Chapter 10 - Dancing Shadow

Kivas chose another [Blight Expansion] because it is available. He didn't appraise the other option as much because of the comfort he felt for every bite of mineral ores that he consumed. The radius of his torch's illumination had been extended to 6 meters. It was quite a feat knowing that he didn't really do anything much but to socialize and explore this crowded mine and their gentle dweller.

After a while, it seemed like the dispatched exploration squad had found something. The giant skeleton urged Kivas and his skelebro into somewhere outside of the mine. There was a single old crude tent on the corner near the wall of the cavern, and in the middle of the wide bluish glade was a big bonfire with numerous skeletons dancing around it in a circle.

Kivas saw that some of the skeletons were equipped with heavy knightly armor and hammer, giving off the impression of a fallen paladin who served their mistress even after their life served the death.

The situation became even more festive as time went by, even the serious-looking skimpy outfit lady could be seen doing some weird dance synchronously with the nearby reanimated skeleton.

'Everything is going well.' Kivas nodded as he was given more mineral ores by his skelebro's friend. 'Too well, in fact, that I can't help but think that something is about to happen. Don't you think so, skelebro?'

The skelebro shrugged.

'Also, is this just me, or have you all shrunk to my size?'

Kivas' body had grown from that of a puppy-size into that of an adult lion. Quite possibly due to all of that excessive ores he consumed. While his size haad increased, the weird anatomy of his body didn't really change all that much.

But if he were to deduce his growth pace if he kept consuming the ores from the mine, he would have probably become as big as an elephant in no time.

'Well, I guess I need to try a diet to keep my body size balanced.'

As 2 hours and 22 minutes passed, Kivas acquired another purple orbs. He then allocated it to [Blight Expansion]. the most safe choice out of all, especially since his current run was more successful than the rest.

With the illumination of the torch increased to 7 meters, Kivas kept up with his former record. One more purple orb and he would break his own record for the largest radius of the torch's illumination.

'These groups look so lively.'

As Kivas enjoyed the festive sight, the skelebro cackled his jaw.

He was telling that the demoness lady was actually just a normal individual in a normal village, Due to the increase in taxes, she traveled for miles to set up a haunted mine where she could establish the infrastructure of her own power. All to support the monetary wealth of her village to be able to keep up with the demand.

'I see, so things like country and kingdom exist in this world!' His puppy eyes sparkled like those who were waiting for a treat. 'Then there is a chance that humans exist in this world!'

Apparently, the skelebro explained that this practice of controlling the enigma and the dead is called Deadcraft. Things like reanimating skeletons and even building an undead infrastructure were one of the things one could achieve with the Deadcraft.

Kivas' skelebro then told that he was one of the former Deadcraft practicioner. There seemed to be a lot going on with his former life, but he decided to tell such a tale for another time.

The reason why he wanted to serve the demoness lady was because of her eagerness to practice Deadcraft, even though she partially sucks at it. Such an indomitable spirit to learn had managed to gain respect from the former practitioner of the same art.

'I see, so they call these magic-like things as Arts.'

Not exactly, what was the skelebro signaled. It seemed like the name for this kind of supernatural practice was called differently in each region and continents.

Kivas then asked why the skelebro didn't just help the lady in her training. Apparently, the quality of the Deadcraft used to reanimate the skelebro was that of a low level, thus he couldn't do any kind of arts that he acquired in the former life.

'By the way, do you know the name of your own mistress?'

Apparently, the skelebro didn't know. The same for the other skeletons who had just come to see Kivass feeds on the mineral ores. The demoness lady never uttered her name. Not to mention, all of the reanimated skeletons in here haven't been pledged into a contract with her, hence why none of them know the name of their own master.

Every single one of them followed the demoness lady by their own will, without any tampering of contract and any kind of soulbinding. They said that when a new guy on the blocks has any malicious intent against the mistress, they all will teach the new skeleton a lesson.

And because of how sucks the mistress' deadcraft was, the power of the reanimated skeletons were almost the same with one another, no matter how strong they were before in their former life.

Well, most of them were satisfied with how their current life was, even as a fragile structure of bones.

The fact that one could see them all celebrate the finding of the Tomb of Relics with their mistress said a lot.

'By the way, what is the Tomb of Relics?'

Not a second after, something flew really fast from the direction of the forest. One of the dancing skeleton's heads was shattered into pieces.

'An attack!?'

Every skeleton in the vicinity armed themselves.

The demoness lady immediately took command of her skeletons army to fight the invader. Using the woods surrounding the glade as covers, a skirmish war broke out inside the forest.

Kivas who hadn't acquired the basic understanding of the surrounding place had no choice but to follow his skelebro who had just got back to the entrance of the mine to pick some pickaxes. He then dual wielded the pickaxes before rushing to join the frontier. Kivas followed suit with several skeleton miners.

'Just as I thought that things could go wrong!'
