They walked down the stairs, and Lucia was keeping to herself while Charlotte was fine with that since she would rather not try to pick a fight with Lucia considering that they all need to at least be on the same wavelength where they somewhat like each other or else they won't be able to make it to the end alive.
Their steps were light as they finally made their way to the ground floor, and she heard voices coming from the right of them behind the stairs. Charlotte slid a glance to the front door making Lucia do the same with a questioning look making Charlotte raise a shoulder since once again, Vincent's behavior was rubbing off on her.
Rounding the corner, there was a dark wooden door that was slightly cracked open with voices slipping out. Charlotte slightly pulled the door open, but it was enough for them to stop talking from below.
She didn't even need to wonder why since their senses were so heightened, so they could probably do anything. Not that she wanted to test it out, but to her, vampires do seem a bit indestructible.
Lucia looked like a rabbit that was just caught red-handed, but Charlotte motioned for her to follow, and Lucia lightly treaded after her. The downstairs area was normal with the low ceilings, but the all-white walls were a stark contrast to the warm tones that she had just gotten used to from above.
The lights were on low, so she couldn't see well at first, but as Charlotte scanned the basement area, it was literally all empty with the boys nowhere to be seen. The room felt too sterile, and Charlotte pressed her fingers to the wall wondering if it would give. It didn't. Hard layers were underneath, and Lucia started backing back to where they came from.
Charlotte was starting to think that was a good idea too since she had no direction of what to do since they were literally in a large white box with no other dimension from the subtle shadows from the corners and the floors. Her foot slowly lifted off the ground into a backward step as she still contemplated what to do.
As her foot went back one inch it was when the boys came into the room out of nowhere. It was as if they randomly spawned into the room startling Charlotte and making Lucia scream scrambling backward. Charlotte pressed her lips together. "A heads up on where you guys went would have been nice."
Vincent shrugged as he took off the black latex gloves that were adorned on his hands. "We were prepping everything for you two."
Charlotte lifted her eyebrow as she nodded. "That's suspicious."
"Come," Vincent said as he extended his hand.
She paused for a second before setting her hand in his, her trust in everything he was. "Hm, show me what you got."
They went over to the side, but it made no difference on her end with everything looking the same. Vincent pressed his thumb to the wall, and Charlotte leaned in close to watch to see if she would be able to catch anything. But it was all normal making her glance back up at him suspiciously. "What is this? A fingerprint reader?"
"You're right," Vincent answered. "Now, see if you can find it."
She ran her fingers lightly over the wall, but it was all smooth. Charlotte couldn't feel anything harder or softer when she applied pressure. She didn't know any tricks that she was sure Vincent would be able to identify in less than a second, so after a few minutes, she turned back to look at him.
He pushed the wall open, and it gave away easily, folding in on itself with the sharp crease which made Charlotte groan since he did it so easily. Vincent motioned for her to go inside first, but she slowly stuck her head over first to see what she was getting into first before having to go inside.
She was able to catch sight of Lucia and Stone wrestling over to the side with Lucia once again trying to fight off his grip since Lucia was sitting on the steps while Stone was looking down on her as if she was pathetic. Charlotte shook her head at their action, wanting to jump in, but she had to save herself through a battle before she could fight someone else's.
Charlotte wasn't sure what she was expecting, but the place in the wall was hollowed out into a huge room that had white walls and dark flooring with panels full of weapons hung intricately to showcase and be able to access easily. Targets were positioned on the opposite wall with the colored rings as well as different sets of cups further down the hall.
There were also tables pushed to her right-hand side that were full of other random assortments of weapons that she didn't want to look too deeply at, but she got the feeling that they were going to be a close acquaintance during their stay here. The training that Vincent and Stone wanted them to do was likely going to start soon.
"So this was where you and Stone crawled to," she said slowly.
