#Chapter23
The buzzing of whispers woke me. I cracked my eyes open, unsure if I should sit up. I was on a soft bed, but the ceiling didn't look like anything I'd seen before. I rose up on my elbows, glancing around. Heavy red patterned drapes hung from the windows, blocking any light. A soft breeze wafted in, sweeping over my skin. The ceiling was too high for anyone to reach without a ladder. What a bastard it would be to change the lightbulbs on the lights fixture hanging from the ceiling. A nonsensical thought, but I needed something to focus on instead of the growing worry that I had no idea where I was.
