Dillon
Another day, another stupid communications meeting. Sometimes I regret working in this hell hole but it keeps me afloat and busy from my thoughts so why not. We have an intern starting today and that's rare because I hardly ever take up interns at the office; they don't serve a purpose but this Azzaria girl was a real challenger and I can tell it's gonna be a fun experience based on our interview.
"Janet," I called out "where are my suits?" I asked her, she's the help.
"Dillon, they are laid out on your bed" she replied.
"Just because we fucked twice doesn't mean you can call me Dillon, it's Mr. Xander for you," I snapped rather harshly at her and she left. God, I hate when I have sex with a woman and they feel it's more than just sex—I was bored and horny, it happens. I just chose a random suit. I honestly couldn't give a shit this morning.
The entire day just felt completely awful like it was about to go to shit. I left the bedroom and went to get a bit of work done in my office. My clothes weren't even fitted on me properly because I had to do a few things in my study before leaving.
I walked down the stairs and saw my precious pup—pebbles. I love her more than anything in the world. Every time she sees me, she greets me by jumping on me or running around me. I put the puppy chow in her dog bowl and walked over to my study.
"Good morning D," Mara said scaring me. Didn't she leave yesterday or does she just love my house more than anything else?
"Morning Mar, what are you doing here?"
"I'm pregnant and my husband is annoying me so here I am but there's something I have to tell you," she said in an anxious tone. I've learnt better than to get involved with Mara and her husband's arguments, they have a very weird relationship. Plus he's my friend so I try to keep myself out of it.
"Tell me what?"
"It's about Annalise," she said and gulped. Mara above all, knows how sensitive of that topic that woman is.
"I don't want to hear it," I shouted and walked over to my desk.
"Dillion it-" Mara said but her sentence was cut off.
"Honey hello," I heard and spun around shocked. This can't be fucking happening today.
"What the fuck is she doing here?" I asked and clenched my fist. Whoever did this really wants to get on my bad side for the rest of life.
"I came here and saw her you dufus and told this whore to leave," Mara cursed and hissed her teeth.
"Annalise," I said after taking a deep breath "get the fuck out of my house," I shouted.
"I called about a million times and you didn't answer. Is that how you treat your wife?" She asked and pouted. Is this woman insane or what is even going on right now?
"Annalise, listen to me and listen to me good. You are nothing to me. I don't ever want to fucking see you unless it's in your casket and even then, I don't want to see you," I spat and left my office. She wouldn't leave the house anytime soon but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have to.
In our divorce a few things were at stake for example how she forged the housing documents putting her name on it so legally I can't kick her out but she doesn't live there. Whenever she wants to cause trouble or make a comeback in my life, she shows up here but I'm done with her. I tried my best but I'm out of energy and patience.
I went to finish getting dressed, walk pebbles a bit and grabbed my things to leave the house. Mara would probably be in the car waiting on me and Annalise was somewhere; as long as she stays the hell away from me, I'm good.
"Good morning boss, where to?" Mikkel asked.
"HQ and make it quick," I snapped.
Control was assumed in all aspects of my life and it's been that way from I was a boy and nothing is going to be changed. I live off the fear, pain, and control of other people. If you can't show your control then you can't be a boss. With all these thoughts consuming my brain, I didn't realize we had arrived at the office. Mara stayed awfully quiet and that's expected— she knew that I wasn't in a good mood and I wouldn't even want to hear her voice.
I walked into the building to see all the thirsty females employees eye-fucking me and gosh, it reeked of desperation. I hate a desperate female. I should just fire everybody but as whore like as they are, they get my work done.
"Mara, set up the meeting room for me please," I said to her in a calm voice.
She didn't deserve to witness the outburst I had at the office and I wouldn't ever apologize but I'd do my best to make her feel comfortable going forward. She has PTSD from being an abuse victim and she's easily triggered— both of us are. I just learnt how to turn my fear into control.
"Sure," she said smiling at me and walked off.
