Chapter 6 - Family

After Marcus Rosier left Julius just sat in the pavilion quietly, enjoying the silence, only broken by the occasional chirping of birds until he was interrupted by the sound of laughter shortly before his mother together with his little sister came in sight.

Daphne was only one year old, so their father, to whom manners were extremely important, didn't allow her to eat at the same table as him.

Julius still vividly remembered the day his mother first made the mistake of bringing her to the breakfast table.

Back then her only experience with her husband's disdain for children had been with her son, in which case he was more lenient, considering it was about his heir.

Back then Daphne had accidentally made a small mess, as was to be expected from a one year old; but that wasn't an excuse in their father's eyes.

He loudly demanded his wife remove this "eyesore" from the table and when Adorabella made an attempt at refusing him he began loudly threatening her, resulting in a burst of accidental magic from Daphne.

Apparently agitatet from the situation she couldn't even begin to comprehend, she released a tiny magical shockwave in the direction of her father and while that wasn't even enough to make him flinch, it caused some of the still hot tea he had been drinking to spill all over him, sullying his clothes and burning his skin.

I response Florian Greengrass furiously pulled out his wand and began using one of his favourite spells: The cruciatus curse.

But since she knew what this would do to her one year old daughter Adorabella protected her daughter with her own body and endured it as good as she could, managing to stay almost silent all throughout.

After venting his anger in this way Florian Greengrass had calmed down enough to realise he didn't want a disabled daughter and left the room without another word.

And even though Julius noticed his father was much more brutal with his wife and son for a few days afterwards, the only punnishment he handed out to his daughter was forbidding her from eating at the same table as him.

Still, Julius loved his little sister and played with her as much as he could.

'I need to keep her from becoming the "ice princess" talked about in the books. It surely doesn't have anything to do with how cute she is.'

When his mother saw Julius she immediately rushed towards him, searching for the injuries or signs of curses she expected. After all no one just suddenly stopped being a death eater for no reason.

"Don't worry mum he didn't do anything to me I'm okay. He just used legilimency on me, said something about me being a natural occlumens and went to see father."

Julius smiled reassuringly trying to calm his mother down, he had been relatively weak for all of his live, something not exactly ideal with a father like Florian Greengrass, so she had developed a current worry for his wellbeing.

"Are you sure Jules? You he hasn't done anything to you? You know you can tell me about everything right?"

After Julius' words his mother seemed to be even more worried. Seeing her gaze getting even more worried worried he sighed internally.

"Yes mum don't worry I'm really fine he was, well not exactly nice but he didn't do anything bad either. You really don't have to worry about this.

Finally his mother's worry started to lessen and she hugged him tightly. Though surprised Julius immediately hugged her back. At this moment he realised that not only the magical part of this world was better than his last world, this was the first time he had had a family and it was a great feeling, even his little sister seemed have sensed this feeling and joined in on the hug.

'Okay my decision definitely stands I will not abandon my family. Now how do I get "father" out of the way best?"

Not knowing of the plans to murder her husband his mother lightened her embrace and calmed down, while Julius started tickling his little sister who immediately started giggling happily.

After playing with Daphne for a bit Julius went back to his room and sat down on his bed.

'I think I can finally try to train my magic after all I still remember the feeling when the stone used my magic to contact George. Maybe I should try levitating things first.'

Recalling the feeling from before Julius started feeling his magic first until he felt a little of the cool feeling in his body which was surprisingly easy but somehow he just couldn't get his magic to leave his body even without trying to to move the pen he was holding in his hand.

'Maybe I should just try to move it inside my body then?'

After a few minutes just trying to move the magic in his body he noticed a strong resistance whenever he tried to move it away from his belly so he tried just feeling the magic in his body without manipulating it.

'As I thought this magic is slowly flowing in the direction of my belly for some reason. Maybe I should just try to accelerate what is happening naturally? It should after all not be harmful, at least I hope so.'

After a while of testing his theory Julius finally stopped. It seems like even while going with the stream it was a momentous feat to further the process even just a tiny bit.

'Wait, can't I check if I've made any progress? Status!'

Name: Julius Aurelius Abraxus

Age: 4 years (of 142)

Bloodline(s):

Abraxus (dominant)

The bloodline of the Abraxus family famously creates wizards especially capable in the dark arts, its biggest positive aspect is a boost in the ability too learn death-related magic far faster than anyone else. In return any wizard with this bloodline is not able to use the patronus spell. (Further information locked for the time being)

Greengrass (cursed)

The Greengrass family's bloodline originally created wizards with strong physical abilities but (unknown) placed a curse on it, therefore limiting the physical capabilities of its descendants extremely. In some cases the curse affects descendants of this bloodline enough to even make them extremely weak to the point where early deaths are expected and any physically straining activities can lead to a seizure further worsening the overall condition of the affected while. The curse feeds itself of the mana of the host and therefore slightly reduces his mana regeneration and grow of the already existing amount.

Black (diluted)

The Black family's bloodline provides in its diluted form only a moderately big boost on the ability to learn any of the dark arts. The predisposition for a madness developed over generations of incest is completely cancelled by the dilution coupled with a met requirement of mana.

'Okay that is interesting for sure. My theory till now was that the first category of everything under 10 would be the time before kids got their wands and started learning magic at eleven so every year one point should be added but now I got a year's worth of magic power from just this little effort, but maybe that was only because it was the first time I did it so it will be less efficient from now on. Well, I will see about that after I tried it a few more times. But now I need to get down to dinner. It seems I lost my sense of time a bit while training my magic I should be careful next time, after all "father", even though not caring about his family at all, still insists on having breakfast and dinner together.'
