or anyone from there. There should be no one to recognize her but they should it work out at all.

Tafu's mind despite the time that had passed was still yet to fully recover from the shock and trauma that was caused to it. Thus did not realize when a strange circle appeared on the ground around here. The circle was lit up and that soon she was no longer in the ruins of Malbury Point anymore but somewhere else. One where she was not in shock anymore at least at the moment and noticed several statues were surrounding her.

"Seem like step one worked" she heard.

"What do you want with me now, murderer" she exclaimed seeing the leader of the group that wiped out her village.

"Just want to see if something I found works that's all," they told her.

The girl then raised her hand to yell at him only to see that was becoming metallic. The same type of metal that she noticed the other statues that were nearby were made of seemingly. Thus she realized that those were not originally statues and that whatever had turned them in that state. The leader of the group that massacred her village was somehow doing it to her as well. She was not able to react or think more about the issue at hand beyond this as the transformation of the cause to go from flesh and blood to merely another statue just like the other in what seemed like an endless white void space happened a mere moment later.

"You are no longer needed as bait so rather than just kill you. I thought I used you for something that might be interesting" they told her.

Soon when the light faded Tafu was no more as in her place was a metallic statue similar to the ones that surrounded the place. Before the leader could get close to her the Tafu statue though. Something interesting happened as rather than someone else caused the shell that her body was part of to appear. She had fallen apart completely and utterly on her own without the usual process needing to be taken revealing nothing more than medium size book amongst the rumble that was once her body.

" A book! This is worthless. You were supposed to become a weapon, not a mere book. How do you even consider a book as a weapon in the first place" they said annoyed tossing the book aside " At least your shell can be useful for something"

The book still was taken back with them to be examined to see if there was any hidden worth to it but it was deemed too worthless once more as all that listed in the pages were magic up to the basic level only. Even if it had all the elements included it was only up to the basic level versions and thus not even deemed that good. There were countless other books like this and thus it was placed amongst them in a library. Where it would stay as the entire book was blank. Their nothing on the cover or bidder either.

Even those who went looking for a magic book overlooked it. That was until one day merely because all the others were checked out someone picked it up and took home themselves. Unaware that what they had was not a mere book but a sentient weapon known as a grimoire.
