Chapter 32 - Storm of Demons: Battle against the Imp Flood

After the break, everyone rose, and Helga was handed the boots, which had an intelligence bonus of +2. She immediately put them on. After that they went back to the entrance hall to take the next way.

The next path took them down a long hallway with many rooms on either side. These were all filled with a variety of enemies, from Imps to Skeletons, everything they had encountered before. The mood was depressed, but still they didn't want to give up on the dungeon, as breaking it off would only mean more stress. So they continued on their way, slaughtering their way from room to room.

At the end of the hallway was a large dining room where a thin, tall man sat. Next to him stood a maid. Upon closer inspection, one could see that the man was a cross between a Hobgoblin and a Demon. The maid, on the other hand, looked like a humanoid demon with bat wings. The maid placed food on the table, which she seemed to conjure out of thin air, and said, "You must grow big and strong, so eat." The man did as he was told, but each time he gulped something down, the sound of something falling to the floor was heard.

As the group approached, the man stood up. You could see a huge hole in his stomach. Then he spoke, "It seems that we have guests who want to stop me from satisfying my hunger."

After these words, his face changed, his jaw opened wide and huge teeth formed in his mouth. The maid drew two daggers. Before the group could be attacked, however, the man seemed to catch his breath, creating a strong wind and drawing the group toward him. As he did so, the maid threw the daggers at each of them at breakneck speed.

Martin tried to fend off all the attacks, protecting the women, while Sandro used his swords. Mortis used the swirl of the scythes to get behind them and slashed at them, disrupting their abilities. But Mortis now had their attention, and the man tried to bite him with his huge mouth while the maid struck with her daggers. Mortis took advantage of the ghostly retreat and was suddenly out of reach.

The others took the opportunity to land good hits as the bosses turned their attention to Mortis. Martin used his shield and sword to lure the bosses in and draw attacks. Helga used her light shields to help as she could barely move due to the attacks. Mortis used his sigil to deal damage, and kept hitting the bosses until the sigil exploded and staggered them. This encouraged the others to keep fighting until the bosses had taken enough damage and Sandro finally cut off the demoness' head.

Exhausted and covered in wounds, the group sat down and drank healing potions. A silver box appeared, which Sandro opened. Inside the box were 15 gold coins, a ring with intelligence bonus +2 and a necklace with intelligence bonus +2. Marina pointed out that intelligence bosses occur based on the group's stats and that the dungeon was fair.

After a short recovery break, they moved on to the next floor. This one was in ruins, and there was only one way they went after the seal on the stairs disappeared.

They opened a door, and darkness greeted them. But soon torches on the walls lit up the room with green light. A huge magic circle with many symbols appeared on the floor in an ominous purple. While the glow began, around 10 imps and 10 flying imps appeared.

They had no problems with the small enemies, but when they were defeated, skeletons, bats and even demon dogs appeared. After the 12th wave, a pretty demoness with big bat wings and long claws appeared. She spoke of her unfaithful husband and his whore and announced that she would leave the castle.

The demoness created a portal and disappeared. Instead of the portal, a golden box appeared, which Helga opened. Inside were a staff and gloves, both with an intelligence bonus of +2.

Mortis made his way back outside, took Helga by the hand and whispered something in her ear. The others interpreted it as an allusion to intimate things and reacted amused. Marina inquired curiously, but Mortis remained unmoved. Arriving at the castle, it was already dark and the baron was unresponsive. They went to rest to see what would happen the next day.
