Chapter 37 - Pipes

IMPORTANT NOTICE

It's still a long way to go until then, but I wanted to ask if you as the readers would mind it if I decided to not make Fleur the only LI. I'm not talking about a harem or even just two girlfriends/wives at the same time, it would still be only one at a time, but while most readers apparently prefer Fleur as the LI, I personally think it is hard to find a fanfic with decent romance if the author made this decision.

That also wouldn't mean that Fleur is just out, but that there will at least be the option at a later point in time (and I'm talking much later here) where she could be replaced by an oc that is not introduced as of now but already has a few hundred words in background in my notes, in case that it doesn't work out as you and I hope it will.

I would appreciate any feedback on this but whatever that may be there will be no guarantee that I will follow every proposal you have, for now I will go with Fleur as the Plan A anyways, as that is what by far most of you voted for.

Anyways, have a nice day and, hopefully, a nice read.

The next day in class Julius was, as he had expected, very tired, so he just trained his wandless magic by letting his pen float under his desk, out of the view of the ghost who was his teacher, even though it most likely wouldn't have been noticed even if he had done otherwise.

With his testing until now he had been able to confirm exactly what the R.O.B. had already told him; he had a far bigger amount of magic power and was able to mobilise even more of it instantly which, on a totally unrelated note, would help him start playing quidditch for Slytherin, something which he absolutely wanted to do as fast as possible.

Of course his liquified magic core wouldn't help his poor physique, but it would at least allow him to use magic more easily to save himself.

After all Daph's twin brother had died doing just that in canon if he remembered the comment of another reader of a fanfiction correctly.

(A/N: I know that's wrong but I have indeed seen such a comment once and Julius can't google information like this to check if it's correct.)

This day he also got an interesting bit of information when Dumbledore had dinner in the great hall.

As he had expected from someone who had been the main defender of the light against two dark lords in one century Dumbledore had actually broken through the last barrier Julius knew of, but against his expectations it wasn't actually much more.

[MP 103]

Before this Julius had expected Dumbledore to have reached a higher amount, but perhaps it was because of his age that he was just barely above the 100-mark anymore.

Since it was the elusive 100 mp-mark Julius did not have any wizard to compare him to, which was a bit annoying.

'I wish I knew if the power scaling is the same here as in the books, he could after all be the extremely powerful person of many fanfictions I've read, or „just" the senile and slightly strong wizard he often seemed to be in the books. The only time he was ever actually shown duelling was when he fought Voldemort in the ministry and even there he wasn't too outstanding compared to his reputation, with many wizards, especially in magical Britain, hailing him as the second coming of Merlin himself. Not that I would care even if it was higher than that, for now I have no f*cking idea how to get through the 100 mp mark anyways.'

After a while of thinking Julius started feeling uncomfortable just staring at the old man like that, so he decided to concentrate on his food again, but as soon as he turned his head, unnoticed by him, the person he had just looked at for so long turned in his direction for just a moment before smiling and turning to his food again.

Later that day Julius, Habol and Lia found themselves standing in an empty girls' bathroom in front of the „broken" sink and with Myrtle crying somewhere deep in her toilet after Habol had told her he didn't want to „live" there for the rest of his unlife after he eventually died.

„Now, would you please tell me we aren't here to just go through this sink in the f*cking girls' restroom?", Habol had been uncomfortable from the moment he learned where they would enter the pipes.

Of course Julius had not told him how they would enter them as he planned to at least show them the door to the chamber of secrets before telling them the legend of a centuries-old secret vault, created by one of the founders himself, was actually true and they would use the pipes connected to it to traverse the castle.

Of course he could also just not tell them at all but then there would always be the danger of them finding the door while for some reason exploring the pipes alone and opening it, not knowing of the danger within.

Of course there was a chance that Habol would be able to control the Basilisk and Julius definitely planned to test that out, but only when he was confident in his ability to fight the overgrown snake.

Not that that would be any time soon.

„No, actually we're here for a secret passage that is the only entrance fit for humans to enter the pipe system of the castle as well a something else. And this ‚something' is what I want to show you since I don't know if you will believe me if I just tell you."

Habol opened his mouth as if he wanted to retort but then seemed to change his mind and closed his mouth again.

Lia was just watching them quietly and with a curious expression on her face so Julius decided it was time and, after casting the spell for keeping clean he learned before on himself and his friends, he opened the passageway.

~Open~

Even though I took that much time for this chapter especially at the end it just gave me a bad feeling, I don't know why.

But anyways, thank you for reading :)