I walked into my office and noted that Azzaria, the new intern, was already seated and waiting on me to get there. I give her points for being on time but who told her that she has any right to entire my office before me?
The first thing I noted and would mentally commend, was her attire. She was appropriately and moderately dressed for this internship period. I've fostered some amount of students in my tenure and they have always disgusted me in either how poorly or how promiscuously they dress.
"Good morning," I said, frightening her out of thought.
"Good morning Mr. Xander, you're late," she said and spun her head around to face me. Was she not going to get up from the chair?
"It's my office," I spoke and walked over to my desk.
"Your office and you can't follow your own rules, how do you expect your employees to respect you?" She asked and shared a mistuned laugh. Azzaria was walking on thin borders. Who even was she to be questioning me like this?
"Ms. Willis-"
"Don't even deny it, you know I'm right. I didn't come here to chitchat, I came here to get this internship done, so what should I do?"
"Watch your mouth, for starters," I said snapping at her.
"Sir, that will never happen." she chuckled and stood up from the chair walking towards the door.
"Sit down," I shouted.
She looked at me, scoffed and continued walking towards the door. "I said to sit down now." It's people like her that let me lose my table manners and start raging like a damn bull.
Azzaria stilled and walked right over to seat as I thought she would. There's no way she'd come into my premises and assume control over anything.
"Are you going to give me a job? Or stare at me all day?"
"Assistant. Your office is right beside mine," I spoke.
"Great. Can I leave now?"
"I didn't know you would even ask questions," I asked sarcastically.
"I'm trying to be polite but I'll just go anyways," she spoke and left the office space. I won't lie, Azzaria intrigued me, not in a weird of sexual way but it's not often you see a woman take control of anything or stand up in the way that I saw her stand up.
I would've gladly kept her in here longer but unfortunately, I have board meetings this morning. The life of a CEO, truly sucks.
The meeting was boring as usual— all of them are. I'm thirty years old, I should be on a boat feeling the breeze of Sanatori slapping my face not in a fucking meeting room with power-hungry men who want to fuck me over at some point. Rather frustrated, I walked around the corner and this woman bumped into me. I couldn't even see her face but I had an idea of who it was.
Before I could say anything my thoughts were interrupted by Shelby. "Oh Mr. Xander, good your meeting is done, I see you've met the new girl, miss Willis, the intern."
"Yes, I've met her and shouldn't you be doing your job on the ground floor," I said and snapped at Shelby.
"Yes, si-"
"Then get to it," I said, raising my voice and she left. Azzaria stood there looking at me with confusion.
"Why are you just standing there?" I asked in a rather harsh tone.
"I was going to apologize for bumping into you but never mind," she spat and started to walk away.
This girl was playing as well as walking on very dangerous waters with me. I don't like being challenged, especially by someone younger and a lot more naive and inexperienced than me but she seemed to be the hard one to crack. One to never back down and that was the type of assistant I needed— not the ones that wanted to fuck or suck me off every day.
Walking back to my office, I noticed someone was sitting in the waiting area for me. I couldn't see there faces but the back of their heads looked really familiar.
"Mother?" You've got to be kidding me.
"Yes Dillon, hello," she said in response and got up from the chair.
"What are you doing here?" I asked and walked over to greet her with a hug. The more affection I showed her, the quicker she'd leave and I didn't want her here.
"I was in the area and decided to stop by. Where's the lovely Mara?" It gave me trauma to hear her speak about us like she didn't completely fuck up as a parent for all our lives.
"Probably eating chips somewhere," I chuckled and walked up both into my office.
"You know, Annalise ca-"
"Mom," I said and interrupted her "I do not want to hear that woman's name." My mother wanted me to forget everything and move on to fixing that marriage with Annalise but as far as I'm concerned, the only place I want her is in prison or six feet underground. She was the biggest advocates for Annalise and she didn't even know the full story. I wouldn't tell her, she's lucky I invited her to my wedding.
