Olivia was once a cheerful and beautiful woman, smart and bubbly. But after all that happened, she had become more or less nonchalant to most things and people.
In this situation, Olivia indeed thought she was really too calm and unafraid. But seeing as she was a witch, she suddenly understood why she wasn't afraid.
Furthermore, she could feel it that there was something between Max and her. It was right under the surface, waiting for the right moment to reveal itself.
As she walked, her thoughts kept wondering.
She had never felt special before, like she was different from everyone else. She always felt like everyone else, a simple human girl. How did she suddenly become a witch and why now?
This question kept popping up in her mind.
Distracted, she tripped and almost fell. However, she landed on a hard and broad chest. She looked up and saw a pair of cold silver eyes staring back at her. And she didn't know how but she got stuck in those eyes and couldn't look away for a long time.
Neither could Max as he stared at into her emerald green eyes. They were bright and full of life and and Max envied that. He has always wanted that, to feel alive again.
But it was so hard, so painful.
Every single time.
As Max stared at Olivia, and raised his hand to tug a few stray strands of her silver hair behind her small ear. After that, he didn't put his hand down but rather placed it on her warm cheek caressing it slowly and gently.
His other hand unconscious wrapped around her tiny waist very slowly. Then he drew her even closer until their bodies were pressed flush against each other.
"Izzy", Max said, feeling breathless for no reason.
"Max", Olivia respond also sounding breathless, saying his name for the first time.
And he suddenly felt like he was hit with a bottle of sparkles and glitter. He felt like there was a rainbow before his eyes and felt giddy like he was on a sugar rash. He didn't know he could feel this way just because this little witch said his name.
Olivia was staring right at him and saw the darkness in his eyes clear up a bit and a hint of light and hope appeared in there. It was the first time she saw signs of life in his usually dim eyes.
"I–", Olivia was about to speak but was interrupted by a quiet cough at the side. Turned her head and saw it was Gabriel before tilting it to see that everyone had stopped and were watching them with bewildered gazes.
Realizing that they were being watched like some sort of sick entertainment, Olivia tried to pull away from him but was held in place by his strong arms.
Seeing this, Olivia directed her sharp gaze at Max and this let him quickly withdraw from the haze ha had been trapped in.
Glancing at all the others staring at them, Max directly let go of her. Feeling extremely embarrassed, blood rushed to his head and the tips of his ears became red.
Olivia was also very embarrassed but when she saw Max's embarrassed expression, she paused. It was the first time seeing such clear expressions on his face. Plus he blushed so hard, his usually pale face was identical to a ripe tomato at the moment.
Looking at him like this, Olivia felt he was extremely cute. Her lips unconsciously curled into a gentle smile. A smile so gentle, it looked like water would drip from it.
Max saw Olivia smile like that and felt his heart skip a few beats. And suddenly his heartbeat became unrhythmic, pumping blood into his head frantically and he blushed uncontrollably.
What the hell?
The vampires were dumbfounded as there watched this public display of sweetness. It was as if they had all eaten honey. It was that sweet
Max's siblings watched this scene feeling sweet and nauseous at the same time. It was so sweet they wanted to vomit. It was kinda disgusting. No, no, they couldn't watch anymore.
But before they could look away, Max smiled. And it wasn't a gentle smile like they were expecting. Instead, it was a cold and mocking smile.
"You are really something. You almost got to me." Max sneered softly.
Olivia's gentle gaze turned indifferent in less than a second. She shrugged her shoulder, ran her fingers through her long silver her and said with a cold smile playing at her lips.
"It was worth a try."
Max scoffed and started walking away with a roll of his eyes.
The vampires watched this spectacle bamboozled.
What happened this time?
It seemed there was always drama involving these two.
"We move." Prince Maximilian commanded in an extremely cold voice. Seeing that the crowned prince wasn't in a good mood, they didn't dare to delay any further and immediately followed after him.
This time, they were running at super speed, wasting no more time. Olivia naturally couldn't keep up and was falling behind very quickly. She was about to cast a spell when Owen came over and directly threw her over his shoulder and caught up with the group.
Olivia was stunned but didn't struggle but rolled her eyes and made herself as comfortable as possible over his shoulder.
Over Owen's shoulder, Olivia was lost in her thoughts. She thought about what happened just a few minutes ago. As she was staring at Max, a scene suddenly flashed before her eyes where she was holding tightly onto Max's cold lifeless body.
But she blinked it away and tried prying Max's mind to see if he also saw the scene. However, his defenses were too strong and before she could try to get through, he discovered her and forced her out.
Thinking of that scene, it made her feel scared and pain. She didn't know whether it was a glimpse of the future. But it felt different, like it was something she had experienced before.
Deep in her thoughts, she didn't realize when they had stopped moving until she was thrown down. It was too sudden, she couldn't react in time and landed on the mass of flesh behind her–her butt.
She was stunned and winced in pain. She looked up at Owen, bewildered. Then suddenly her gaze turned fiery as she jumped back unto her feet. And then she started her rant.
"What the hell? Why in fuck's name did you do that. You could have just put me down like a normal person..." She trailed off there and sneered harshly. "Oh I forgot, you aren't a normal person. You are a vampire. But that doesn't mean you get to be so fucking crude. I didn't asked to be here, it was you guys who forced me to stay and now you are tossing me around like I'm some sack of potatoes. Well I'm a living being, witch or human, I'm still a living, breathing being. You get it, Your Highness?"
Owen was surprised by her outburst but also felt extremely amused by it. He stepped closer to her and raised his hand slowly.
Olivia looked at him unyieldingly, her emerald eyes blazing and her cheeks puffed up like a hamster. She looked extremely cute.
Owen raised his hand and patted her head softly and said with a cheeky grin.
"I get it, little witch."
