Charlotte was startled by the sudden knock at the side of the wall, and she turned her attention to see that Stone was making an entrance. He was carrying in some bags and placed them on the kitchen island making her peer over to see if she could catch a glimpse of what was within the bags considering it didn't seem to be one big secret.
If it were, she wouldn't be seeing it. She lifted her hand, and Stone placed the bags into her open ones for her to open. Charlotte untied the knot on the bags to see that it was a ton of weapons which she instinctively flinched at only to glance over her shoulder when she caught Vincent laughing at her reaction.
"What is it?" she asked irritated since it seemed as though he was making fun of her.
"Did you think it was food?" he said slowly.
She snickered. "I did. It seems as though weapons are more your taste though."
"Did I miss something?" Stone asked as he raised an eyebrow. "Where's Lucia?"
"It's nothing," Vincent answered just as Charlotte added, "Lucia's on the second floor."
He nodded after hearing the information. "I see."
Charlotte tied the bag once more despite knowing that she was going to have to be hands-on with them very soon. "Are you done with your work, Stone?"
Stone shrugged as he took off his black gloves. "We should be all good in the department. I'll leave Vincent to contact Hendrey to finish off any loose ends."
"Yes, I'll get on that soon," Vincent said once more. "Should we give a tour of the place first to the ladies?"
"That would be best," Stone agreed.
"Sure, I'll go get her," Charlotte said as she tapped her hands on the cool marble countertop of the island a few times before leaving the kitchen to go up the stairs that were present from the entranceway.
The cabin was of a good size, but it wasn't overly large as she first had suspected. The cabin had two floors from what she had seen, and she was taking her time going up the stairs since she still needed to explore the area. The stairs didn't have dual layers to the steps, and she took in the dark wood which she didn't normally prefer but matched better with the outdoor vibe.
After getting to the top of the stairs, she was met with a large room that wasn't filled at all instead with only a small cabinet pushed to the side with an antique glass lamp perched on top of it, the watercolor cover the only sharp burst of color inside of the cabin that was a spread of neutrals through the wooden furniture and muted walls.
The room then opened up the hallway which only had one way making it easy not to get lost. One of the doors was open as she went down the hallway that had a skylight in the ceiling bringing fresh light into what was the otherwise cramped hallway, but there were hanging lights on the wall adding to that olden feeling.
Charlotte knocked her knuckles on the door that was already open to catch Lucia's attention since she was lying on her stomach on the bed. Lucia turned over her shoulder with her chin on her arms that were crossed under her chin to blink lazily at Charlotte with the sleep still evident in her eyes.
"Sorry, I'm sure you're exhausted," Charlotte smiled.
Lucia still had enough energy for her lips to curve. "The bed is comfortable, so I'm all set."
Charlotte laughed. "Hurry on, we have to get a tour from the boys."
Lucia groaned. "I'm starting to second guess everything."
"Hmmm, why's that?"
Lucia got up to sit on the edge of the bed. "Look. The windows don't fully open?"
Charlotte walked over to the window to see that the window could only crank open a few inches because there was the connecting rolling arm that could only extend out so far.
She didn't know, but the house was specifically made to take preemptive measures to anything, meaning there was likely a reason for that. She just didn't know if it would help or hurt them later on.
"That's odd," Charlotte said. "If you saw the walls, they look uneven."
"Again, I suspect that they're secret rooms," Lucia continued slowly.
She did catch that as well, and it did add up considering that the hallways were substantially smaller and thinner than she would have expected even for a house that was this size. There had to be another reason for the architecture of the building alongside the random dimensions that didn't add up.
If it was one thing that she was good at, it was asking questions. Charlotte lifted a shoulder in response. "Well, we can ask, because next on the list is the tour."
Lucia cracked her neck to stretch as she stood. "Okay, let's get going."
