I could sense her eyes on me throughout the day. Natalie Portman always got what she wanted, and she seemed particularly upset that the new boys paid more attention to me than her, well, not both of the boys, just Jeremy.
I hastened my steps toward the exit, but I didn't make it there before someone pulled me and pressed me against the wall.
I glanced up to see Dylan standing before me, his hands trapping me against the wall. I couldn't leave even if I wanted to.
"Why didn't you stay away from my brother like I asked you to?" Dylan questioned. Frustration and perhaps even concern flickered briefly in his eyes before vanishing.
"Who do you think you are? You don't control my life," I retorted, my anger surfacing.
"He's dangerous," Dylan warned.
"Oh, like you're not," I shot back, attempting to leave. Then, I realized his hands still barred my way.
I gave him a look that clearly conveyed my desire to leave. He understood and withdrew his hands.
As I walked away, he continued talking, but I chose to ignore him.
Upon exiting the school, I glanced back to see him still staring at me. My attention, however, shifted abruptly when I failed to notice a bright pink car heading straight towards me.
Before the vehicle could strike me, an incredible force pushed me out of harm's way, and I found myself in Dylan's grasp.
How had he arrived so quickly? I didn't even have a chance to inquire about what had just happened. I couldn't believe that she had just attempted to kill me. How crazy was she?
