Chapter 19 - ADAM

—(POV Jacob)

My lord commanded my charge. So I joined the battle, I was intercepted by one of the adventurers with melee weapons but I easily disposed of him and continued my charge. I went after the last melee combatant standing.

He let out a battle cry before interlocking my sword with his battle axe. He tried to slam his shield into my side, but I quickly dodged and went for a slash at his exposed armpit.

It connected releasing a gout of blood which quickly tried to cover with his other arm.

Using this opportunity I beheaded him and made my way to the mages. I made sure the large man's armor was intact just like my lord commanded.

It has been hundreds of years since he was here commanding the troops in battle. We have had numerous intruders in the past 20 years. But very few got to the throne room and even fewer tried to attack the king.

From my interrogation of a select few of the adventurers, it seems we aren't in the capital of Mechania.

Even though we haven't been here for long, we have become a feared force for the people outside the gates of our castle. We also learned that we can't replicate the process of leaving our castle. They enter yet we can't leave.

The captured said that if we ever left then it would be a "dungeon break" which is awful to call my lords castle a dungeon.

We haven't been able to achieve a dungeon break in the 20 years the adventures have been invading our castle. But I'm sure that with my lord's help, we can finally make it happen. Although we must first remove these pesky adversaries before us.

They are the strongest group of five we have faced yet. We've had many confident solo adventures come and lose their lives. And through the interrogations we have learned that an Adventurer and Dungeon Anomaly Management aka ADAM. ADAM has increased the minimum amount of people needed to enter to five now, though we do get an occasional solo who thinks he's all that and that he has some super important mission.

My troops and I quickly dispatched the fire mage and all that remains is the black and green robed mage. He rose a sickly pale and bone thin arm.

He laughed out causing all of us to face him except for my lord who was making his way over to the furnace in the corner.

"Though useless people couldn't even handle this, how pathetic. No matter they get a second chance." He shouted as his dead comrades bodies slowly stood up. They flimsily swung their weapons and the mage casted fire magic with a sickly green color.

"You'll never beat this," he shouted preparing another spell. But before he could cast it the sound of tearing flesh and cackling could be heard in the corner near the furnace.

"What is so funny you beast," the necromancer spat out.

"Nothing you beast, just your incompetence," my king spoke back out. Now a mouth with pearly white teeth shown on his otherwise barren face. The mouth wasn't quite right in that it is wider than the average human mouth. It seemed to reach across the wintering of his face with a sadistic smile.

"Shut up, kill him askeleasin, and and skeleazard focus fire him."

The dead assassin near our lord leapt toward him but was quickly grabbed by the throat and tossed into the flames of the furnace. The necromancers spell seemed to regrow his limbs, but along with that came his nerves that were now set aflame in his undead state.

But three green flames rocketed into my lord causing a large smoke cloud to billow out.

"I did it, I killed the boss. But where are my rewards?" He looked in front of him tapping and swiping the air in front of him.

I watched the smoke slowly disappear as the sound of more flesh tearing was heard.

"Oh no, he's still alive, minions protect me," the necromancer commanded with his two remaining undead shambling in front of him.

Stepping out of the cloud our lord with a hole in the middle of his barren face and he had a long black tube protruding from his mouth. Protruding from the hole in his face was another shorter black tube. Though the tube almost seemed like a telescope in how the glass was set up.

But there were inscriptions in the glass, almost as if centering a target in the cemetery if the scope. He walked out and a large resounding booming sound shook the room.

The necromancer fell backwards as a hole appeared in the center of his forehead. Smoke slowly came from the square like ending of the tube as it slowly descended back into the lords mouth. The scope also sunk back into his head and the skin slowly grew and stuck itself back together.

But the large sadistic grin still remained.