"D, just give it a chance for the sake of your-"
"For the sake of my what? Happiness? That died a long time ago. If you came here to advocate on her behalf, I suggest you leave and that's said with all due respect."
"You'll never know real love because you don't give it a chance," she scoffed.
"I rather never know it than be with someone as vindictive and dreadful as her." Or because you never showed it to me.
My mother fiercely grabbed her purse and left. I loved everything about my mom but I would never listen to her when it comes to Annalise. My mother thinks that we just outgrew our marriage and boredom was the cause of the divorce, little did she know all the bullshit I had to put up with and that's something she'll never grow to know.
Azzaria
I'm too similar to this man. There's no fucking way that all of that just happened. I completely forget he's the boss at this place but I was just upset. He gave direct instructions about "not being late" and then ended up being an hour late. Nicholas just told me to sit in his office and wait for him and so I did.
For the time I have here, which should be no more than three months— yes, I know three months is a hell of a long time, apparently I'll be his new assistant. I hope this won't be my own personal hell. I assume it's because the other one will go on maternity leave soon. If I had started my internship earlier this year, I would've had less time but my procrastinating ass waited until now. The bright side should be, at least it's getting done.
I found my way to the new office and got settled in. There was mainly phone calls to be taken and papers to be either filed and printed. I didn't know where or how to start so I did what I did best— attempt something and see how best it works out for me.
"Are you in the wrong office?" Great. Everywhere I go Nicholas finds me. Does he never take a hint?
"No, Mr. Xander told me I'm his new intern assistant," I said and walked over to the printer.
"That's cool. Do you need help with anything?"
As much as I didn't want to say yes, I couldn't be here acting like I knew how to do everything when I didn't. "Actually yes, where do I begin and how I do even get this dealt with?"
"I'll ask Mara to help you, she can guide you a lot better than I can," he said and smiled at me. Maybe Nicholas isn't such a bad person to be around, awful at sex but great at being a helping hand.
He went on his phone, dialed Mara and a beautiful pregnant lady entered the room. I remembered her face, she's the boss' sister. She greeted me when I came on the day of the interview.
"Hey Nich," she said "what's up?"
"I have to go do lab reports but can you help her out and tell her what it's like to be doing the assistant stuff?"
"Sure," Mara said and turned to me "of course I will."
Nicholas walked over, giving me a very passionate hug and left the room. My blood was boiling but I couldn't show my anger— not here. Does this man feel like we're in a relationship or something?
"Being Dillon's assistant is a bit rough and it's the main reason this space is always empty," Mara spoke. But wasn't she the assistant?
"Aren't you his assistant?"
"No, I just help him out in every area I can. He's my brother, I can't say no to him," she said and smiled. It was good to know that he wasn't an asshole to everyone because I'm pretty sure this man hates my guts but I wasn't here to make him like me.
"Oh okay but any tips to help here?"
"Yeah," she said and took a seat "the main thing is to just do your job to the best of your ability and keep it cordial. He fired almost everyone for putting their noses and vaginas where it shouldn't be. He doesn't believe in fraternization and even if you are doing that, don't be as bold as you were earlier in front me," she stated and cleared her throat.
"Oh no, you have it all wrong. Nicholas and I are definitely not like that. I'm single, he just cannot take a hint," I awkwardly chuckled and took a seat around the desk.
"Oh, my bad then but even so, Dillion doesn't ask questions. He just assumes and he won't hesitate to release you," she spoke up.
"Yeah, I figured as much and thanks for the tips."
"You're welcome and don't be afraid to ask if you need any help," she said and starting making her way out of the office.
"I will."
"Whenever he calls you," she said and turned to look at me "drop whatever you're doing and answer him. He never calls for help unless he really needs it," she concluded and walked out of the office.
Well, this helped a little bit but Dillon's a lot more mysterious than he seems and I know that because I'm exactly the same person.
I opened the desktop and his daily schedule popped up, at least I'll be able to prep for his meetings and inform him of the upcoming trips and work he has. I've got this in the bag, how hard can this be?
