Leila’s POV
Momentary relief flooded through me as soon as we got to the hospital. My mind was a mess and the weariness of the day finally sunk in.
I sat outside the ICU, my hands shaking. Aunt Maurice tried to calm me but to no avail. I wouldn't be able to feel at ease until my baby was no longer suffering.
I started tapping my foot, close to losing my grip on my sanity when I decided to get up. I needed to clear my mind and relax my muscles. Being a mess in front of Jace wouldn't do either of us good.
"I'm going to get some fresh air, Auntie. Call me as soon as the doctor comes out."
"While you're at it, get yourself some meal, love. You look pale yourself."
I had forgotten to eat, my stomach grumbled in response to Aunt Maurice's query.
I pursed my lips and nodded. Although, at the back of my mind, eating was the last thing I wanted to do.
When I stepped outside, I embraced the frosty night wind, my eyes gazing towards the sky.
