Chapter 102 - Steel Winged

Charlotte didn't know how close Vincent and Stone truly were to each other, but it was easy to tell that there was a clear high arch between the two. Then again, it may just be that Vincent was being respectable rather than acting as though nothing was amiss.

Stone seemed to tolerate her and Lucia better now that Vincent was around likely it was as he had said earlier that Vincent would be aggressive if he showed any hostile sign toward them which she was grateful for since he was no more approachable.

She did wonder what the story was behind Vincent and Stone, like how they got to meet each other and what it was like to grow with one another for such a long period considering the long life span of a vampire in general.

Vincent's hands slipped down to the weapon holster strap on her waist and put a finger through the loop to keep her anchored right next to him while they all spoke. Charlotte didn't mind and leaned herself back on the familiar frame to get some pressure off of her feet.

Lucia had her chin propped on her arms that were perched on the step above and looked up at them with interest while still holding the light suspicion in her eyes which was understandable due to Stone's hostile first impression.

The men standing next to each other felt as though they had just stepped out of a men's fashion catalog magazine cover shoot on the billboards all over the Centennial Center with tons of large flashing LED screens powered by millions of bulbs working harder than most would assume behind the scenes.

Stone was the slightest bit taller than Vincent with them both clad in black-button down shirts that were likely drenched with their blood despite looking as dashing as they were with the sleeves rolled up to reveal the veiny arms and muscles that were attractive.

Vincent's hair was messy from her fingers and she hoped that he always showed off the look since it was what suited him best with his carefree yet stern attitude of his that matched her better than she had expected.

Vincent nodded at the statement Stone posed just a second ago. "I agree. It's best to get going right now."

"But weren't you going to wait for the backup to arrive?" Lucia asked.

Stone shrugged. "Luckily, the vigilantes haven't found our location yet. Moving somewhere else and telling them to meet there will also suffice."

"That will have to do. Sitting out here like this is worse for us considering that we have lost our weapons in the process," Vincent said as he put his arms on Charlotte's shoulders since she was standing in front of him.

Stone ran a hand through his hair and blew out a long breath. "That's true. We need to lie down low to get everyone back together before we start the hunting process again. Their numbers are strong, and we don't have the manpower at the moment to fight back."

Charlotte nodded. "I see. Where is the safe house anyways?"

"It is a little while from here," Stone answered.

Lucia smirked over at Charlotte. "What are the chances that the car is still outside and waiting?"

Charlotte laughed. "It's slim. But let's go see for ourselves right now."

Lucia rolled her eyes. "It's definitely gone."

Charlotte took the first step down the stairs that was going to be much easier going down than coming up, and Lucia looped her arms through her own before they both slowly went down careful to fall and slip from the blood that the men had unwillingly spilled earlier.

"It wouldn't matter since we would be traveling by the rooftops," Stone said slowly.

"Wait, what?" Lucia exclaimed.

Stone suddenly slammed his fist into the tall windows from the level areas in the stairwells to walk into the platform entry of each floor, and the glass shards went flying with the large crying crass from the shrill scream of the glass while Charlotte and Lucia immediate dove for cover.

Vincent placed his body in between there's, and when the dust settled, Charlotte looked back with a frown. "What gives? Care for a warning at all?"

Stone shrugged. "I would have notified if I had saw fit."

He reached forward to Lucia, and she took a step backward. She cocked her head. "What is it?"

"I suggest that you'll take my hand considering that Vincent's is going to be full."

Stone leaned to her and grabbed Lucia's hand which was still and frozen by her side and yanked her to him before lifting her knees into a princess carry making Lucia squeak out in shock.

"Put me down!" Lucia struggled.

Stone ignored the hands and feet that were kicking him harshly and put the edge of his boot to the windowsill in a moment's breath. Charlotte thought for a split that he was going to jump down when Stone turned back.

Charlotte laughed lightly at the fact that Lucia was still angrily hitting his only to get herself lifted in the same hold, and she smacked Vincent's shoulder. "I can get up myself."

Lucia screamed when Stone took off from

His vantage point, and it was Vincent's turn-up now. Charlotte gripped Vincent's shirt with her nails digging into his skin, and Vincent lifted his eyebrow.

"Ready for me to drop you now so that you can get up the side of the building yourself?" he taunted.

"You wouldn't dare," Charlotte bit our while her feet danced up a hundred feet and higher from the flat and comfortable ground.
