Lutz looked at the book he was just straight up given to own. Not just checked out of the library but they had just handed it over to him to keep for good. It was something that he had found odd but he was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth after all. They were giving him something like this for free as he was sure that this was a book that would prove useful to him going forward. Thus he was worried that he might not always be able to check it out should he have to treat it like the other books in the library—that or worse in that it was not allowed to leave the library grounds. There were many books like that however all of those were far too hard for him to understand as such he did not really care for them nor did pay them much mind at this point. Only looking for those that he could understand even if just barely however the one he had now was different.
Everything was just so clear and precise. It was something that he could understand and make sense of rather than just trying to do so. I hoped that his understanding of what he read was correct, but I had no way of knowing for sure. Though Lutz was a citizen of Valia where magic was everything that did not mean he had the same base knowledge that everyone else did. His hometown was one where that was not the case for everyone and he just never realized this because the magic they used was so commonplace that did not have to actually cast themselves. Everything there was done through items and equipment that did it for them. Thus they never had to learn how to do it themselves thus putting Lutz massively behind now that he was trying to learn everything he should have just known and been taught already since birth.
Once Lutz was close enough to see the dorm area where he was staying. He put away his new book and started looking for the key he would need to enter into the dorms themselves. The dorm area was where hopefully they were looking to become a mage of Valia and/or regain that status for themselves. Once Lutz got to them he found that the dorm leader of his own was there waiting for him with his own bag, the one he used to carry all his stuff when he first got here, at their feet.
"Ummm....why is my bag out here with you at this time," Lutz asked him.
It was not dark just yet but it was clearly getting late and everyone that should be going home was doing so. Lutz was no exception to this thus he was wondering why his bag was outside like this. As others were coming back from their various duties and tasks, they just walked by not really giving him or his situation a second glance. This was typical as Lutz did not have any friends here or quite possibly within this entire city actually...at least to his knowledge he did not.
His dorm leader just sighed and then casually tossed it at him using their own magic not even bothering to pick it up and hand it to Lutz themselves. At the same time restraining the desire to kick it over to him that was they just barely able to contain within themselves.
"It's over," they told him.
"What's over" Lutz inquired curiously as he picked up his bag.
"There have been some new rules put into place as you can not no longer apply for the mage division anymore" his now former dorm leader informed him.
Lutz then just looked at them in shock as he was in a sense made homeless just now. If he was kicked out of the dorms then he would not have anywhere to live at this point. Having left home a long time ago now he was not able to get back there on his own at this point either.
"One last thing as you are at least going to be transported to the nearest town as a final goodbye for all your hard work" the dorm leader informed him.
Before Lutz could say or do anything he along with all the stuff that he had on him at the moment was transported away at that very instant with teleportation magic.
"Finally got rid of him as he just did not know when to call it quits," the dorm leader said
They and everyone else who saw what had just happened looked now as if a weight had been lifted off their shoulders. That something akin to an itch they were never able to scratch before had finally been dealt with not just for the time being. The root cause of the itch itself had been isolated and removed not only would it no longer happen again but they would not have to worry about a new one or worse a bigger one ever popping up to bother them again
The mage division saw Lutz as a good means to show off what not to do and how not to be to those who were trying to become a mage of Valia. However, the problem they discovered was having someone who was constantly failing to pass their exam and entering into just the academy itself for basic training. That was not looking good on their overall image. If they kept allowing someone that they did not deem as qualified continuously and endlessly take the exam. Rather than drive people like them away to only attract those that were considered desirable instead. The opposite would be possible as they had a setup currently where the claim was anyone could become a member of Valia's mage division to the general public and around the world. This was the image that the country wanted to be seen and reap the benefits of it. However, Lutz was the only one at the moment that did not realize that was merely lip service for the division image and nothing more.
