Chapter 101 - Kindred Minds

Charlotte ran a hand through her matted hair and slid a look over at Vincent who was still staring at her. She knew that she likely was a hot mess right now after everything that had happened and would want nothing more than a hot shower and warm bed to wash herself off from all the events of the day.

The new safehouse that Stone had, they didn't have much information about, so they would have to go out there and ask him. She didn't know what it would entail to live there for about two weeks, but she would assume they would just be sitting ducks trying to hone their skills a bit more to be able to fight back.

It would be good for her to be able to brush up on her shooting skills since before she was quite timid about it however, she would have to start being more aggressive and active with her attacks, and her training for shooting with Vincent to back up and help her get better at using the gun well at their attackers.

Charlotte saw her reflection in the broken LED screens of the TV that were still wired with a tiny bit of power with the black being somewhat lit up, and she fixed her appearance the best that she could but didn't bother too hard considering that Stone and Lucia already knew exactly what they were up to.

It was also a fact that she didn't bother to hide during that time since Vincent was in the serious need of release speaking of which, he didn't even enter her. She turned back around and took in Vincent's complexion. He looked a lot better without even coming inside of her which she should take as a good sign.

He did say that he would rather do her when there was a fresh bed, and when everything was over, but she didn't know how long in the future that would be. Whatever it made her seem like, so be it, because she was desperately yearning for him now despite not knowing how to put it into understandable words.

Either way, the pleasure and tension between them were real, and she would keep that close to her heart to guide her way through the wavering feelings that she felt for Vincent since she couldn't decipher if what she was feeling was due to their over proximity with one another or their action like and dislike for each other.

Chemistry like that she had never encountered before, so now that it was right in front of her and within her reach, she was hesitate to grab it because she was scared that she wouldn't be able to navigate through the muddy waters on her. However, she was never going to be alone in that matter because Vincent would always be there for her.

After fluffing hair and running her hands through the pale brown strands, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand again and wished that there was nothing on her face, but Vincent's warmth had exploded everywhere for everyone to see, leaving stains all over her black clothing much to her chagrin.

There were many times when Vincent has scent marked her without her not understanding what was happening, but she was glad to be able to carry a piece of him around with her everywhere. However, this was a bit much for her, and she watched as Vincent cuffed his sleeves before slipping on her black drawstring bag that fell to the ground earlier.

She was hoping that Stone and Lucia were able to manage to be in the same vicinity for a while, and Charlotte looked up at Vincent when he suddenly brushed his fingers over her lips. She smiled at him, and he turned away with a quick quirk in his lips before walking over to the door and pulling it open only to cringe when the smell that was likely stronger to him hit his nose.

"Jesus, this is horrible," he muttered.

"It only gets worse," she sang. "Let's hurry up and go over to Lucia and Stone to see if anyone of them survived a fight."

"Now, I'm curious to see Lucia's character."

Charlotte lifted a shoulder. "You'll like her. That girl has nerves of steel."

She strode out of the glass doors as if nothing had ever transpired in that room, and Charlotte ignored the taste that was lingering in her mouth as they made their way down the hallway. Vincent kept himself close to her and didn't bother to hide that fact considering his golden eyes came back out to show that he was in defensive mode once again.

They opened the door to the staircase well to see that Stone was sitting on the ground not that far away with his back to the wall and his legs stretched out before him along with his crossed ankles and unbothered smile.

It was that face that made Charlotte uneasy because it gave him that air of a mannequin as in he couldn't care less about what happens to himself.

"You finished fast," Stone said slowly.

Charlotte looped her arm through Vincent's and rolled her eyes. "That's exactly what Lucia said."

Lucia was sitting on the steps below and poked her head up to their level before she quipped, "Great minds think alike."

Stone stood and brushed the dust from his legs. "While I would love to talk about how many brain cells we have, we have to get going."
