Chapter 2 - 2. Sophia

As she sat at an empty table by the window to the left of the counter, she looked out of the window enjoying the view of the people walking by and going about their lives, some shopping and some wearing suits busy on their phones, some with families enjoying their day.

She wished she had a family to enjoy her day with too, this thought though made her sad, so she tried to push that to the back of her mind.

As she shook her head, Sam came up to her table to clean it, though she didn't know why as it was spotless.

"Do you want anything else Sophia? I can get it for you." He asked while looking at her face intently. "Ah, no thanks Sammy, I'm good." she replied with a forced smile, her previous thoughts has gotten her down and she knew it.

Sam looked at her, he could tell something was bothering her, so he decided to ask, "Hey, you good? You seem upset, what's wrong?" By the look on his face, she could tell he was worried about her and that he noticed she was sad.

"I'll be fine, just some thoughts made me a bit sad but I'll get over it." She replied being truthful.

He knew she didn't want to talk about it so he decided to ask her something else, hoping it would cheer her up." Hey, look a bunch of us are going out tonight, it Saturday and none of us has to be in work tomorrow so we can die of our hangovers in relative peace, why don't you come with us?" He said with a hopeful look.

She thought for a while, at first wanting to say no, but then she had to urge to go out and just enjoy herself, "Why not, YOLO, right." she said with a smile on her face, 'it's gonna be fun' she thought to herself.

"Great." He said smiling back, he didn't think she would actually agree, though her really wanted her to but she actually agreed! "Let's meet up outside the north entrance of prophesy park, you know the one on spencer street." He said to her with a smile on his face.

"Yeah, OK that's great, I literally live right there any way, so that's perfect for me." She said returning his smile brightly, he starred at her stunned for a moment due to her beautiful smile and then the realisation hit him, they live really close to each other.

"No way, where do you live? I live on Moore street." He said to her a bit too excitedly.

"I live on spencer street, I can't believe we're basically neighbours and didn't know." She said laughing also excitedly, she has liked Sam for years, since she moved to the area and started working nearby.

She maybe, even a little bit, a teeny tiny bit, had and or has a crush on him.

She then to her shame, realised she was a bit too excited, which Sam also seemed to notice but didn't say out loud as he was now equally or maybe more excited than her.

'Thank god' she thought to herself, happy he didn't expose her embarrassment out in the open, she then took a paper napkin out of the holder and took a pen out of her bag and began to write her phone number down.

"Here Sam, so you can contact me." She said giving him her number.

"Oh and what time are we meeting, so I can be ready on time, I have a habit of being late, so I need ample time to get ready." She said laughing while rubbing her nose in a shy manner. "8pm, we are going to a wine bar first, called club Lunar."

He said with a big smile on his face, 'today is the best day ever '- He thought to himself, the girl he has a huge crush on is going out with him tonight, well….. the group but he's still a part of it, so it's a win plus he has also found out they are practically neighbours, so 'It's THE. BEST.DAY.EVER.'- He again thought to himself.

Once she realised that she was staring too long, she decided it was time to leave so that she could not and wouldn't embarrass herself further. She decided to order another coffee before she left for home and get dressed for this awesome night out that she never expected to happen.

She said goodbye to everybody and told them that she'll see them later tonight, some of the staff was a bit surprised that she would be coming but also excited because they knew it was gonna be a good night.

Sam told everybody that she would be coming as well and he also informed them she lives right on Spencer St, where they normally meet.

Some of the girls were really excited while some were kind of jealous but still they couldn't hate her even when they tried because she was such a nice girl, always humble, sometimes even quite funny, so no matter how much they tried to hate her, they couldn't.

So instead of focusing on the anomaly of that inner statement, they all spoke of how they were looking forward to tonight and they each said their 'see you laters'.

She then turned and left the Café with a smile on her face. 'Today was looking to be a good day'- she thought to herself.

Once she left the Café, she decided to go for a walk to see if she could find herself a nice new dress to wear for tonight, 'since I'm going out with my all-time crush, maybe I can find something nice to wear to maybe, a little bit, impress him but not that I'm gonna try too hard, that will make me look desperate.' she argued with herself.

As she was walking down the street after about 5 minutes, suddenly she felt like something was off, she felt a tingle down her spine like someone was intently focused on her.

She looked around to see if she could find these pair of eye that was watching her but as she observed her surroundings' she couldn't see anyone in particular, plus there were a few people who were looking at her right now, so she shook her head to get the thoughts out, maybe she's being paranoid.

'No something isn't right'- she thought 'I can still feel it, someone is definitely following us'-As this thought popped into her head, she ducked into one of the clothing shops quickly, (ignoring the fact that in her thoughts the voice said us not me).

She grabbed a dress off a rack and went into the changing room, making it look like she was going to try it on, when she looked at the dress however 'Damn, It's hideous!'- she thought to herself.
