It had been a while since Lutz was kicked out of the mage academy back in Valia. Well not only kicked out of the academy but out of the entire country itself. Though he still was not aware that it was done on purpose. When he appeared in the country he was currently in that was one of the first things that he managed to learn that it was in fact not the nearby town as he was told. It was truly a different country altogether leaving him stranded here with no way of getting back to Valia at all.
Luckily he had enough of the international currency to afford a room at an inn. Though he was at the moment earning his money to feed and take care of his need through various odd jobs at the moment. The town he had been 'accidentally' transported to was one where it was not free to join the adventurer's guild. It cost money and money he did not have at the moment. Plus his goal of becoming a mage had not changed even if he was now unable to join the mage division of Valia through the academy. Then it might be possible to do so through other means as there were rare cases where mages from outside of those that graduated from the academy were allowed to join the division themselves. What happened to these outsider mages once they joined was unknown to Lutz as he only knew that one could join that way.
What Lutz was not aware of was those mages did not join the mage division of Valia as much as they were converted to it. They were thoroughly and completely dominated to become loyal servants of Valia and follow the orders of their superiors above all else. It was not the method anyone would want to go through but again the mage division only portrayed what made them look good to the general public while hiding everything else that made them look bad in the process. This was done through whatever means possible as per their usual way of doing things after all.
During his time in the town he had been sent to, there was one massive difference between the Lutz of now and the one he had been while trying to get into the mage academy back in Valia. That being that he was finally able to hone that raw talent of his for magic into actually being able to use it to some degree. As for the level of magic, it was rare and low as well as it was not that useful for live combat either. However, for the various odd jobs he was doing around the town at the moment, it was enough for him to make a small living that way. At least enough as he was planning out his next immediate goal as sure he had his long time goal in mind. Though that was something that was too far off in the distance as he could not accomplish that goal until he got back to Valia so figuring out how to get back was step one currently.
Arriving back in his room at the inn. There was not much in the room not only because he was just staying there temporarily but also because he really did not have that much on him. The bag he was given contained all his stuff inside that was still considered his and not property of the mage academy itself. The one thing that interested him and he cared about the most at the moment was the book he was given from the library to keep for free no strings attached.
Looking through the book he was amazing at just why anyone would consider this book to be worthless. Sure it started out empty beyond the first page just being an intro into magic. However, once he really read and understood that part of the book, a new section just appeared that went over the very basics of mage itself starting with the lowest level magics at the moment.
"This is so easy to understand….however, it would be nice if there was a part on how to improve control over the elements in general," Lutz said out loud.
The book then flipped a page forward from where he was reading by a sudden wind. Then a transparent metallic finger pointed at what he was looking for.
Lutz turned around and found there was a transparent metallic girl just floating behind him. Backing away for a second the girl then floats towards him holding the book in her hands somehow. Pointing to the same spot she had been before.
"Are you trying to tell me that helps with overall element control in general?" Lutz asked.
Cocking her head to the side she just kept pointing to the section of the book while presenting it to him.
This was the first meeting of two that were considered worthless not because they truly were but because the system they found themselves in was not able to acknowledge their worth by design.
